Xbox 360 Repair

I just sent my 360 off for repair several days ago and was wondering something. My 360 has had disc read error problems for a good 6 months or so, and it has really been a nuisance. Recently, I finally got my 2nd RROD and went online to send it in. I explained that I had disc read errors and the three red lights. I sent it in as RROD error so that it would be free, but I was wondering, will they actually check my disc drive too? I don't want them to send it back to me and still have the drive problem because that would be stupid. The only good fact is that I get a free month warranty and could send it back again, but that would take another 2 weeks.

My friend wrote a note explaining anything drastically wrong with it when he sent it in for the RRoD. When it came back, the problems weren't fixed.

It is a mystery.

My RROD'd 360 also had a problem with a sticky disc tray. You'd have to hit open/close at least 3 times before it'd actually eject all the way.

I put a note on it when I sent it in for the RROD and they fixed it. YMMV, I guess but it can't hurt to try.

Most of the time you won't get your same 360 back , ive sent mine in 6 times now . . . actually close to 10 but i have 2 consoles hooked up here at the house. Check the serial number , ive only gotten the same one back once , i called & they told me that if the problem can be fixed quickly then they fix it & send it back to you. Most of the time you will get a refurbished one back. How you can tell its a refurbished one look at the back , if its new it will say "manufactures date" , if you have a refurbished one it will say "service date". Now if you get your same console back it should have the same serial number but it will say "service date". It doesnt bother me sending my console in , i can get other shit done around the house , & it usually takes a lil less than a week to get working console back!!! Hope this clears up some confusion

Okay. So I sent customer support an email to make sure they check my 360's disc drive as well and they emailed me back. He was nice, but he talks to me like I am an idiot and then he had this one very funny sentence that I think everyone will love.

I understand that you are very concerned as the console is sent in for repairs due to a red ring problem and the console also seems to have a disc read problem as well.

I do not have access to the specific evaluation report on your console. However, I can tell you that the specific issue that you reported will be rectified. This could mean that component parts were cleaned, repaired, or replaced. Also, in addition to the specific issue that you reported, we will also take the opportunity to evaluate the console overall. If we caught anything that needed cleaning or repairing, we took care of that as well. You should not have any more problems. If you do, please contact us immediately.

There is not a single root cause of problems or systemic issues with Xbox 360 consoles. The nature of the console itself is very complex, because it is a consumer electronic product that contains more than 1,700 different components and 500 million transistors.

There are obviously many things that can malfunction at any given time - but majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out.

So that is pretty funny. Every person I know that owns a 360 has had problems and there are millions of others who I do not know who have also had problems. I hope he means very few people by majority!
