Discounted season passes at an amusement park work on the concept that half the season is over so half the time you could use the pass is gone... These season passes are digital, all their content is digital, it will never expire in a meaningful length of time. Its just not the same.

As for getting the Gears 3 DLC first... Truth be told, I still cannot access the Horde Command DLC and I play allot of horde. Having a level 8 turret is no laughing matter and really no easy task so having it first doesn't necessary do someone any good.

Now, I did have a 15 dollar credit from Best Buy from when they went away from their former discount program so my Gears 3 season pass only cost me 15 dollars so I'm not 'angry angry' just annoyed at the principle of it all.
 
To Anyone Who Might Know: I purchased The Complete ed. of LA Noire, but was wondering about its Season Pass. Since I have the "complete" edition, I won't need to purchase the season pass. Is this correct? Thanks for the help! :)

I have 600 Canadian MS points left on a temporary Gold Canadian account just for this sale. I've sat on these point cards for over a year.

This is correct. In fact, you have a mission that is not even available with the season pass as it was a PS3 exclusive. So the only way to get it is through the complete edition.

The game pretty much just came out, so the real DLC isn't even out yet. If the season pass was dubbed "worth it" almost immediately after release people would be complaining that they cut out parts of the game to make as DLC.

That may take awhile. Last piece of dlc is slated for late next year and THQ already announced SR4 probably to compete with GTA V. I see can a dotw for SR3. The only reason I think microsoft put forza and gears up for this holiday is to make up for the lacking of arcade games that people wanted to see. Only two SOA games were discounted. Personally I could care less, bring on gears pass this thursday or friday (forgot the day on the last).
 
I bought the November pack just to test some of the DLC cars and they don't really deserve what they ask for a season pass. I don't even know the complete set of original cars to begin with.

There will be one story DLC per month starting in January according to the description on the marketplace.
 
Purchased the Forza 4 Season Pass. Pretty decent deal, especially for the amount of cars and stuff that will end up being included over these next few months.

Agreed. Out of all of the season passes, Forza is the one where you know if you really need it or not. If your not sure then odds are your better off skipping it.

Since season's passes for LA Noire, Mortal Kombat, Forza 4 and soon to be Gears 3 have been discounted.....I can be a true CAG and wait for the SR3 pass to drop. Got lots of games in my backlog I can go thru in the meantime

Not at all. I'd be very surprised if it's Elite since it's less than 2 months old and selling well. I think you're likely looking at map packs for MW2 and Black Ops.
 
Yes I love cars, and eventually I would have bought the pass. I was asking should I get it now? Is the price right for it? I guess I ll bite, I don't see it getting any cheaper ever. It's 300 pts for each pack, that's almost 50% off. Even if the packs go on sale again, it wouldn't be more than 50% off.

I would buy it today if it were 50% off like the MK Pass was. For 25% I will wait to see what the content turns out to be since I will be taking my time with this game anyways.

I do love the fact we are seeing passes get a discount.
 
not sure about picking up the Forza 4 season pass. won't some kind of ultimate edition come out eventually?

i bought forza 3 vanilla and bought about half the dlc (including the collectors edition dlc that i thought was suppose to be exclusive). then forza 3 ultimate edition came out, which wouldn't be a problem i would just download the rest of the dlc but they had "exclusive" dlc for the ultimate edition so i bought that and traded in my vanilla.

not sure what to do with forza 4. i got the collector's edition this year since the case is pretty sweet, but i think some kind of ultimate edition will be out in a year.
 
LOL guys, if you download the demo for Afterburner Climax and start the game you immediately unlock a gamer picture even though it's a demo. Must be some kind of bug but I thought it was pretty funny. Wonder if any of these will allow you to unlock avatar items with demos?

well that is total BS, I bought the limited edition for $80, and might buy the season pass today, and if they release another edition in a year with exclusive dlc, thats just stupid, so much for true/hardcore fans.

They're only free for PC if you preordered the game. The PC version was delayed like three times and released over a month later than the console versions.

Nope, many XBLA trials let you have free gamerpics, you won't get that out of Awards though.
 
Anyone else really excited for RDR content? I have RDR in my backlog.. and I think Im going to pick it up and start it today, would love to get the undead nightmare pack for 400 MSP.

Already got the GOTY edition through Friday's DOTD at Best Buy.

Would've possibly bought the Forza 4 content, of my local stores actually had some copies of Forza 4 left in stock. Everyone sold out on the 24th here.
 
If the 25% off of the Forza Season Pass in any indication, I think I will be passing on the Gears of War Season Pass. I was really hoping for 50% or something a bit more substantial.

Well 1800 for all the DLC is not that bad. The first 2 DLCs currently costs 2000 total. Even if the final 2 are priced at 800 a piece that would be a total of 3600 for the 4 pieces meaning at 1800 you get it all at 50% off.

Not really. RDR dlc has been discounted 3 or 4 times already this year and I picked everything up. Haven't even touched that game yet, so far back on my list of games to play.

Aside from the season passes being discounted, I think most who frequent this thread have already seen these items discounted throughout the year. Halo, Sonic, RDR, CoD. Etc....we might see a new item or two if we're lucky for each sale. Here's hoping the Anniversary map pack for Halo Reach, Sonic episode 4 at 400 points and Blops map packs drop during these individual sales. Else this thread will RAGE
 
At least the Halo Reach stuff is coming up. There is one map pack I never bought, so I'll snag that for sure. But otherwise, this Christmas sale has been relatively boring for me (not feeling entitled, just not interested in most of anything put up for sale ;) )

how does this logic work?

for one thing, if the content is important to you, it's a great deal. but that's the key.

I own the Gears season pass. If you buy the season pass at regular price, you're still getting the DLC for 1/3 off over the regular DLC prices. Yes, if you wait long enough, the DLC will go on sale but not always and sometimes it takes forever. I got the All Fronts DLC for Gears of War 2 for 1/2 off just 4-5 months ago when Gears 2 had become nearly ancient (though still an awesome game). So if the season pass itself goes on sale, that's just icing on the cake with an additional savings over the normal DLC prices.

So it's all a matter of how much the content matters to you. I love Forza but I'm not a car junkie. 500 cars is plenty for me. I am interested in new tracks like the Indy track that comes with the DLC but without knowing what other tracks are coming, it's a gamble. I'm sure they wouldn't put generic tracks out there.

But I'm a total Gearhead and the season pass was totally worth it as the pass was already giving me a savings. Sure, if the Gears season pass goes on sale, it would kind of suck for me as I would lose the additional savings but I got some great time and savings out of what I already have.

Some games are like that. Age of Booty is one I can think of.
 
Wow. Other than Ubisoft and Bastion, these sales have sucked. I remember last year the sales being much better. Hell. I'd even take the 80 point rentals over most of these sales. Well I hope the first DOTW in January is pretty good.

I got the gears season pass for free for a contest. I'm kind of glad it is going on slae because maybe my friends will buy it and play again. Only one I'm kindof looking forward to is the sonic one just to see whats available but probably won't get it.
