Okay. So I sent customer support an email to make sure they check my 360's disc drive as well and they emailed me back. He was nice, but he talks to me like I am an idiot and then he had this one very funny sentence that I think everyone will love.
I understand that you are very concerned as the console is sent in for repairs due to a red ring problem and the console also seems to have a disc read problem as well.
I do not have access to the specific evaluation report on your console. However, I can tell you that the specific issue that you reported will be rectified. This could mean that component parts were cleaned, repaired, or replaced. Also, in addition to the specific issue that you reported, we will also take the opportunity to evaluate the console overall. If we caught anything that needed cleaning or repairing, we took care of that as well. You should not have any more problems. If you do, please contact us immediately.
There is not a single root cause of problems or systemic issues with Xbox 360 consoles. The nature of the console itself is very complex, because it is a consumer electronic product that contains more than 1,700 different components and 500 million transistors.
There are obviously many things that can malfunction at any given time - but majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out.
So that is pretty funny. Every person I know that owns a 360 has had problems and there are millions of others who I do not know who have also had problems. I hope he means very few people by majority!
