Um....Yeah, they said the "two games a month" deal started in July. Also, in the E3 conference they didn't say that Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2 would be the first games they gave away, just that they would be a part of the freebies. That doesn't mean that those aren't the first two, but I'm not going to be surprised if it's something different.
I don't want to get into an argument because it doesn't matter, but what Yusuf Mehdi said was "To kick off that program, I'd like to share just two of the titles we're going to offer over the next few months: Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3."Um....Yeah, they said the "two games a month" deal started in July. Xbox Live Gold members will begin receiving two free games per month starting July 1 with Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3, Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi announced during the company's E3 press conference today.
Also, watching that video he says it goes through the release of the Xbox One so I never figured it would just stop with the One's release. I hadn't seen that asterisk, where did that come from? The xbox site?It also extends past the X1's release date, contrary to popular belief.

I played a ton of multiplayer on that game during the first year I had my xbox 360. I remember I had that game, need for speed most wanted, and call of duty 2 as my launch games.i would not mind perfect dark zero i have yet to play that game
Fairy Tale Fights and Madden 06 baby!If Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3 are the best games this program has to offer, I will laugh, and so will a lot of other people. But I imagine it's going to be one first party and one third party game a month until whenever this thing ends. I don't expect them to be great games, either.
that's one of the downsides of ps plus. they love to give you free games that are bigger games that most people have played. i would like if both sony and ms would give us the games that not many people have played.I just hope they at some point release something I haven't played already. I've played a lot of 360 games so chances are I'll have most of them, I just hope I actually get 1 or 2 out of all this.
Hehe yeah that was the only multiplayer game that would work on my satellite connection so I played a crap ton of that game. Bots also helped and yeah I didn't play Perfect Dark before so I wasn't that disappointed. Played Perfect Dark when it hit XBLA and then was like ohhh I see what everyone's talking about.I played a ton of multiplayer on that game during the first year I had my xbox 360. Nah they'll offer games that made their profit margin and can afford to give out their game. Games that are hidden gems and such need to make up their profit margin as they're still most likely in the red.that's one of the downsides of ps plus. they love to give you free games that are bigger games that most people have played. i would like if both sony and ms would give us the games that not many people have played.I just hope they at some point release something I haven't played already. Once you get it, you own it, regardless of if you still have gold or not.Does anyone know if the gold subscription expires if I could still play Fable 3 as a silver member if I already downloaded it or does it work in the same manner of PS Plus that I only have access to it if im a gold member?
Yes if true, +1 to Xbox Live Gold. I've always felt that PS+ free games were just rentals since they go away if your subscription runs out.Once you get it, you own it, regardless of if you still have gold or not.Does anyone know if the gold subscription expires if I could still play Fable 3 as a silver member if I already downloaded it or does it work in the same manner of PS Plus that I only have access to it if im a gold member?
De... Defense Grid?In case anyone hasn't heard Halo 3 and AC2 are as it turns out are not the first two games. They will just be part of it at some point. The first game is an XBLA arcade game Defense Grid: The Awakening. Very disappointing to hear that arcade game are being included.
Those are the only ones that have been announced. Although who knows when AC2 and H3 will actually be free.So have the only games been Fable III, Assassin's Creed II, Halo 3 and Defense Grid?
Fable 3 has only been free to DL since the second week in June.I thought AC2 and H3 were last month? I have them on disc so I didn't even bother to get them. Same with Fable 3, never downloaded it. I only plan on getting what I currently don't have. Hell I think Fable 3 has been free to download a few times.

I can confirm that Assassin’s Creed II will be the next free title released in the Xbox “Games With Gold” Program
You don't have to even download it fully. Just purchase it then cancel the purchase and it will still show up. You may have to delete the temporary file it put on your HDD but that saves time from waiting for the full download. Thanks for all of the replies.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a game. My 250gb hard drive is almost full so I downloaded Fable 3, then deleted it. It still shows I "paid" for it and when I look up Fable 3 on the Marketplace it asks if i want to "Download Again".
I wish I knew that when Fable III, which I have the disc version, was free. Would have been nice to have the option later on.You don't have to even download it fully. As long as you are a gold member during it. It's just listed as free on the marketplace for gold members, the same way demos used to be (maybe still are). In short, you should have no problem downloading it later.Do you need to be a Gold member before the timeframe starts, or can you join mid-way through the timeframe and still download the game? I ask because my Gold subscription won't arrive until like the 17th, and the AC2 promo will have already started.
