Also, has anyone ever been banned for using fake information in accounts, playing a game from a foreign account, etc.?
the language is? or the account i should've made should've been taiwanese? cus all i did was followed the link last page that said how to set up a japanese account. lmao...

thanks did just what you did and was able to download it

Just made a Singapore account to get this. At first, it showed as 1200 points but when I refreshed the page it changed to free.
Also, has anyone ever been banned for using fake information in accounts, playing a game from a foreign account, etc.?
I'd like to know this as well.

Happened with Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime earlier this year too. Why is it that only the crappy games are free? Speaking of Slime, I'm having problems redownloading Slime on my asian account. Is it because I switched hard drives?

Used my Taiwan account that I used for Sanctum of Slime and it worked.

Not that I'll ever get to either this game or SoS.

Can't pass on free, though.
You won't get banned. lot's of CAG's got Plants vs Zombies for free last year and none of us got banned.
Honestly I thought about it and if there's even a .01% chance of getting scolded for it. It's not worth it for Daggerdale LoL

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on D&D. I had a friend who bought this so we could play it local and it was such a steaming pile of shit, but as longtime D&D fans we were willing to try it out.

Hopefully this eases the pain somewhat grabbing a free copy. I dunno if the patch fixed anything or not, but made a account and DL'd for free, if only to spite the publisher.

thx basis for the daggerdale info.

Go to the download history. You can redownload there. You have to do that for games removed from the marketplace like the old yards game.

yeah did that and when you try to add it to queue it says.

"Sorry, this item no longer available"

You'll need to contact XBL support because according to them you always have access to anything you've purchased. They only remove it from their Store after a certain amount of time but that's only for new purchases.

Did you add it from the website or console? It generally works from the site but not the console.

Yowza, is daggerdale that bad? You've all convinced me that I shouldn't even bother looking up my Taiwanese account info for a free game. Quite a feat.

Hmm, "free Daggerdale" is about as appetizing as Daggerdale gets, but my obsession with ownership rights and achievements being tied to the account I already have is pushing the brakes for me.

Ownership is actually tied to the console it's downloaded to. Any account can play the full version and earn achievements. It'd only be a problem if your console dies.

You can still transfer your content license to a new console once per year. It'd only be a problem if your console dies often.

Hmm... fair enough, I'll investigate this process. That info and any other tidbits you may share are appreciated; obviously, I know little-to-nothing about this.
Ownership is actually tied to the console it's downloaded to. Any account can play the full version and earn achievements. It'd only be a problem if your console dies.
that's not a complete or fully correct answer.

the account that makes a purchase (whether it's paid for or "free" purchase) owns it. the first console that downloads it with that account does not have to be connected to Xbox Live to use that content. so person A buys something on console A. anybody can play that content on console A offline or online with no restrictions.

any time person A downloads that content to other consoles, on those other consoles, the person that owns the content has to be logged into Xbox Live to use it. so if person A logs onto console B and downloads it to console B, only when person A is logged into Xbox Live can the content be played on console B. no other person can use that software unless person A is logged in.

if person A wanted the content to be freely playable on console B, he has to transfer the license from console A to console B. you're allowed 1 transfer per year. this is to prevent someone from freely playing the content everywhere. and it also protects you in case your console dies (redownload the stuff to your new xbox and then do the license transfer). but if the person has done this, if he wants to play it on console A, he has to be logged into console A for it to work.

Forgive me, but I'm totally new to this...I create a Japanese account, download Daggerdale from there, then I can play it on my Xbox in English and the achievements etc all still work? If anyone has a step-by-step, or a link it'd be a great help. Thanks guys.

if you own something, you'll always own it. no matter if the item was removed from the marketplace. just go to your download history to redownload it.

so if you bought something like Joust. well, Midway went bye-bye and Joust was removed from the marketplace. I can erase Joust from my system and redownload anytime I want at my leisure. It doesn't matter how many times I erase it, I can always redownload it.

same thing happened to me for Doom. It was removed from XBLA and my second 360 didn't have a downloaded copy so I redownloaded it.
You can still transfer your content license to a new console once per year. It'd only be a problem if your console dies often.
I consider having to do the license transfer "a problem." I guess I could have explained that, but it didn't directly relate to answering his question.

I used the singular "console." I don't think it's necessary to explain that a single console is different than multiple consoles.

Step 1: Download Daggerdale
Step 2: Log out of the Japanese account
Step 3: Log in to your main account and play Daggerdale
Step 4: Get bored of Daggerdale and don't think about it again

Seriously, there's nothing you need to do. Just play it on your account once it's downloaded. I like to create accounts in other regions using Chrome because it has a built in translator.
You can still transfer your content license to a new console once per year. It'd only be a problem if your console dies often.
You can now do a license transfer every 4 months. Got Daggerdale free, glad I waited and saved me 600 msp which can go towards a different game now.

Wow, that was stupid easy. Sorry, I thought it'd be more involved for some odd reason. Thanks for the help and the free game! :applause:

I just created a Japanese account and a Taiwanese account on xbox.com. Is it normal for the site to auto-create a username for you? It did both times for me, and they're kind of... borderline insulting.

Yep, it gave me AlertedWalnut1 for my gamertag. But that raises the question of who chose AlertedWalnut...

Heard too many negative things about Daggerdale to bother making the account or wasting the bandwidth to download it. Pretty nice for those who were actually interested in the game though. I wonder if anyone here actually bought it when it was on sale a week ago...

Now I did create a japanese account, but it still won't let me download it. The website gives me some region crap and it just isn't there on the console.

You need to make a Taiwan account. I did the same thing. Finally have it downloading now, but for how bad this game is supposed to be, I'm not sure it was even worth all the trouble.

Japan is close enough, it should just count.... And I think if you know it is going to be bad then it makes it better. GI Joe is a decent movie, but I went into thinking it was going to be crap. I expect nothing from this game so I bet my enjoyment of it will be more than if I was expecting something from it.

I got a message that translates to "not available in your region" when I used my Japan account. It worked with Taiwan, so I'd do that if you're getting an error message

I did, but someone needs to talk to Microsoft about their generated names. My gamertag is DimmerSauce637

your explanation is still wrong. if you understand how DRM works on a 360, then no matter what situation you are placed in, you know what is happening. the multiple console example clearly shows you how the process works.

sure, you can make up any explanation for a given situation but you need an explanation that is correct so that you can apply it to any situation. like when people used to think that planets had circular orbits and came up with the stupid epicycles to explain that behavior.

anyway, I'm not going to comment more on this. I already get mad when people go too far off topic in a sales thread. this thread should be about stuff on sale and whether or not it's worth buying.
