Here's an odd question: is there a way to sort on-demand Xbox games by price on xbox.com? I have some points I want to blow.
no, and the cheapest they get is $20 anyways.

This.
no, and the cheapest they get is $20 anyways.
I know. I am looking to pick up some $20 games. I already picked up Beautiful Katamari and Mass Effect this week.

While its nice that these deals so far have been new, I wouldn't say it's entitlement to mention that these deals pale in comparison to last years. (however reddjoey makes it sound like 2009 was awful)

However, im still holding out hope that toy soldiers pops up somewhere.

It's entitlement when people bitch and moan the games "they" wanted aren't on the list. Bitch if MS doesn't put up any deals. Bitch if MS discounts the games by 10%. Bitch if they put Risk up again, but a bunch of different deals? No reason to bitch.

It's not entitlement. Can we not be political for one day? This is a video games deal board, not the Fox News board. Saying that people looking for a good deal on some games is entitlement doesn't make sense. Add in the fact that most of the membership here falls outside of the age demographic that would even be able to grasp what entitlement is, and that arguement loses even more sense.

I'll just be waiting for a better deal to come along to spend my points.
Dang - missed out on the ebay guy with fruit ninja/gunstringer for under $15. If anyone sees another deal like that, please pass it on.
I think it was this listing for "$15.99 or best offer."

Give a best offer of $10 and it should auto-approve. There are 14 still available; I would try it myself if I had a Kinect. It's tempting to buy it and save it for when I find a Kinect for $20 in the future.

FYI: Gunstringer is a 3.8gb download. I'll assume Fruit Ninja is about 100mb :) UPDATE: 140mb

This is CAG. People will cry over a few dollars. In the IOS thread, there are people complaining that they missed an app that was free for a limited time and had gone back to its price of 99 cents.

it's not entitlement. I WANT to give microsoft money, but there's no reason to.
last year I bought 3/4 of the things on sale in the black friday/new years sales. The only thing I've purchased this year is the $1 Bastion DLC + I'll probably get ITSP.
Let's all be honest here, these aren't the worst deals. Remember back in 2009 when an SD movie rental on Zune for 80 MSP was the deal for several different days. A fucking rental.
Very True.
I am sure that there are those that could take advantage of these sales. And, as a true CAG, I am always a little giddy when any sale comes around and someone does not have to pay full retail for something that they want, even if it is someone besides me.

Happy Holidays!!!!

Ditto on owning most of the stuff already, or not needing the other stuff. Last year had much better deals overall.

And I'm not bitter, just disappointed that there wasn't that large or great of a selection this year.

And it is reasonable to compare XBox Live deals to Steam. Steam is a competitor, as a lot of people with 360s also have PCs, and Steam's sales will take away from Microsoft getting sales. Microsoft has always been the priciest of all the choices out there, and rarely ever have any sales that would qualify as bargains.

If Gears 3 season pass is actually half off, that alone would make the sale great to me. I should've picked it up a while ago, definitely can't pass up on half off.

I'd be really surprised if it was discounted that much. If so, I'd probably break down and buy it as well. 33% seems much more likely tho, considering 2 of the 4 packs haven't even been released yet.

I think everyone takes some of this stuff too seriously.

If someone were to counter back that they're paying x amount of money for gold and deserve sales they want, I would suggest not renewing your next subscription if you're unhappy with microsoft.
Dang - missed out on the ebay guy with fruit ninja/gunstringer for under $15. If anyone sees another deal like that, please pass it on.
Do you know anyone in the MS expert zone? You can get the disc of it for $12 from there. One of my friends did that for me...and when I went to get my wallet he said "Don't worry about it, Merry Christmas"...of course, now I think I have to get him something.
What's with people thinking they have the entitlement to assume others have entitlement, then start bitching about those peoples' bitching?
Thanks for the link and info. Was waiting to snag this when it dropped to $20, but for less than $20.....all over it. Just bought one

Also it is just a buggy-ass game, though decently fun when it's not crashing or erasing your character progress.
I thought it was just me.. I have had this game crash on me like 4 times in the last few days.. I even managed to get my vehicle stuck somehow and I couldn't proceed...
Renegade Ops seemed like something I'd really enjoy. The only thing that kept me from buying it full price were the forum members reporting game-crashing and save-corrupting bugs.

I'm disappointed to hear kevgret experienced glitches that recently. I don't believe Sega/Avalanche ever responded to the complaints left on their community sites, but I was still hoping that the worst had been patched by now. Asked for confirmation earlier but don't think anyone saw it.
Just saw on MajorNelson's twitter feed a few hours ago that people think gamertag changes will be free on X-Mas. This has been shot down, so don't expect that and please don't spread it here.
Heh. That same rumor popped up in 2009 & 2010.

The PSN and PC versions of Renegade Ops have been patched. Two add-ons were released last week: Coldstrike ($5), a new map with three missions, and the Reinforcement Pack ($3), featuring two new operatives. Microsoft's cert process is always slow this time of year; the title update and DLC should be available shortly.

I'm surprised how many people are avoiding this game. I purchased Renegade Ops for $12 during PSN's Play promotion, which included the upcoming Reinforcement Pack. Because Avalanche was late with the DLC, Sony threw in a free dynamic theme (the best one I've seen on the service).

Despite getting a good deal at release, I would have easily paid $20 for the game. It's the most sophisticated dual stick shooter available. Going through the missions on the hardest difficulty with four players is a lot of fun. Avalanche went to the trouble of including a split/merge feature with the local co-op. There's even a secret Smash T.V. challenge room toward the end of the game.

Renegade Ops has only been out for three months. Getting it for 600 points is a bargain. Please ignore all the whiners ruining this thread and snatch this game up if you're a fan of the genre. I guarantee you will enjoy it, and the bugs (which have been patched) are trivial.

Kudos to the handful of you who haven't looked at the deals of years past through rose tinted glasses. In 2008 the only sale was Bomberman Live...for 25% off! Please stop behaving like spoiled brats. If you dislike the deals, don't buy them. Instead of using this thread as a soapbox, please post detailed feedback about the games in the promotion to help others who are on the fence.

Also, am I the only one who remembers that the lists were leaked in 2009 and 2010? Despite slight variations on a couple days due to regional/publisher conflicts, they were very accurate. Bring on those season passes for cheap! And buy Rock of Ages, especially if you enjoyed Zeno Clash.

Man that is really tempting. If it had Child of Eden too I'd probably bite.

"Probably"?????
3 good/great games for $10 and you're not even sure you'd bite!!!??
I'd say go ahead and grab these two. Gunstringer is awesome and Fruit Ninja is a lot of fun for what amounts to 800 MSP.

disappointed with the deals after buying a lot of points

i decided to purchase joe danger for 1200, the free santa dlc enticed me and i don't see it being discounted for several months

That's a pretty big if... especially considering it would cause huge gamer raaaaaage from people that have already bought the Season Pass. But hey that never stopped Epic before. ;)

Since I don't have a Kinect and won't for a while I'm thinking it'd have to be an insane deal and this just feels like a really good deal. :p

Epic makes great games but they're kind of in the money-grubbing stage of a development studio. The ultimate goal, of course, is BioWare and Bethesda, where they sign on with publishers that are already well-versed in revenue generating strategies and proceed to spam their developer name to milk their reputation. Example: The new Command and Conquer is being made by BioWare. BioWare Victory to be specific. Oh wait, these guys have nothing to do with BioWare other than in name, they're led by the guy who made Trion Worlds and have a bunch of people relocated from the team that made Medal of Honor.

For shame BioWare.

Is the Gunstringer/Fruit Ninja game one code or are they separate codes? I already have Fruit Ninja and would like to give that code to someone else.

They are separate codes.

Man these deals have really sucked ass this year. I was hoping for a discount on crysis or code veronica x but based on the last few days it would take a miracle for that to happen. But miracles are all around me air water fire dirt f***in magnets how do they work?

I think the ongoing deals have been pretty good with Bloodrayne, Shadow Planet and Renegade Ops while the one day deals started off strong with Bastion but have sputtered since. SF3 was pretty good and GOW3 DLC could be good depending how much they hack off, but it would have been nice to see some more stand alone games in addition to the DLC. A lot of the stuff we have seen before numerous times, but considering how Bastion, Bloodrayne and Renegade OPs all interested me, I can't complain.

Unfortunately I missed out on Bastion because I don't have access to my account right now and hopefully MS can get it back to me so I can pick up Bloodrayne and Renegade OPs. They better get it back to me.

While I spend my time working on my backlog, Bloodrayne and Renegade, I'll probably see some good DOTW offerings I was hoping would be included in this sale.

I don't know why people think they can't buy games because their account is not available at the moment. My account for some reason won't allow me to add points, so what did I do? I just opened a silver account and used it to buy games. The games are accessible to all accounts on my Xbox. It's not the best scenario, but I did not miss out on any deals.

If you participated in their $1 for 1 month Jack's Link promo a few months ago, you'll need to call them and have them unlock your account. Had a similar issue, he said the system processed it twice and thus created a lock, took 5 mins for them to fix it.

Games are locked to both gamertag and console. Were I to switch a console, I rather just have everything attached to one gamertag when I switch it over. Also, not every sale is open to silver accounts and I have plenty of points on my suspended account which I can't spend with the silver account. I don't feel like buying extra points at full price for an alternate silver account; I am a CAG and prefer to buy points when they are heavily discounted in one of those Buy.com specials.
If you participated in their $1 for 1 month Jack's Link promo a few months ago, you'll need to call them and have them unlock your account. Had a similar issue, he said the system processed it twice and thus created a lock, took 5 mins for them to fix it.
THAT's why my account got locked a couple months back? I was wondering about that...it was annoying to have to contact them about it, but they got it fixed up without taking TOO long.
