Bastion had an impressive art style and amazing music, but I found the actual gameplay to be lacking. Specifically the combat was too simplistic and wore thin towards the end. Still a great game though, just don't think it's one I'd ever revisit.
Lol. I didn't say the achievements were easier in GW1. I was speaking in general. I have I think 4-6 achievements in GW2 but only like 2 in GW1. Both games' acheivements are challenging to get but GW2 is definitely easier to get some gamerscore out of than GW1.
I have 7 cheevos in GW2 and 1 in GW1. For what it's worth, I found the ones I didn't get in GW2 to be quite difficult. Don't really remember GW1, I'm sure they were tough as nails, but I didn't really even like the game so I didn't play it much at all.
Agree 100% with your Outland opinion. Great game and a steal at 400 M$. However, I would throw Bastion in there for GOTY along with Trenched ;)

M&M is also a wonderful game. I played the heck out of it on my DS.
Now I want to find a list of XBLA releases for the year and figure out which one I liked the most. Back shortly.

Edit: Half Minute Hero was probably my favorite. Ilomilo and Fancy Pants Adventures were both awesome too. Haven't played Toy Soldiers: Cold War but I'm sure it's amazing as well.
Ahhh thats why I haven't picked it up yet! It's another puzzle quest clone.

Actually, how does it compare to puzzle quest?
It really wouldn't be fair to call it a puzzle quest clone.

It uses the overworld and story style of puzzle quest, but other than there being some form of match 3 element and both you and your opponent having health and spells and fighting with the match 3 and...

Ok. It is kind of a clone.

But if you play it you'll probably agree it has a completely different feel. One that makes it feel more like a SRPG than a puzzle game.

it's just you said the GW2 achievements you don't have were brutal, which may put people off if they have bad memories of GW1
Can anyone with a family plan verify what is the family deal, I'm not seeing it

(I think it's GW2 and THP)
Redjoey, The family pack hasn't been showing up on the dash lately, I am a member. I think GW2 is the deal. THP seems to be a price reduction it is not gold only.

Good idea for a page. I'll add it to my ToDo list, hopefully I can get to it before the end of the year.

Does anyone know if these DLCs can be played by yourself? Or will you be forced to play in multiplayer? Anyone's help would be greatly appreaciated. ie. these games are getting older by the minute and soon enough there wont be much of a community if there is any right now, I'd feel better if I could play this stuff on my own and not have to rely on having to get someone else into the game in order to play through it.

It's times like this that I still hate the whole point system. I've got 160 points left over from buying BG&E a week or so ago and wouldn't mind picking up Panzer General, but then I'll be getting another 400 points and leftovers. Yes, I know there's ways to get around it with Zune, etc., but I'd still rather have my $2 and fork over the extra $.50 for PG.
awp, have you tried bing rewards?
This. You can redeem 100 points every week and a half or so via bing. I've probably racked up a good 2000+ msp since this summer for a minute or 2 of mindless clicking a day.
Got Prince of Persia: Epilouge DLC and decided to get Panzer General after trying the demo. Thank God for my 250GB HDD.
I thought I would never fill up my 120 GB HD and its down below 40 GB available after less than 3 years of ownership.

Thanks for mentioning Bing rewards. I just signed up and earned 44 points, which gives me over a third of what I need to be able to redeem the 100 MS points.
it's just you said the GW2 achievements you don't have were brutal, which may put people off if they have bad memories of GW1
I did. But I also said right before that that the game is great and worth the pickup. Sorry if I seemed to contradict myself. Hard doesn't mean bad to me.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction - Deniable Ops: Insurgency - 400 Microsoft Points -
I'd say if you enjoy the components of the offline/non-campaign stuff you will enjoy this DLC. It's more of the same so at least you know what you're getting into. It is much better co-op though (imo).

On the bing rewards subject, does anyone have the option to buy any points other than 100 ms for 150 bing? The 400 point reward seems to just be gone and it was a much better exchange rate

They reduced it to 125 bing pts today, the same exchange rate for the 400pt reward (which was 500 bing pts, but has been since discontinued).

I'm sure you guys already know, but you can earn 10 points a day through the end of the month for doing 20 searches on Bing. There are still 25 days left in the month, so that's potentially 250 points that can be used to get 200 free MS points.

Does anyone know if Texas Hold'em is a permanent price drop? I have this on disc and would like to download it for convenience but if it's a permanent drop I'll wait.

Haven't they been doing this for months? I've bern searching every day for what seems like a year to get those points.

I don't know. I just got my 360 last week and signed up for Bing rewards today. The offer I saw regarding the searches said it was only good through the end of December, so I assumed that it was a limited time offer.

They keep extending the date. It's possible that they'll change up the number of points or searches, but it's been holding steady for awhile now.

Cool. It would be nice to be able to rely on a steady stream of points...

they restart it, or sometimes change it up a bit (how many points you get for how many searches)

edit: i lose.

Geometry Wars 2 is totally worth 400 points. Buy it.

Considering Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for 800 points. I've never played it. Is it worth $10 without the multiplayer?

I do not enjoy twin stick shooters, so "no."

They took the multiplayer off line with the original XBL, but buying 3 more xboxs, 4 copies of the game, and 3 more TVs is worth it if you can play the multiplayer!

Is the Assassin's Creed 2 DLC worth it?

I'm real late to the party, but I finally grabbed a copy of the original and am extremely surprised how much I enjoy it. (Especially given I watched an old roommate play it and was bored out of my mind.)

I'll probably pick up the rest of the series very quickly as well, but if the DLC isn't worth it (or bundled in any later versions of the game), I'll pass on the sale stuff.

I would like to know this too but I am definitely picking up the DLC for AC: Brotherhood.

In the Forli DLC you have an escort mission or two and fight a horde of guards, if you're into that. (I was.) The Bonfire DLC has a whole new smallish area of Florence to explore, if you're into that, and I think six new kill this bad guy! contracts. It's fun. It's also just more of the same.

The plot flows better if you buy the DLC before finishing the game, since it takes place right before the last sequence. Something to keep in mind.

Also mostly unrelated, when I played through Sequence 12 the first time, my horse conspired against me and started moonwalking in a lake surrounded by guards who took turns killing me because I couldn't do anything but sit there. Awkward. I'm pretty sure that's not a thing though.

The Ghost Recon DLC can all be played by yourself, but it'll be really hard due to the huge number of enemies. With at least one other player, it's fun.

Oh wow, the content of this sale really blew me away, I don't even know where to start. Ubisoft pretty much took that PSN sale and took it up a few notches, good on them. I'll let you know when I figure out wtf I'm going to get. x.x
awp, have you tried bing rewards?
No, actually, I haven't frequented these forums as much as I used to (even with the deals, I still am trying to cut back on my gaming expenditures :( ). So I probably have been missing out on a way to earn some free points. Thanks for the suggestion!
Sorry if this is off topic but is anyone else having trouble connecting to xbox live after this latest system update?
Me! Looks like they're implementing the dashboard update a day late, but finally.

Also, I don't think they patched MKKollection today, I didn't have to download any patches when I played at two points in the day. Gonna see if Mr. Boon wrote about this on his Twitter.

Nothing, damn.
Sorry if this is off topic but is anyone else having trouble connecting to xbox live after this latest system update?
Hit your guide button and try to connect that way. It should pop up the new terms. Accept it and you'll be back online. This has worked for me and many others. I believe that you can also sign into xbox.com and get the new agreement there, but I can't confirm that.
Sorry if this is off topic but is anyone else having trouble connecting to xbox live after this latest system update?
I can't connect even without the update. Xbox.com says they are aware of the issues.

No luck with the guide button, then I went to Xbox.com and get "Uh Oh ...that shouldn't of happened, it appears you found a glitch in the system"

Edit: Thanks Spylon for the news that I'm not the only one.

Didn't buy Might & Magic Clash Of Heroes last time, but am giving the demo a try and hopefully it won't be boring as I last recall. Starts off slow but hear so much praise so here's another chance. Interpol i'll get and Bloody Good Time I hope people still play online, if not maybe we can get a cag group going for some cheevos!

By the way, I got the new update along with new Terms Of Service but I still have the "pre-release" section on my dashboard, weird..

Been waiting on Geometry Wars 2 to go on sale again; that was an INSTA-BUY. (Note: I do not have the Family Pack, and I was able to get it for the 400msp discounted price.)

I tried the demo for Bloody Good Time, and I couldn't stomach more than 2 minutes before shutting it off. Outland and Zeit are maybes for me. Everything else just doesn't appeal to my tastes.

I thought I saw someone mention that they sell MS points for below retail? I'd like to get 800-1600 in the near term.... Are they CAG Trade forums a good place to purchase from? I have the PayPal....
Sorry if this is off topic but is anyone else having trouble connecting to xbox live after this latest system update?
I received several different errors, but through shear persistence I eventually got everything to download and I'm now rocking the new dash.....Which overall seems pretty nice, but I wish there were filters or something set up for games (even if it was just demos vs. full games).

Ok, Im back online. Thanks guys, under my account on Xbox.com I finally found the terms you where talking about and it worked I think.

I followed through with the system update and then the clicking the guide and re-logging in. Worked like a charm, hating this new dash though, even if it looks prettier. And for those of you with Netflix/Hulu Plus issues like I had, you might wanna delete each app entirely from your hard drive and let it re-download, I think they're using an entirely different version of each app.

I don't like the new dash all that much either. I'm in the beta and we still have a tab called "pre-release", hopefully that gets updated and removed soon.

I guess I don't have the most recent version, is the "Video" tab still in front of the "Games" tab? If so, I find that to be fucking ridiculous. Let's see, did I buy my Xbox to watch videos or play games?

Also, the way arcade games that I own are listed now is really really bad.

Has anyone been able to find where this week's sales are listed on the new dashboard? I'm still trying to find my way around.

Thanks in advance,

-B

I don't know. I am really liking how fast I can move along with the bumpers. Though I wish you could just customize your own section instead of having to switch between a bunch for things like games, netflix, friends... Why can't I make my own section with all that stuff in it?

Also Cloud Storage means I don't have to start my Viva Pinata game all over again. As long as the saves can at least move to that, if not then fuckwhoever thought not being able to move your saves was a good idea.

EDIT: Also Netflix is changed just slightly......................................
