I've been browsing the Movie/TV Show section of the Marketplace and I noticed that the prices for Movies aren't half bad. Most non-HD movies are 240 points, while HD movies are 360 points. TV Shows also differ. I myself have never (in my life) purchased a movie because I feel the prices are outrageous -- they're usually $10-30. However, the prices on the Marketplace don't seem that horribly bad -- even though you can only rent it (14 days).

My "poll" question is, Do you buy Movies/TV Shows from Xbox Live Marketplace? If so, how satisfied are you? Feel free to share your experiences and opinions. If you did not buy a Movie/TV Show yet from the Xbox Live Marketplace, click the XBLM has Movies and TV Shows for sale!? option.

Unfortunantely, I cannot edit the thread poll options. I understand that the choices are limited (especially since there is no real "NO" option). Sorry for any inconvenience.

The movies are rentals....I say don't do it. I do buy TV shows, even though I only watch em once or twice. The only movies up for purchase are the Disney TV Original Movies like High school Musical.....because they really are only TV shows/
I've basically bought all of the flavor of Love episodes, a few I ♥ New York episodes, all the finales of those shows and maybe one episode of American Dad. I really just like comedy, although those Discovery Channel documentaries look intresting. I would buy more, but those DRM rules along with the RROD possibly happening stops me.
Where's the option for simply "No", lol :p
My dumbass thread editing skills failed me. I can't edit the poll (I tried). Thus, if you haven't bought a Movie/TV Show yet, click the bottom option. Sorry. lol. :(

Sometimes, I bought a few South Park episodes I really enjoyed and rented Swordfish to see how HD would look on my setup before I got HD-DVD.

My answer is no. I don't buy movies or TV shows anymore at all though. I never watch them more than once and I usually don't waste the money to rent them either.

I would buy many more shows if the pricing was cheaper. This is especially true for certain shows that are 10-18 minutes long, yet cost the same as shows that are 44-58 minutes long.

How they can charge as much as they do for certain things (like Robot Chicken) is beyond me.

I have bought a few south park episodes, but besides that I have never bought anything and can't think of anything i would want to buy.

I have rented a few movies it is easier then going to Blockbuster. Its the same price as going to the video store you just have to start the downloads an hour or so before you can watch which kinda sucks

I would but I dont have enough space on my 20 GB HD to download the HD movies. They have a lot of good movies that I would rather download online then go to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.

I'm going to rent Akira cause they have it in HD... that is all.

I do wonder why they have the Sarah Silverman program in HD, but the DVD isn't even widescreen.... makes no sense.

I would agree with others with the unavailable "No" option. I know about the services provided but I don't see the value in it for me when you can pay basically the same amount and get four Blu-Ray movies delivered to my door per month via Netflix.

It doesn't make sense to throw money away on HD rentals when they're compressed (although not very much). I'd take a non-compressed Blu-Ray or HD DVD any day.

Have not bought any nor do I plan on it. I like owning the physical media and displaying it. No interest in digital downloads.

Nope, not much interest in digital downloads. Prefer to buy the DVDs for something I like enough to own and just netflix it otherwise.

Haven't bought any movies or television shows, might rent a movie when there's something that I feel is worth seeing in HD but otherwise it cost too much.

I've rented a few movies with no problems at all. I like it, I'm glad they have this service available. It would be nice if HD movies were a tad cheaper though.

I rented The Terminator in HD a few days ago, and if they had the other two movies, I'd rent those as well. I think it's pretty convenient, especially since I only watch movies once. It beats Amazon/TiVo's Unbox.

I was on the verge of downloading a few movies but they cost too much and I've recently just downloaded torrents for movies.

Hell no.

If I rented movies and such, I might. But if I wanna see something I usually just buy it on the cheap.

No. I bought the first episode of this season of Rob & Big since I missed it on TV, and it had already passed through on demand, but other than that nothing.

I've only "bought" 1 movie (IE: rented). I had just gotten my new HD TV and wanted to test it out with some good Hi-Def content so I downloaded V for Vendetta. The download took forever on my DSL connection and the quality was so-so for Hi-Def. So after that experience don't think I'll ever be getting anything from there again unless I'm in a serious pinch and it's a matter of life and death that I see a movie and the only way to see it is by getting it from the marketplace.

I hate the idea of only getting the movie for a couple of days or only a few playbacks. I'd much rather put the money towards owning an actual physical copy of what I'm watching. I also don't like the quality, in order to speed up the download the stuff is compressed and looks worse then what you would get if you had the actual HD-DVD or Blu-ray disc. If I had to rent, I'd rather get netflix or go to blockbuster so I could get better quality, or if I had to download just go the shady route and bit torrent it.

I would be awesome if they did on demand for a monthly fee. That would save quite a bit of money and somethings would be watched. Do you really think people are buying those Nick Jr shows??

I've only rented one movie so far, but I think I'll be renting more. The local video store charges more and doesn't have that much better of a selection. So if I can rent a movie without leaving my house, then I'm set. I don't have cable or satellite, so there's no option there either.

The prices are as follows.
New Releases: $4 SD, $6 HD
Everything Else: $3 SD, $4.50 HD

On the other hand, I see enough TV shows during the week and I don't follow any of them that closely that I never feel the need to go back and catch up. All the major broadcast networks have their shows up on their sites now anyway.

I wasted a lot of my free SmarterChild points on HD movies... the only thing that sucked was waiting for them to finish DLing, but, free is free. :p

They really need to lower the cost (MS Points) if they really want this to take off. I use blockbuster online and with unlimted movies per month the cost of downloading a movie just isn't worth it. Now if they came up with a per month fee that allowed you to download an unlimted or even a reasonable amount of content for the cost, then I would consider it.

Nope. As far as I'm concerned, my game system is for gaming, not watching tv. Besides, I'd rather have the physical media.

I don't like your poll selections. I have bought both, but I sure as hell don't do it on a daily basis.

I have bought a few TV shows that I couldn't download easily off bit torrent or usenet. Mainly because they were older shows. I also probably rent a movie once a month. The last one I rented was Rocky III in HD. :D

Nor do I. I tried to edit the poll after I created it but to no avail. Nor could I delete the thread (I can only close it -- and even then there would be two identical threads). The poll is pretty much screwed up. :p
You may know this, but judging from your post it seems like you don't. The movies are rentals.
I actually learned that several minutes after I created the thread. Even though you only get the movie/show for 14 days, I would probably only watch it once or twice anyhow because I practically rarely watch a movie or show more than once. Although, I would like an option where you can own it forever.

I agree with the people who talked about a monthly fee. I think whenever there's a good unlimited monthly program I'll start paying for that. Especially if they have a card to buy the subscription and you can get it on a good sale...

TV shows you own forever.

Movies you get to keep for 24 hours after you first press play, you have 14 days to press play before it expires.

I would buy some when I got a good HDTV. Currently, I play my 360 on my small 17" LCD screen. When I get my 27"/32" in my bedroom I will probably give it a try, and if I like it I think it'll be worth it for certain movies, i'd buy it for the ones that make use of the HD.

There's not really a choice for me as I just occassionally purchase TV shows and rent movies. I will buy the TV shows if my DVR has to erase some because I haven't watched them yet and it needs the room (since I always record them in HD) and I've only recently rented movies (Justice League New Frontier and King of Kong.) I bought the last few episodes of Veronica Mars and 1 episode of Moonlight and that's been it.
