Good God I'm glad I'm not interested in the 360 right now...

Cheap Ass Gamer Link

But for those of you who are, how about $700 for the premium system, 4 games, another controller, and more?

Or $600 for the cheaper system with much of the same.

The newsletter also states you can put down $50 to preorder it in stores.

you get an extra controller, the play and charge adapter, and the rechargable batter pack...$399 for the system, 4 games x $50 is $200, that is $599, and you get the extra controller which has a msrp of $50, play and charge which is $20, and the rechargable battery at $11.99...that is $681...add $10 for the LE edition of PD0, and DOA4 is priced at 59.99, that brings you to the $699 price....they aren't ripping you off, if you don't want it go elsewhere

It's called forcing people to buy games people might not want. I just want the option to buy just the system, or if you want to force people to buy games too give them your own options. I don't think this practice is the best for consumers for whom we pay them.

Its called go to the store you don't have to buy it online, yahoo will do packages along w/ every online retailer. The packages will only be online just like they made 3 different packages w/ the psp online ONLY when it came out.

I really don't see why everyone is complaining. Most just seem to want to complain about the 360.

Its called you should have preordered the system only at EB B&M when it was only a 20 down. It isn't our fault or problem that you are a fat douching idiot.
Yes that is correct. If you want the system the greater power of EB Games want you to buy the system for $700. You can buy the crapped down version for a low low price of $600 too but you will eventually shell out another $100 for the hard drive so you minds well buy it from day 1. Personally I just wanted the new system and Madden and I'd been happy for a few months. Now I'd have to pay $760 plus shipping to get that.

The 4 games that they have listed to FORCE you to buy are:
Perfect Dark Zero Limited Edition
Dead or Alive 4
Kameo: Elements of Power
Project Gotham Racing 3
I wrote the following letter to EB games and I encourage everyone to do the same. We shouldn't be forced to buy games that we don't want because they are worried about stock. Microsoft gave out a release price and they should follow it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would just like to know why EBgames is trying to
give the consumers the shaft on the upcoming release
of xbox360. I personally have no alternative but to
take my business elsewhere because you give no option
to buy the system. I don't want to be forced to buy
games with a new release system and at a $700 price
tag. The system with the $600 price tag is a load of
crap and I don't see many people buying it. I bought
the PS2 and preordered it with a memory card and 2
games and it came down to about $450. I was expecting
to spend about the same by getting the system for $399
plus the Madden game for another $60. Now to get the
release game that I only want I'd have to pay 760 plus
shipping. I've been a consumer of yours since the
company name was Games and Gadgets back in the 80s. I
spend several hundreds of dollars in video game
entertainment at your store each year and I would like
a good reason why I should continue to shop with you.
Please change these tactics. I am awaiting a serious
response. Most people got the PS2 system on release
date or a few months later. If Xbox 360 is to be
successful, consumers shouldn't have to take the hit
of buying 4 games that we don't want. Again, please
give me a serious response because I will find other
markets to take my gaming business.

Thank you,
YES...I'm just sure EBGAMES cares what you have to say...I mean ebgames/gamestop (they are one in the same now if you didn't know)...Price fixing it's what's for dinner.

Honestly...this has nothing to do with Microsoft, but I still feel that MS is pissing away any momentum they might have had with the original xbox...the ps3 will probably be better for about 400...I suggest you buy that (blasphemy!?!).

I only say that because MICROSOFT doesn't respect the base they built with the XBOX. They think they can pull this crap...they are wrong.

Oh, another thing to bitch about (yes, I realize that most of us are just bitching...but even so, I will most likely end up with a 360 myself):

IMHO, bundling the system with specific games may be a mistake for the retailers. I understand their need for profit, yadda yadda. But MS has changed the rules around on us. What we conceive of "launch" is waiting in line at 3 am in the morning so that we can walk out the door with our brand new console and games.

MS has defined "Launch" as being several weeks AROUND the console's launch date. Their so-called "launch" titles have release dates up to 3 weeks AFTER the console's sale date. So, I'm just imagining the look on people's faces when they go to pick up their 360 "bundle" only to find that Project Gotham Racing 3 won't be available until Nov. 28th (I don't know actual release dates, but I'm just making up an example). But by MS' definition, that still makes it a "launch title."

Or what happens to everyone who pre-orders this bundle, opens their package on Nov. 14th to find...just a console and a invoice explaining that the 4 titles included in their bundle won't ship until Nov. 21st...sorry. Or, even worse...their friends who didn't pre-order a bundle goes to the store on 11/14, picks up the console and a game, but he who pre-ordered has to wait until 11/28 because all of the titles in his bundle haven't been released, so they've held back his order until all the items are available.

Just some more fuel for the fire. :)

These bundle deal sucks a$$... I never want to be force to get these bundle.... w/ games I don't want...

I only want the value system, HD VGA cables, Perfect dark & DOA 4... dats it..
Could you buy the $700 bundle and then just return everything except the system?
You could probably trade stuff in, but I would guess everything would show up as one line item on a receipt/packing slip. So in that case, there would be nothing specific to return. But again, just put your $50 down on the system in store and be done with it.

I emailed them about it last night, basicly just got the "OMG TEH LIMETD QUNATIEZ" line.

They told me to be damn lucky they didn't add a toaster, a Toyota, and a PS2 to the required bundle.

B&M for me, and not any store that forces me to buy extra than what I intend on buying right then. $400 + a game is already pushing it.

Well, EB Games came out with a nice crappy reponse to my letter this morning. Notice that they don't say anything about selling individual systems, just look for more bundles!

For the original Xbox launch, the brick and mortar EB's also required you to buy a bundle. I remember I had to buy the system, 3 games of my choice, and an accessory. Maybe this was just a regional thing, since nobody but me seems to remember them requiring you to buy an Xbox bundle at launch back then, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made you buy a bundle in-store as well.

Dealing with EBGames at a system launch is usually a pain in the ass. The problem with them doing bundles now is that while the Xbox ones were about $500 (which was still a lot), $700 is absurd.

The games they include look like teh suck too. DOA 4 will be good, but 2 games were developed by Rare -- the same company with Grabbed by the Ghoulies and the Conker remake as their flagship titles...
Could you buy the $700 bundle and then just return everything except the system?
No. It specifically states so in the fine print:

"Bundle contents, if defective, may be exchanged only for same item subject to our return policy."
They need to offer bundles where the buyer is allowed to pick the games/accessories that they want... :(
But then you might pick all the $59.99 3rd party games instead of the $49.99 1st party games. And that wouldn't make them happy.

THis isnt even a deal...all this crap would cost the same...maybe even less, if you bought it seperately

Anyone taking bets on the likelihood that the two Rare games (Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo) actually both release at launch? That company can't release more than one game a year, let alone two in the same month.

Worst.Deal.Ever.

I actually was thinking of getting a 360 for Christmas, but after seeing this crap, I am totally turned off.

Like EB is your only option to buy one?......uhm ok...

(IMO) Microsoft is rushing this whole Xbox 360! I will give it a year, then decide! To much fun right now with my Modded Xbox!

Youll be able to pick the games for this bundle deal...they did the same thing on the Eb site for XBOX and PSP...then the stores followed suit soon after except you could pick the game titles you wanted
Like EB is your only option to buy one?......uhm ok...
HA! Good luck finding it at Wal-Mart. I recall the PS2 launch day. I had to wait in line until midnight and they still didn't get anymore until after Christmas. Ya, I guess if enough are released, I may still get one, but I'm not expecting to find any in a retail store.

This is the most expensive console for a munfacturer ever. I don't expect Microsoft to make an abundance.

I guess I could pre-order this and ebay the crap that I don't want. I may even try to pre-order a couple (maybe under a friend) and try to make a small enough profit on one system to cut my costs for the 2nd. When the Ps2 came out, I waited in line and got 2 of them. I sold one for $650 on ebay and kept one. So it paid for itself. However, this system is so expensive, I don't know if it will work or not

I guess waiting at midnight at Walmart, Target, Best Buy is the only option now. Actual stores(ebgames, gamestop) have been sold out for months for preorders and I don't want to buy this gay overpriced bundle.

Thing is...what if all stores are sold out of the $400 system...I don't want to be stuck with the lame $300 one.

I guess I better get my tent ready.

See, that blows my mind... if you find your stock sold out based on paid preorders 3 months prior to something coming in stock, there must be something you can do. Oh, order more! Its not as if you're gonna then find yourself with a ton of 360s collecting dust for a few months.

Too expensive for me! Will wait for the $199 drop. I am satisfied right now w/my Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and DS. :)
