Does anyone know the average play time it takes to finish a campaign run on Case West?
I wasn't timing it, but I probably wouldn't put it over 3 hours.

yeah I'd agree about 3-4 hours, bought on sale and did some coop with a buddy, fun times.
You bet. Jackal was one of our favorite coop games when we were kids. I'd love to see a new version but I can always pop the cart in my NES if I really had the itch
Nice!
The arcade version of Jackal is available in XBL's Game Room if that interests you. I've got both it and the NES cart so I'm all set :)
Awesome. I need to check that out. I've only ventured into that thing once, to get some easy cheevos for setting up my game room and such. Hell, I don't even remember how to access it. Ha.
The new call of duty black Ops maps are out. Can't wait to play the new zombie map.
::start rant:: I really wish they would release a retail version of just zombies. I could care less about MP on CoD or the SP and refuse to pay for the full game just to get zombies (then pay $15 for a map pack when I only care about one map) ::end rant::

Saying that you could care less about something implies that you do care about it to some extent. Whereas if you couldn't care less, that would mean that you don't care at all.

If you've only ever played the NES version you are in for a treat! Although the NES version is a great port, nothing beats its original arcade glory.

Hey Bsmiff, why dontcha bump your Game Room thread and add a list of games that have co-op play? It would take a little research, but I'm sure many of us would be interested in knowing them all.

:) @ Bajingo

Updated the OP as far as the data that is out. I'm not near my 360, nor have I seen any info on the secondary sale. I have to run some errands, so I'll check back after lunch and make adjustments
Is there local co-op in Castlevania HoD?
Sadly, no. It's mainly an online game, though players can and should supplement online play with some grinding and soul hunting offline.

Picked up SOTN even though I already got it on PSP and PS1. it's worth another playthru.
No new info on next weeks deals? Surprised.

co-optimus has more info than you can shake a stick at, and presented nicely:

I guess I can kinda see why. You and your co=op players would be confined to the same screen or have splitscreen that is too tiny to see anything.
But that is still some bad news. I'll pick it up but I guess I won't be playing with anyone else then.
so is it easy to find a game online for Castlevania? I have no friends who have it.
This is my concern, none of my friends play it and I've heard the game is terrible single player.
This is my concern, none of my friends play it and I've heard the game is terrible single player.
That's debatable. I've actually had more fun doing some of the missions by myself, but if you have a group of friend that has the game, it's definitely a ton of fun. However, the online community for this is still pretty strong, and you can easily find a game usually within seconds.

When you play online, you'll also get the people who know this game and all of it's maps / missions by heart, so if you're having trouble with one in single player, there's a good chance playing online you'll breeze right through it in no time at all.

For what it's worth, I really enjoyed both the single and the multiplayer, but I could see someone making the argument on it not being "as" fun playing single as opposed to multi., as it is more-so a multiplayer game at heart.

Appreciate the insight, I'm definitely leaning more towards buying it now. I was a HUGE fan of Dawn of Sorrow, do you think it's similar to that?

Umm, Harmony of Despair has some elements from Dawn of Sorrow including stage design and the character Soma. But Harmony of Despair is stage-based. You run through set levels as fast as possible trying to get as many chests and items as possible and also grinding your character. Most of them level up/grind differently. You don't get XP from kills, but most characters' stats raise by using their special weapons/spells/etc. Soma on the other hand just finds souls (random enemy drops) and levels them up. He has so many souls (compared to everyone else's spells/abilities) it's ridiculous.

Oh, and most of the bosses are super tough/cheap (on Hard difficulty) and difficult. Many people would not be able to beat some of them without another character's help or at least the right high level gear. Hard is where the meat of the game lies due to having the best gear drops - once you've beaten Normal, there's not much reason to go back to it other than ooking for souls/spells/etc or maybe looking for certain item drops.

Completely different game. Dawn of Sorrow is story based and you level up. Harmony on the other hand is a grinding, 2D Diablo-type game with no story or true level up experience (yes, equipment raises stats but thats all). You go through the levels grinding for the best gear. You only have a set amount of time to finish the levels. All in all, if you like 2D and you like grinding type games, you will enjoy this.

I was going to pick up all of the extra levels for Castlevania today and kind of want to at least get one new character. I have already played the crap out of this game back when it came out so I am bored with all of the characters themselves and have already done quite a bit of grinding with them. Seeing as the characters are so much, I planned on just picking up one of them.

Any input on who is the most fun to use out of the dlc characters? I was leaning towards Julius or Yoko?

I completely forgot to buy the Dead Rising 2 costume packs last night. Oh well.

I think I will be actually saving my points for the first time in a while this week.

I like Richter best, but Julius does get to whip swing...

From my XBLDB price change page it looks like Snoopy is on sale again. I bet it's the family pack deal of the month. These usually last one week.

There was also tons of price drops on Games on Demand. Still overpriced but drops nonetheless.

I was lucky to have friends hardcore this when it first came out. They stopped playing it so long ago so i play with randoms. I am shocked it is fun with randoms for such a game. I do match make with mostly people from Japan the last time i was playing often. But you can find people cause it is a castlevania game of course. You will just matchup more often with the hardcore good players or people that just bought it.

Picked up SotN, I'm going to pass on HD though, online multiplayer isn't really my thing and the camera was horrible (or I thought it was) when I played the trial

Good idea, I'll work on it when I have some free time. Stinkin' Microsoft needs to get the Game Room gears turning again man. Bumping that thread is going to lead to a lot of disappointed 360 forum browsers and fans of, dare I say it, Sunset Riders :whistle2:(
Naw, the camera is fine. You click in the stick to change the zoom level, ya newb.
Wow, didn't know that. Thanks for the help, might consider it now

Pretty easy. None of my friends had it either and I play online a lot. I made a few xbl friends playing with strangers.

Julius and Maria. If you can only get one Julius will give you more playtime since he has more things to collect and level, but Maria is bad-ass maxed out and hilarious since she's a little girl killing everything in sight :p

I've been playing this game since launch and picked up all the dlc levels/characters as they were released. It is a must for 2D Castlevania fans. I have well over 300 hrs in it and still enjoy it.

So has anyone heard anything about Pinball HoF: Gottlieb's XBLA release in a while? How about any news on "From Dust"? Fez?

I hate it when XBLA titles are given a definite or ballpark release date and go MIA. I know reddjoey yanked such MIA titles from the upcoming releases list, but would a separate MIA section for these games be beneficial? Maybe with a link to the latest news?

Damn...Completely missed the dead rising sale...I only have 700pts left and I would've loved both dead rising games for 600pts. :(...I really hope it's part of the next edition of zombie week on XBLA sales.

I think that every XBLA game that's high profile enough to have been previewed by a couple of publications and looks good is hoping to be part of the Summer of Arcade.

Apparently Europe is getting an XBLA/PSN-only release of the Williams Collection in the near future. And there's a 3DS version coming out soon apparently. I think they moved on to other things, but maybe the Europe release means Gottlieb will be close behind? I guess we can hope.

Just picked up all the DLC for Castlevania HD, also nabbed Julius Belmont, thanks for the input guys!

I also finally got my buddy to buy the game as well! I am excited to go back and play this game, I played it for an embarrassingly long time once it came out a while ago.
So no double dip this week? Sadness :(

It was fun while it lasted right?
I blame it on the PSN outage. MS doesn't need to give us extra incentive right now. :p

Very true. I have both and I'm thinking other than PS+ freebies I might never buy anything again on PS3. I don't want my CC info out there. I already had a new card issued and changed my pin. : /

You'd give your CC info to Microsoft? I'll continue to buy points cards from third parties for both services, thank you very much.

I have to for now. I signed up for the $29.99 1 year reup dashboard deal with the halo avatar helmet (which I still have not received!). My account should be renewing in a couple weeks so I'm going to wait another 2 months after that and I will call them again for my halo helmet. They told me last time to wait until after my sub renews so it better show up (highly doubt it).

After that I'll pull my info. I have 3 12-month cards sitting on my shelf waiting to be stacked on my account once I get the dashboard deal.

As far as PSN goes I just never bothered with buying cards since they never seem to get discounted and it's basically the same difference (short of the possible theft of my CC info of course). Now that I know just how unprepared Sony was I may not be buying much from them at all in future. I may even skip the NGP launch (probably not though) since it's all digital downloads and I obviously can't trust PSN.

Thinking about picking up HOD but are any of the extra stages worth it? The retro stages look interesting...

What happens during online play if you're in a party and you don't have the stage?

Thanks for convincing me on SOTN guys, this game is sweet.

Oh and speaking of removing CC info from your XBL account, that reminded me I needed to do that.

I know it's been discussed here before, that you can't do it online and have to call their 800 number. However, I just found this page: http://support.xbox.com/en-us/Pages...account-management/remove-payment-option.aspx

CC info deleted no problem! If this was posted before, my bad, but I figure it might help someone out.

1. Glad you enjoyed SoTN

2. Maybe you don't know that there are about 50+ "announced" XBLA titles. The wikipedia page has a good list, but maintaining that big of a list here would be a big task. (I tried when I was doing the Marketplace thread. It was a couple tasks short of running a gaming blog)
