I got a play and charge kit for my 360 and when its in the troller it faintly lights up the four lights on the troller (while its not plugged in or turned on). I tried removing it and then reseating it but didnt work to make the lights go off.

I tried it in another troller and got the same thing. So I took it back to WM and got another and its doing the same thing. Is this normal?
YES. This simply means your "troller" is linked to the 360.

Do I have to condition the battery packs to get the optimal life span or can I just charge 'em whenever?

Some battery packs (Sony ones for camcorders, etc.) suggest you run down the battery completely before recharging to go through a full cycle. Do I need to do that w/ the 360 battery packs?

Does every game have the option to stream music from an iPod or something instead of listening to in-game music? Specifically, I want to listen to my iPod while playing Hexic or Geometry Wars... THANKS!
Does every game have the option to stream music from an iPod or something instead of listening to in-game music? Specifically, I want to listen to my iPod while playing Hexic or Geometry Wars... THANKS!
Currently, yes. They have stated in the past that developers could block streaming from a device if they wanted to though. (I don't think they can block songs directly on the harddrive or streamed from an XP PC though.)

The answer to your next question: Once you are in a game, just hit the guide button to pull up the side menu. From there, go down to the music option and then select what music you want to play.

how does the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Charge? do you have to go buy the charge and play or a battery pack? or does it come with a cord to charge it with>?
how does the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Charge? do you have to go buy the charge and play or a battery pack? or does it come with a cord to charge it with>?
It comes with just normal AA batteries. In order to charge, you would need to buy the Charge & Play kit. The kit comes with the rechargeable battery and a cable to plug into a USB port on your 360. They sell the batteries seperately as well and an AC adapter is going to be released for charging them in the near future.

Awesome thanks. I kept streaming the music and then trying to start a game and the music cut out every time...

Hey Shipwreck (or anyone else who may know) - When you download Xbox Arcade games, can they be freely moved between your memory card and hard drive? I ask because the bankshot billiards game that comes with the Live Starter Kit says it is 30MB in size and can be downloaded to your memory card or hard drive. If I download it to the memory card can I later move it onto the hard drive? This sort of info will be handy to people who may want to upgrade to a larger hard drive in the future and keep their Xbox Live Arcade games.

Yes, you can freely move the Arcade games to your memory stick and vice versa. They are tied to your GamerTag though, so I think you might have to through your GamerTag on your memory card as well if you wanted to take your arcade games to play on a friends Xbox. I actually just got a memory card yesterday, so I should be able to test this out if no one else posts about it.

Update: Okay, so the way it works is that once you log in to your account on another Xbox 360 and go to Arcade, it will recognize what you have purchased or not. If your friend's 360 has a game that you purchased already, you will immediately be able to play under your GamerTag. If you brought the game on your memory card, you will be immediately able to play with your GamerTag. If your friend hasn't downloaded the game and you didn't bring it with you, you can redownload the game for free and play with your GamerTag. Pretty slick.

Now if you log back in with your friend's GamerTag, he will only be able to play the demo version of the games you own (if he doesn't own them as well).

Is there any way to get Hexic HD back if I had to format my hard drive? I don't see it on there anymore and I don't think the 360 came with a disc that has it. I also don't think its available in the Marketplace unless I'm missing something.

Nope. The douches at Microsoft did the same thing to me. Made me reformat, and I lost everything.

probably the only way is to get it from a friend on a memory card or something
Will any USB network adapter work with the 360 or do I have to buy Microsoft's $100 one?
I have the same question. Does any a/g/b compatible USB adapter work?

xbox365 has a new article describing how you can get hexic back: http://www.xbox365.com/news.cgi?id=GGPLuLGidL01260521

"So if somehow Hexic HD was deleted off your Xbox 360, be it by an accident or a conspiracy by Sony to interupt your gaming pleasure, fear not my child. For there is now a way for you to get the game back on your Xbox 360 and yes it's legal.

Here's how it works, first off you need to contact support:

Phone
Assistance by phone seven days a week.
1-800-4MY-XBOX

International (direct dial to U.S.): 425-635-7180

Hearing Impaired (TDD device): 1-866-740-9269 or 425-635-7102

Hours of operation (every day):
9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern Time
6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Pacific Time

And tell them your issue, what will happen is that they will request some information from you and then give you a code to give you access to the game download.

Do note that it may take a while for you to get the code, sometimes a few days for Microsoft to contact you back, but you will get it."

Ok, I got a refurbished xbox 360 back from msft. For some reason whenever I turn on the system, I have to log in to live. My original model, it would do it automatically when I turned it on. In one of the sub menu's I do have enable auto sign in, but it still doesn't log me in. Any hints/suggestions on how to get it to work.

Does anyone still have the rebate form that came with the 360 starter kit? I needed the website on the back where you can track the status of your rebate request. Forgot to write that down before I sent it off. Thanks.

Thank you for posting this. I finally decided to give them a call, and they're going to call me back and give me a code so that I can get Hexic back.

I'm sorry for asking this, but I'm a complete n00b to online play and was wondering what I'll need.

(I'm currently running on a high-speed cable modem and have no way to connect it directly to the system)

If its going USB to your computer you could use Internet Connection Sharing to go from your PC to your 360.

So it'd be : Cable modem (USB) -> Computer (USB IN/ETHERNET CABLE OUT) -> Xbox 360 (Ethernet Cable).

There are detailed instructions on Microsoft's website on how to enable Internet Connection Sharing on your PC.

then unplug it from your PC and plug it in to the 360.

Okay I got a question here for ya folks...

As being a 16x9 TV owner with the 360 does it try to stretch mode any 4x3 DVDs or will it let you play them with either gray or black bars on the side? Many thanks for any answers in advance folks. :D
Or just get a router. :)
Also, if I got the router, would that be all I need or would I need the Microsoft "Network Adapter" thingy as well?
Also, if I got the router, would that be all I need or would I need the Microsoft "Network Adapter" thingy as well?
Not if you got a wired router.

It has an input for your cable modem, then plug your PC and your 360 into it and both will be on the internet.

He could also get a wireless router and still have it hooked in wired. I highly recommend getting a wireless one for use with the Nintendo DS. Mario Kart DS is a blast online.

Just wanted to give a heads up if anyone is interested. For you 360 owners... VGO Network store has Dead or Alive 4 Arcade Sticks made by Hori in stock for a good price of $59.99. They also have the 360 Hori Turbo Pad EX for 34.99. It's probably the best 360 controller out on the market aside from the official one. Great alternative if you don't like the wired/wireless MS controllers.

Also they have a bunch of other stuff such as EVO shirts/banners, Sanwa arcade parts for your joystick building/modding needs, and even the hard to find Hori GameCube digital controller. VGO will be putting up preorders for Hori Real Arcade Pro arcade sticks again in the near future, don't miss out!

1) What's better to use: 720p or 1080i? I've read p > i, so 720p > 1080i. I've also read 360 games only go up to 720p anyway, so it doesn't matter.

2) Everytime I play NBA Live 06 on XB Live, I get "connection lost with opponent" during the game. After that, I immediately check my online status and I'm still online. So is it my connection that's shaky (my framerate does get a bit choppy, but it's managable) or is this the way of the XBox Live world where people quit a game when they're about to lose?

This has happened to me three times in a row. I'm pretty new to Live, so maybe that's just how it is. If only someone would finish their game with me so I can get these last achievement points!

I'm not gonna come out and say one over the other 'cause someone will come out and say the other is better. I suggest you download a previous Major Nelson Podcast (the one with the HDTV guy interview). That pretty much sums up a few of the points in this debate. 720p does a lot of good things for gaming.

ok, i searched but couldn't find the answer:

I don't own a 360 yet (i stress yet), so please excuse my ignorance on the matter.

Is it possible to connect your 360 to your PC and use the harddrive on the PC for storage? Or could you hook an external HD to the 360 via USB or some other form?

Will old Xbox owners still be able to play the newer Xbox Live Arcade games coming out, like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Street Fighter: Hyper Fighting? I remember Live Arcade had the option to pay for a game and download it to your harddrive; is it still the same for ALL Live arcade games, no matter which system?

Question: Why the hell is my Xbox freezing? It happens quite frequently (but not all the time) when I play DOA4 and when I play Burnout after about 20 minutes I get a "disc is dirty and cannot be read" message. Why do I get the feeling this thing is a POS (though I do love it when it is working properly)?

Well, for all those times that you picked your nose, God is getting his revenge on you.

I'd begin to worry personally, but mines been running fine since launch. If the freezing becomes more frequent, give us a heads up and call Microsoft ASAP.

Hope you got that warranty too.

You can connect your 360 to your PC and store all your music and pictures on your PC, but you can't transfer game demos or saves to the PC.

Unless you're REALLY picky you shouldn't notice a dramatic difference between 720p and 1080i. It isn't as extreme a difference as 480i vs 480p. You might as well have it set for 1080i if your TV supports it, but 720p is perfectly fine.

1) It's best to use whatever the native resolution of your TV is. If it's CRT-based, 1080i would be your best bet, while LCD, DLP, and most plasma TVs are best in 720p. Progressive formats are better for anything with a lot of motion in them, like games.

2) If everything is good on your end, then the problem is either with your opponents or EA's servers.

Anyone use the TRANSFER KIT by Codejunkies yet? I believe it allows you to transfer saves from your PC to your 360 Memory Card. I'm thinking about getting one with NCAA 07 coming out in spring/summer and there are already downloads for NCAA 2K6 Hoops.

you seem to be in the exact spot im in. Gotta have named players and draft classes so ill probably pick one up, but i wanna know how it is first. damn.. i also need a mem card

My 360 read PGR3 as a DVD today. I put it in and it said "Play this disc in a Xbox 360 game console", which is what I'm guessing happens when you put it in a DVD player. It worked after a simple restart, but I was just curious if this happened to anyone else, and if it means anything.

My buddy just got a 360 and has what seems like v-syncing issues in menus and games. It seems like a problem in his settings, but he has his cords set to standard TV like he should. Anyone have any suggestions where to get answers for this beyond messaging Microsoft?

I have a question.
If I buy my Xbox from another country (UK), and I live in the US. Would I be able to still play games I buy from stores here, or does it have a region code thing?

No. You would only be able to play UK games on that console.

Well GRAW finally killed my 360... I played it only for about 3 hrs and then it froze. Tried resetting my 360 and playing again, but this time it froze within 3 min. So i let it sit there for about 6 hrs and tried again when i woke up this morning. Same thing. Poppede in another game, and it was doing the same with the checkerred screen. I guess that was it cuz now my 360 gives me the Red Lights of Death. Sometimes I am able to load it up, but when I do I usually get it to the Xbox logo and it freezes. Gives me a screating sound and checkered screen. I called it in today to support and they are sending me a box... Hopefully when I get the replacement, everything goes well...

Do 3rd party corded controllers work on a pc ?
I'd like to check out some PC demos , i.e. Tomb Raider , using it as a demo of a 360 demo .

There is an "Xbox 360 officially licensed product" logo on most but never the wndows xp compatability logo .

If anyone has a 3rd party controller can you check this out .
Let me know the brand , and if it works or not .

I know MS has exclusive rights to wireless controllers....do they have exclusive rights for any other accessories? Memory Cards is what I'm curious about....I want to get one for NCAA rosters when the time comes.
