LA Noire Complete is Deal of the Day today at Best Buy for only $20. That's cheaper and if you're on the Box contains a case that is otherwise unobtainable.

Hmmm, to get the MK season pass or not. 4 characters separately would be 1600 pts but only 600 for the pass but there's the mentioned MK Komplete Edition said to be coming out.

Yeah, all "gun type" props will be removed 1/1/2012.

Yeah, that's just really weird. 360 is home to TONS of FPS games, let alone games w/ guns. Now all of a sudden, it's bad if your avatar has one as a prop (it's not like they kill or harm anyone w/ said guns. Do they even shoot?). I wanna know why they had this sudden change of rules.

No to get to far off-topic but that was rule from early on. I guess MS let Epic slide to really push Gears.

If you stop and think the reason for the removal is pretty simple. Avatar purchases aren't ESRB rated. I child could purchase them against a parent's approval, etc and that's PR MS doesn't want or need. You can then look at people who have them on a friend's list. Mom and Dad might not want Timmy to see that kind of stuff that Crazy Uncle Eddie buys and plays. I know it's all dumb, but MS sells more than just FPSs to 20 something males. The have to make a kinds of dumb rules so they can keep the customers who are most likely to abandon them over something "trivial."
 
I don't recall there being a gun rule for avatars. If I'm correct, the same rules for making an indie game w/ avatars are the same rules for avatar props & such. Most of them make sense (no gore/blood, sexual content/outfits, vulgar/profanity, etc), but I just find it weird that NOW, after a couple of years, they decide to add "guns" to that list. I'm not one that cares for the Avatar Marketplace (unless something is free), but this just came out of left field. Hopefully, we'll hear from them more on this sudden rule.

Alright, voiced enough on that. Back on topic.

I wonder why there's no hints this year for the Xmas sale. It was fun speculating what exactly the hints meant.

My exact sentiment about the avatar marketplace. Honestly, avatar awards are cool. But paying for something for your avatar is really "dumb".

On topic - I really hope it ISN'T Street Fighter 3rd Strike tonight, as that may validate that awful German list. AND because we don't need back to back fighting game deals...

How do you think I have so many games to complain about? I PLAY so many crummy games. Hell, I'm still agonizing right now over that deal for the SR3 Season Pass. I didn't enjoy SR3, I KNOW Volition makes awful DLC. But I still want that Season Pass, and then I will come back here to gripe about it.

It's an awful habit but I like to be well-played on games that "could" be good.

Well the real DLC for it isn't out yet. By the description it seems like there's new areas/levels once a month starting in January.

I got mine free from THQ so I can't complain and it's the cheapest of the post- LA Noire/Mortal Kombat passes so far. Probably the best one has been the Forza 4 pass as you can get the Gears 3 maps, but with no achievements/skins, for free and that single-player prequel to Gears 1 wasn't very good from what I hear. Uncharted 3 has been nothing but skins so far also.

Thanks, I've been researching the "Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition" but it doesn't look like theres concrete info on what it includes. I bet it includes the skin pack someone mentioned but who knows.

I guess for now I'll buy the season pass. I haven't touched the game yet, but I bought it for $14 from Best buy a month or so back. I was planning on buying freddy anyway so I guess I might as well get 3 more characters for an extra $2.50.

Edit: The best buy deal ended up working out to $14. It was a pre-owned sale, B1G1 50% off + a $10 giftcard or something like that. I was suprised the used game was complete and mint (and tagged $39.99, hehe). :)

Yeah, I've been slowly chipping away at the game b/c I know once I finish the "story" I'll be less likely to go back to the game or DLC. I could just go back to Skyrim and neglect the rest of my pile of shame.

Honestly, I'd just wait and jump on that. Big Fallout fan that I am, I was impatient and bought the first two DLCs (on sale mind) and haven't even touched them. Excellent news, now it's just a waiting game for that to drop to around $20-$30.

On the deals front, I decided to get Rock of Ages already to make up for the void of countdown sales for me. I wonder when do we get our free apocalypse glasses for our avatars. I already got the theme, I just hope that avatar part doesn't qualify as one of the daily deals, like the theme (released independently of the deals).

I too am waiting to see if the Saints Row 3 season pass is worth it, because buying the game direct from THQ meant it was the first time paying full retail on a 360 disc game for me (was thinking the added Genki and Season Pass would validate a full retail cost). Furthering my unhapiness with the Season Pass is that it doesn't cover the small costume/vehicle skin/weapon DLC packs released since the game debut.

I did bite on Best Buy's offering of the 3 Rockstar titles with DLC included today. Now I can see for myself if those titles deserve the hype they garnered on release. (However, knowing my odd taste in games, they don't seem to fit the mold of my favor; so someone said it earlier, how deals may make one consider/try a game out which one would otherwise not have)

Again back on topic, you guys have the power to sway me towards or away from Renegade Ops ...

EDIT: while I wholehertedly agree avatar parts are ideal as game awards or free offerings ... it is kinda the thing to earn money by charging people for their individuality. Like a gun animated texture, or clothing piece representing some form of significance to the individual. I don't find it worthwhile, yet in true hypocritical fashion, I did buy a Sega Saturn T-shirt for my avatar =P (and two 40MSP items when Xbox Rewards offered an 80MSP rebate for two avatar parts). Maybe it is not just deal prices, but a last chance opportunity which may make me consider an offer; hmmm, my avatar can brandish some firearms ... maaaaybe ....

I will keep saying this in every thread where the SR3 comes up. Volition makes CRAPPY DLC. Buying the Season Pass blind is betting on someone who struck out the last three times at bat.
 
I'll wait til tomorrow for sure, but looks like Gears 3 season pass & ITSP for me, as long as it continues to be correct and MS doesn't throw in any extra sales.
