XBLA - Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night - 800pts

I may sound stupid, but where the hell do you find the percentage of the map covered? I can't find it in any of the menus... I'm guessing you have to beat the game to find out.

Nope, it's when you first load up the save. It shows the percentage.

God this game is hard....I've been lost in the outer walls for 2 days...Trying to jump over the falling platforms as a wolf and not being successful at getting through the other side, once I got to the otherside, I got killed quick. I finally checked out gamefaqs and found out about the wolf glitch where as a wolf, you jump, change back to Alucard and press D+Jump and it bounces off candles and stuff on the walls. I haven't found anywhere to go, so I sorta cheated, I went to this clock room where you meet Maria and I managed to climb up to the Colusseum, and now I got a pretty powerful weapon and shield so I get like 1 damage everytime...Now I can finally continue on and see if I can finish this puppy.

Just frustrating how there's no sense of direction of where you need to be at any point in the game. Its confusing. The GBA and DS versions were better than this. I love the fact that changing capes changes the appearance of Alucard though.

SOTN is considered really easy, also, I'm having a much harder time figuring out where to go in DoS and PoR. Maybe because I've beat SOTN so many times?
Is that a glitch I can take advantate of? Explain?
It's a glitch that allows you to get out of the castle to obtain a little more percentage. It will not help you finish the game. I leveled up my Sword Familiar to level 100, and couldn't get it to work, so it was a waste of time. But, supposedly, it does work on the 360 version, I just couldn't get the timing right.
Is that a glitch I can take advantate of? Explain?
Just look at a map from gamefaqs and look at yours. It'll take a while, but it's an easy way to do it.

I couldn't get it to work either.

Near the beggining of the game, where you pass through this area with statues in the backround that are holding candles, theres some areas on the map that show you that you can go down below but are blocked by some red things. How do you break these or what's the way to open them? I already beat Belmont but I'm still at 70% so I'm sure I'm missing all kinds of stuff still. The bottom part of the map is the only part I'm missing and I have no clue how to get there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a room above the second set of red blocks, you have to get passed the magic sealed door (you should have the relic of open). Go in it and jump on top of the button. It will open the two sets of red blocks.

So, you beat Richter and it let you keep playing? Or you got the bad ending and reloaded your save? I haven't beat Richter in about 6 years, so I don't remember.

Thanks for the info Zewone. I beat him, bad ending, and reloaded.
This may sound stupid, but is there any way to go back to the normal castle after getting to the inverted?
Yep, just go back to the teleporter after the room with Drac.

So they released an update with some graphical updates and the button reassignment now actually works (shield on R trigger FTW!!!), but they removed I Am The Wind.

WTF?

I know it was cheesy and out of place, but I liked it. I liked going to the library every once in a while and listening to it in the sound test.

Nothing like having an update that takes something away from you. Now there's some sort of instrumental orchestral song from some other Castlevania game. I know it's an improvement, but it's ass. That part of the game didn't need improving.

I just might get on the horn with Microsoft and argue with their outsourced call centers that I should get a refund on SOTN because it's not what I paid for.
wait... huh?
Summary.

Added:
Better graphics
Button reassignment now works
Music from one of the PS2 games, I believe, as the ending theme

Possibly added:
The music from the CGI scenes in the sound test, but I'm fairly certain the CGI scenes are not in the game.

Removed:
I Am The Wind

Why I'm pissed:
They removed I Am The Wind

I'm serious. I was happy that I Am The Wind was a part of the game, and now they've got to go and fuck it all up. It would be one thing if they changed it for the initial release, but this is just ass. You pay for it, and then they say, "Wait, you can't have that." And three months later you ain't got it anymore.

It's a beautiful song, and they stole it from me. Those fuckers took my money and stole the song from me. I might as well have just gotten the PSX version because the XBLA version anally raped me.
Personally I like it alot better, but if anything just download the song.
But it's the priniciple of the thing. You pay for it, you've got it, and then they take it away from you for no apparent reason. It's like your mom packs your lunch for school and puts in your favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you look forward to it all morning, and then she drives up to the school five minutes before lunch starts and switches it with pizza. Yes, the pizza is better than the PB&J sandwich, but it's not your favorite. You haven't grown fond of pizza in the same way. You like PB&J because it's made with love, and you don't know what's going on with the pizza. And the confusion compounds because it's your mom who took the PB&J sandwich away from you. It's like she's taking her love away from you.

Really, I'm getting concerned with DLC and user rights and shit. I don't want companies taking maps away from me. Or guns. Or cars. Or costumes. Or 80s legends teams. Or armor. Especially on shit that I PAID FOR.

It's probably the initial shock talking, but right now I'm thinking of getting rid of my 360, picking up a PS3, getting MGS4 and Time Crisis 4, and then calling games quits for a while. At least the current gen. Because I don't want more shit to get taken away from me.

This update must've come out of nowhere then. As far as I know it wasn't even announced. Then again they probably didn't want to get any heat for removing the song.

I think you're taking it to the extreme there.

As for the removal, I wouldn't be too surprised if it was a licensing issue Konami/Microsoft overlooked and had to fix.

What do they do when the release something on a disc and have a licensing issue or another issue of the sort? They suck it up (settlement or whatever) and release a new version into the wild while the early adopters get to enjoy what they fucking paid for.

I have a gold cart first edition Zelda 64 sitting on my shelf that proves that point. It's got red blood and the Islamic hymn, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I earned the money for that content by babysitting my cousins all summer, and I'll be damned if Shiggy breaks down my front door, kicks me in the head, and swaps out my cart because that would be Shiggy saying to me, "You wasted every weekday of the summer. Thanks for your money. Here's some bait and switch, motherfucker."
Chuplayer has lost his damn mind........
No, I lost my mind shortly after 9/11 and then continued to deteriorate through the rest of the school year that year. This is just me being pissed off.

so you're blaming your irrational anger towards a video game on 9/11? good going.
Okay, okay. I remember the blood on Zelda, but Islamic hymn?
Yeah, the original fire temple music. It had some sort of chant or hymn or something that sounded like an Islamic thing. People complained, and it got changed.

Also, for the Non-N64 versions of Zelda 64, they changed some of the symbols in the game. Something about a sun and a moon symbol being Islamic or something.

No, I just explained when I lost my mind. 9/11 had nothing to do with this. Get over it.

nevar forget.

Getting back on topic, this does set a dangerous precendent. I'm no fan of "I Am the Wind", but if Microsoft is going to start removing content willy-nilly through patches, that's a sticking point.

Why wouldn't you get the Playstation (or upcoming Playstation Portable) version anyway? They've got better music (and all of it), better control, and you actually own them. And the graphics weren't "enhanced", they just let you turn on an AA blur filter, that smudges out detail.

That would be the only reason why I haven't bought the XBLA version (and its existence taunts me every day).

I love that MS is blamed for everything. Next time try to blame the ones who made the patch, not the console maker that the patch is made for.

Damn I hate it that gamers are the whinyest bitch asses on earth. Grow some balls and stop crying about this. If I'm not mistaken you can delete the patch or not dl it.

Delete the patch and you delete everything else, redownloading patches for everything else all over again.

Also, I didn't know I would lose I am the Wind by downloading the patch, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

I love this game. I just wanted to say that.
Maybe I'm more used to the DS vania's, but it would of been so cool if you could of controlled the familiars with the right thumbstick. Imagine how better the sword familar would of been. How better do the graphics look with the patch? My router went out so I won't be on LIVE for a while.

I had the same problem. I basically printed the maps on gfaqs.com and scanned the levels over and over again refering to the maps... realized I missed about 10 spots or so that I just never really went to... and they weren't even secret rooms.

I did that too, still couldn't find them.

Just beat Richters go through in around 15 minutes :haw:
I just got into the inverted castle. Do I have to beat the inverted castle first before I can play as richter?
Yes. I think you have to be at 198% before you can start a game as Richter.

I dl'd the trial version of Castlevania earlier this week, and then decided I would like to purchase the full version. I entered my 1600 point code, bought the full version and dl'd it. When I went to play the full version, only the trial version is launched.

I called Support several times, and they had me delete and re-download the full version. No go after I dl'd it. I then cleared my cache on the harddrive, and dl'd the full version again. The trial still keeps launching, and I have not been able to play the full verion.

Has anyone else had this issue with Castlevania or any other Arcade title?
