The price has been announced and it's 800 points:
Humanity’s Destruction Priced At 800 Microsoft Points
Ms. Splosion Man’s Accidental Creation Slated for July 13th, 2011

July 5th, 2011 - Austin, TX - The value of all life on Earth was originally placed at almost triple the amount of Microsoft points, but a surprise ruling from Twisted Pixel today cited a declining economy and a general disappointment in humanity as the root for assuring its destruction at the incredible price of 800 Microsoft Points. Minutes after Big Science Labs announced the capture of rogue experiment Splosion Man, all communications cut out. Unconfirmed reports of a “Pink Terror” led many to speculate on the existence of a “Ms. Splosion Man” - a second catastrophic experiment set to splode her revenge out from the laboratories of Big Science and into the world.

Humanity’s last brush with the apocalypse occurred almost one year ago, during the Great Meatening, a day remembered less for the terrible loss of many a scientist than for the vast flooding of delicious meat that rained down from the sky. Here now again, all of humanity rests on the razor’s edge - Big Science encourages all citizens to resist the sizzle of fresh tenderloin and mass destruction on July 13th, no matter the phenomenal value.

Ms. Splosion Man features bigger levels, pumped-up bosses, overhauled networking, ghost replays, and countless other improvements in a fifty-level single player campaign and separate fifty-level multiplayer campaign. Pick up Ms. Splosion Man for 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace July 13th here.
The price has been announced and it's 800 points:
Saw this on Joystiq yesterday. Day One for me, no question. If it was going to be 1200, I think I would have waited for a sale. It would have been tough holding off on a game I've been looking forward to so much; I'm glad they made it an easy choice for me.

Though I haven't played it enough to review it yet (in the middle of world 2), I can say now that the embargo's lifted that this is a great game. It adds some elements of classic platformers (DKC's barrels, SMB3/World's overworld map) along with their own stuff that makes it a good sequel for me. They also have a ton of bonuses that you buy, like Comic Jumper, and this game has the early option to buy an upcoming XBLA (
Retro City Rampage, which I don't think can come out until late August at the earliest.
) game early once you reach a certain point.

^^^ Awesome! How much is RCR? I have had my eye on that one as well ;)

Didn't realize this game came out this week until I saw the Joystiq review. I will be buying this game without trying it. Loved the first game and this one sounds awesome.

I just finished the single-player campaign and it was certainly a surprising way for that game to end.

Also, I'd suggest not looking at the Photos or Concept Art sections of the store, as you'll see spoilers for various things that appear later in the game or at the end.

Thank you for that. I appreciate it.

I also have decided to only read Joystiq reviews as they respect spoilers. IGN does not. Just read the reviews of this game on each site and you'll see what I mean.
its gonna be good.... hopefully
It's amazing. There's a wider variety of areas and things that were obviously inspired from other platform games, it's still difficult, and just a ton of fun to play. Only problem I've had was that I dislike the voice of Ms Splosion Man. It's amusing at first but kind of grating after awhile, but you can turn her voice down in the options.
I heard this game was supposed to be easier than Splosion Man but then I read reviews that say that it's harder?!
It's about the same overall, but it can be a bit harder at times since there are more mechanics at play in levels than there were in the original.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/13/ms-splosion-mans-tms-system-isnt-what-you-think/

Ms. Splosion Man makes use of the Title Managed Storage feature that games like Super Meat Boy and Monday Night Combat use to get around the update process:
Though Ms. Splosion Man features online co-op and ghost data races against friends, the folks at developer Twisted Pixel are, like, really concerned with keeping you interested in their newest game. One such indication of this is today's launch day announcement that the "TMS" (or "Title Managed Storage" system, as explained here) will add "special rules and new content" to existing levels on a rolling weekly basis. Like previous TMS-assisted titles (Super Meat Boy, Monday Night Combat), no patch or update will be required for the new content to appear in the game.

There will be leaderboards specifically targeted at the TMS challenges, from which the studio will pull winners to award "real prizes and other fun stuff." It heralds a "new way of giving away free stuff to people who buy our games," says marketing director Jay Stuckwisch.

Blind purchase for me, even though I likely won't be back on my xbox until next week. Splosion Man was one of my favorite games from 09. I dig the extra stuff they are doing for fans, but I probably won't take advantage of much of it myself.

I have all of TP games and I bought Ms. Splosion Man 1st day. I am looking forward to playing through it.

Tried out the trial earlier today. I was really liking some of the new mechanics, but the difficulty in the original really killed some of it for me. I'll probably just wait for a sale like I did with the original.

If you haven't done so already, make sure at some point you Cheat on the Game and skip a checkpoint. I never do that normally, but it is really worth doing so to see the Curse and hear the song that goes along with it.

Even though I'm positive this will go on sale seeing as all of their other games have, I still bought this day 1. Twisted Pixel really pushes the envelope on what you should expect out of a arcade game. While other dev's are giving us unfinished games and then nickle and diming us to death Twisted Pixel packs so much content in their games that I never even have to second guess if it's worth the price paid. I'm always happy to support them.

I got the hardcore achievement in the original splosion man but jesus I'm not sure I can handle it in ms. splosion man. These levels are so much more insane and longer I can't imagine going through without getting hit or dying.

The first TMS Challenge has been announced along with some free Splosion Man DLC:
As a special bonus for Ms. Splosion Man fans, Twisted Pixel unveils today the first in a series of themed TMS challenges slated for the combustible heroine. TMS, or Title Managed Storage, allows Twisted Pixel to publish free Challenges for the community that are automatically available to everyone who has purchased the game. The Challenge shows up in the opening menus of the game, but only for the duration of the contest. Twisted Pixel has teamed up with Destructoid for the inaugural challenge, with many more Challenges planned in the months to come.

Everyone who participates in the Challenge gets ranked on the leaderboard, and has a chance to win a Twisted Pixel and Destructoid prize pack including a Ms. Splosion Man light-up statue and a special Mr. D-toid Bobble Head. The prize pack also includes shirts and posters from both studios. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places on the leaderboards will each win the full Prize Pack, and a random contestant will get a Twisted Pixel prize pack just for competing! The competition runs until July 31st, so get to splodin’ and top out the leaderboard!

Twisted Pixel is also pleased to announce we will be launching a FREE DLC level for the original Splosion Man. Play through the level that takes Splosion Man up to his initial capture. Unlike the TMS challenges that go away after a limited time, this level is yours to keep! Look for it under the Splosion Man downloads.

Noice.

Just got the "You'll Believe a Ms. Can Fly" achievement, on around my thousandth try

HOLY CRAP, that was difficult.

Started playing this with my friends. Are we missing something? We already defeated the first world but there was no level boss. And where are all the movie reference cutscenes like the Total Recall one they've been showing? Are they only in single player mode?

Got an email about the new challenge that could get you a free copy of their new game that will be announced at E3:
On this Cinco de Mayo, Twisted Pixel is launching the fourth in a series of themed challenges for Ms. Splosion Man. The challenge shows up in the opening menu of the main game, but only for the duration of the contest, which runs May 5th - 20th, 2012. Twisted Pixel has a special prize in store for the top 5 leaders in this challenge.

In “Splokour”, Ms. Splosion Man does her take on the physical discipline phenome: parkour. Gracefully guide the femme fatale through the whole level without ever once touching the ground. For every time she hits the pavement the game will add 10 seconds to your final time, so try your best to stay airborne. The five (5) fastest times on the leaderboard by 11pm EST on May 20th will win a Ms. Splosion Man plushie AND a copy of Twisted Pixel’s next Xbox title, which will be announced at this year’s E3 conference on June 5th!

^Sounds interesting. I have been playing quite a bit of this game co-op lately and have been having a blast.

I don't think I will stand a chance at placing in to top 5 lol, but it will be fun none the less.

Played the challenge level. It was pretty fun. I placed right around 50th on the leaderboards. I don't think I can go any faster lol.
