XBLA - Ikaruga - 800pts

Ikaruga is sweet. I paid $40 day one for Gamecube, and that was totally worth it. $10 is a steal. Now they need to put Radiant Silvergun on XBLA. And Under Defeat, too.

Although I did love the little time I spent with the gamecube version, I might pass on this game due to my general lack of skill at schmups and how challenging the stages can be. And I still have to finish N+ and Assault Heroes.
Dammit Linkin, 4/9 :p. You made me think it wasn't coming out until July...
QFT

I had a panic attack, but after reading, I'm relieved
wait...so what's 7/9 mean?
..achievements that normal people could never get.
ok..he probably was typing on a 10-key.

How is this going to affect the value of my still-sealed, Gamecube version?

Will it raise interest in the title, or will the value of the game take a dump, as it's availbale to 360 owners now?
Don't we have enough arcade shooters on XBLA already?
die.

it could go either way...you're call...i would think that the value of the game would decrease a bit, but now that i think about it...it could also increase a bit b/c of the publicity ikaruga would be getting = more potential bidders

either way, i never had a gamecube, so i'm gettin this sometime (probably in may after my final exams are over, haha)

I hope I enjoy this game. I should keep reminding myself I was willing to pay $20-$30 for Ikaruga on GC so $10 for it saves me either way.

I'd never heard of this game until recently. But given the religious-like fervor surrounding it, I'll be sure to check it out.

Still doesn't make me happy that XBLA customers have told Microsoft that they'd much rather have ports than original games though.

I've got my 800MSP all ready to go. I've got tomorrow off and am an extreme night owl so I hope XBL doesn't get crushed. Probably won't though since this game isn't mainstream enough and casual gamers would probably assume this is the same deal as Omega Five and not rush to get it.

I had bought 4000 MS points recently with 800 of it specifically going towards Ikaruga (and Street Fighter II Turbo HD, Dishwasher,...). IGN review makes me look forward to it even more.

Can't wait to try this I love shooters but was always to cheap to get the GC version. Will use the last of my MS points on this tomorrow night. :D

If this were a clearcut case of double-dipping (see Doom) then I'd agree with you. However, this isn't just another port. For the many people that never had a Japanese Dreamcast nor a Gamecube nor the inclination to hemorrhage money on one of the limited number of copies produced for both systems, this is the first time it's been made easily accessible.

I understand that, and that's cool. I didn't really mean Ikaruga. But it seems very few people buy anything on XBLA that they didn't know about before XBLA existed.

Compaired to Omega five and Aegis wing how long is Ikaruga compaired to those? Game length wise. It wont effect my purchase at all since im already buying it and to fully master it but i am very curious.

Longer, Shorter? Put the games in order if you can of game length

I think the date in the thread title should read 4/9. And I probably won't be buying this. I'm just about at the point that I will not give MS any more money.
"eye-karuga" lmao
=[ That's how I've always pronounced it.

At least you know now, and half the battle in won. Japanese "i" is always equivalent to English "ee".

I'll probably fork down 800 points for this Wednesday, but I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to getting destroyed over and over again by the difficulty.

Can anyone vouch for this title's ass-kicking AI?

The difficulty is real, RudyPants.

Once you get the hang of shifting from black to white, you'll start to get into the motion of things and you'll be able to play like this guy one day.

It's all right, Filbert. :) Wombat probably pronounces it as "eye-kar-ooga."

ZOMG! I had a hard enough part with one ship through that. How the hell can he keep track of both!? That's a damn lot of practice.

It's up! And it's a hair under 50mb

edit: They did a great job porting the game to XBLA. It looks and sounds and plays just as great as expected, and they even included 16:10 support (which is huge for me). Washes away the not-so-fresh feeling of the last month of arcade
