What I found out doing Wax Off was even if you move off the boundary and dodge some enemies, you can still go back to the same spot or to a different spot and keep going.

I was planning on not even attempting Wax Off because I thought I would just get pissed off at the game. I ended up trying to get it last night and I probably only had to try for 20 minutes before I got it. It's all about patience (and a little bit of luck). ;)
 
I don't see anybody else mentioning having trouble with the Slalom achievement. I'm guessing it's easy and I'm just doing it wrong. Do you need to hit the gates literally one second apart five times in a row? I've tried just rushing through 5 gates as fast as I can, trying to time them out a second apart, but no luck so far. Any tips?
 
Whew. This is one of the few games that gets my blood pumping.

I had trouble at first cuz I was actually thinking about it. You just have to wait until there are a ton of gates and just zip through them as fast as you can. Eventually there will be like 6-8 or more of them all on top of each other and the hardest part is just avoiding the ends of the other gates (actually that's probably one of the hardest parts of pacifism in the first place...).

I got mine easily when I was trying for the Wax Off achievement. Those gates spawn hellishly fast in Pacifism that it should be no problem to go through a cluster of them.

I took a 30 min break last night and went back on and got the Wax Off achievement finally. I got 99% and had to spend at least 5-10 seconds surviving just trying to find the damn last one while most of the screen was covered in gates and blue monsters.
 
I'd like some people to add me to their list because I don't have a lot of people on my list that are playing. My main modes of play are Pacisim (whatever the hell it's called) 24 mil and Evolved 17 mil, I'm on top in both on my leaderboards but need something higher to beat. Those aren't too high on the total leaderboards so I'm sure there are plenty of people here who have those well beaten.
 
For the Slalom achievement, I couldn't figure it out either. I ended up getting it on a stage in Sequence (one of the third row levels I believe) rather than in Pacifism.
 
If anyone wants someone at the bottom of their leaderboards, go ahead and add me. I'm not that could but seeing some higher scores could give me the motivation to get better.

Same actually. I was fearing that achievement too.

What I really like about this game is that even if you're absolutely terrible (me) it's still always fun.

Its funny thats the only game mode I'm not good at. 25 million is my top. So the only game mode we don't get to shoot in is the one I'm terrible at

snuck a game in while waiting for gf and managed to snag wax off. most pleasant suprise of the entire day!

For smile, do you have to beat ONLY those levels? or fail only those levels? Or just make sure you HAVE those levels?

end game adn smile are it for me :)

Well I am now ranked 79th in the world on deadline with a score of 23,054,470
 
I got 10 out of 12 achievements yesterday - the Sequence and Smile ones are going to be VERY hard to get. I've been to level 17 once so I should be able to get the Sequence achievement relatively soon but Smile might be out of my reach. This game is FANTASTIC. All of the modes are great - I'd love to see a few additional ones thrown in for 150-200 points somewhere down the road.
 
With my backlog, I swore I wasn't going to buy this game. Then, I woke up on Saturday, and, even though I have a huge backlog, nothing looked as appealing as this one, so I caved, bought 1,000 points online, and picked it up. Not regretting it one big so far.

I swear, I have had some bad run ins with 800 point games, which made me worry about this one. Bought Alien Hominid, Rez, Aces of the Galaxy (and I believe something else as well), and though I enjoyed all the games, I never played them enough to justify the purchase. But, I think Geo Wars here will have some staying power (like the first one did).

Though, I feel horrible after reading this thread. I thought I had a good King score, at 2.7 million (top 10,000). My evolved is over 7 million (one really good run) and over 3 in deadline. Guess I won't be leader of the Cag leaderboard.

You're a bitch. HOW!?!? I'm getting pissed off that I'm pissed off that I can't even come close to that when I play. I've almost got as high of a score as you in Pacifism but I'm guessing you probably played it once or something.

Oh well I guess it gives me something to work for. I'll never get 53 mil on Evolved

Hopefully we play in our NCAA dynasty because that's the only chance I have at beating you in either of those 2 games.

:) I was good at the first Geometry wars too. Top 1500
 
I love GW2. I'm on about hour 3 or 4 trying to get that damn Smile achievement. At first, I thought it was impossible. I think I'll get it eventually, but it is taking forever. I can get to the end of Sequence about every time if I try. Problem is getting to the end the way the achievement wants.
 
I'll never get that Deadline record, I could barely reach 8 Million. I don't know how you can poeple wrack up so many points in 3 minutes, 60 Million you got to be kidding. To achieve that you must have 4 Million in the 2 Minute mark and continue without dying.

The recently released (and excellent) Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 has a cool little feature we didn't know about until we heard it from Giant Bomb. Apparently, you can use a 3D camera to get a smashing new view of the playfield by pressing the right bumper and the back button on the Xbox 360 controller.

The shame of it all is that you can't use this during actual gameplay, just for 3D sightseeing. What we really were hoping for was a zoom-in option so we can check out the pilot of the claw ship and/or enter first person mode. We expect a lot for our 800 Microsoft Points.

right now I have mostly played pacifism since I got it, 88 million being best run
 
GREAT game, i really cannot see how anyone can say this game is not worth 800pts. the game is such a huge improvement over the first which was excellent ayway. i love the modes, and multiplayer is anice addition too. solid game at 800pts, honestly id probably have paid 1600 and felt it was worth it.
 
Damn I didn't know about the camera yet it isn't available for gameplay?! Yea I love pacifism the most, got the wax on achievement but am not able to get the wax off one. Sequence is a blast as well. Waves is prob least fav but already played it with PGR4 so that's prob why.

No the camera is just for looks. When you press right bumper and the back button at the same time, it just pauses the game where you are at and lets you move the camera around.

It's still a pretty neat feature.
