Hey guys, i just picked up my xbox 360 250gb S console. I have been trying it out and will give a few impressions, including how hot this thing gets. First off, the wireless adapter works great, very easy to find my network. The console itself is beautiful, loving the buttons where they are touch sensitive. I cannot hear the console when on dashboard, but i can while playing games and the disc is spinning (still not nearly as loud as old models). There is one big issue that i AM having with this however: The thing is whisper silent, but it is also Flaming Hot. Look at the picture. See the big vent on the side? That's where all the heat is at. It's not on the back like the previous console, it doesn't seem like the fan is pushing out the heat very well. This could just be me, but i had someone else touch it to verify that they indeed thought it was outrageously HOT. Let this be a warning to buyers! .. Also i do understand this may not be a problem at all. My Wii does get hot with wii connect 24 (But not as hot as the 360..). My Mac also get's rather hot (still not as hot as the 360..). I'm just throwing this out there.

Fix: Make your 360 sit horizontally. It will help the 360 ventilate better, and won't get nearly as hot!
For people that have transferred their old hard drive data to the new hard drive...

It seems the transfer software is included on the slim's hard drive. Can you use the same transfer cable that Microsoft sent out free back in the day? I have one that I got in 2007 to go from 20 gig's to 120 gigs. When the 250 gig drives came out I remember people saying you needed a NEW transfer kit.

I'm assuming they just needed the "new" software and the cable was the same. So therefore my old cable should work in this situation. Right? Can anyone confirm? There seems to be a lot of confusion in other forums. No straight answers.
My free cable from back then worked just fine. Actually you can hook it up and just browse and copy back to the old drive if you want. Once it did the transfer to the 250 I then copied all the arcade games back to the 120gb before doing a DRM transfer and now I can play those arcade games on my old box with out the gamertag they were purchased under on it.

Anyone else placing new orders via Amazon?. It now states as follows:

"Estimated delivery date for this item: July 6, 2010 - July 30, 2010'

:applause::bomb:

I ordered it on Amazon yesterday when it said in stock on June 22nd. My order still shows that its estimated to arrive on June 25th with free two day shipping via Amazon Prime. Do you guys think that date is going to change?

I placed a order on the 19th on Amazon as well. I emailed them to see what's up. My delivery estimate is June 23rd.

Just received the email back from them and here's what they said..

"I can confirm that we still expect to ship your order by June 22. It should be delivered to you by June 23.

We'll send you an e-mail when your order is shipped. If you haven't received a shipment confirmation by June 23 please contact us again at:

I ordered mine on THursday, with one-day shipping from Amazon, and it still hasn't shipped. It has a delivery date of June 22nd, but I have a feeling I won't be getting it. Amazon screwed me over, I would have tried at Target today if I had known this shit was going to happen.

Does your status show shipping soon? If it does then you should be getting it by the delivery date -- there's usually a long delay with shipment tracking info showing up (has been this way for a couple weeks for the few orders I've placed)

Placed an order for something else for a friend on Thurs morning (June 10) with 1-day s/h -- it went into shipping soon status 10-15 mins after placing the order and stayed that way the rest of the day. Finally got a shipment email around 1am-2am and the FedEx tracking showed that the shipment had alrdy left Amazon around 3pm on Thurs and it was on schedule to be delivered on Fri

I've had a bit of time with the new Xbox, and it is much, much quieter than the old one. It is nigh silent for Netflix watching. I haven't played many games yet, but it is still much quieter; which is what I was going for.

I have to say I'm disappointed with the content transfer method using www.xbox.com/drm. I followed their instructions to the letter, and it still seems like the content is confused.. I had to re-download themes to get them to work when I'm not on Xbox live, which makes me worry that the 500 items associated with my account may have to be manually re-sycned.. i really hope not.

All my content says it is tied to the ID of the new box, but when I try to queue things up it shows as 'this is tied to another Xbox'.. no idea what that is all about. Also, some of the arcade games that came packaged with the new xbox are now showing as demos on the xbox.. which is annoying. I think something went wrong during the license transfer process.
The games packaged on the X360 were demos: Peggle and Kingdom For Kieflings...Hexic HD was the only full XBLA game included.
Oh good! ... in the sense that there was no problem. Sucks in the sense that they tossed crap I'll need to delete onto the xbox.

Thanks for the info, Linkin.

My New Xbox 360 had shipped from Amazon Monday afternoon w/ one day shipping, but now, around an hour ago, there was a "Shipping Exception" in Philadelphia on its way from Delaware to here in Minnesota, and now "Shipment is Delayed".

If I don't have my system tomorrow, when I get home from work I will raising more hell than I did with Newegg when they fucked up my Halo 3: ODST order and gave me a $75 credit and free overnight shipping on ODST. I'm so angry right now...I've never had such a hard time just trying to fucking buy something, it's been an ordeal for over a week now.

Somebody better call the WHAAAAAAAAAmbulance.

The shipping company screwed up. Deal with it.

How is this Amazon's fault?

It's Amazon's fault for using FedEx, the worst shipping company possible. FedEx ain't going to do anything to resolve this, and it sure as hell isn't my fault, so Amazon is who answers for this.

Calm down, it's just a stupid game console. Waiting another day or two isn't going to kill you.

The blame lies with FedEx, not Amazon. Sure, you can complain to Amazon and they will probably compensate you. But ultimately FedEx screwed up.

If he emails Amazon upset, they will credit him. I see nothing wrong with that. amazon can deal with Fed Ex however they choose on the back end.

Ordeal? Care to elaborate? I ordered the new Xbox from Amazon last Tuesday, it was in stock on Sunday, shipped Monday, and should be here today. Was your experience different?

Are you serious? What kind of logic is that? "I'll cry like a bitch to Amazon cause FedEx won't listen to me even though it's fedex's fault."

You know Amazon is gonna give this baby a $25 GC or something to get him off the phone but I hope Amazon closes his account.

Yeah, so do I. Shipment is still in Philadelphia by the way.

I called FedEx and they said it was a weather delay. What kind of weather on the second day of summer stops a truck from driving? Pathetic. I'm about to go work for eight hours, but I'd love to see the look on my manager's faces if I said I couldn't make it to work cause of the weather any time of the year, and especially in June.

damn you're just brilliant.
planes are delayed by thunderstorms (ie Indianapolis).
that is why your package was delayed.
overnight by truck... yeah right...

I just went and looked at what kind of extreme weather Philadelphia experienced last night/this morning.

Monday Night: Few Clouds & Warm

Lows: 63 to 70 degrees from suburb to city

Winds: NW / N 5-10 mph

Wow, I know that'd stop me from going to work too, especially if I got paid even if I do my job or not.

dude, are you unable to read? The extreme weather could be in a FedEx hub that's delaying their flights. Not where it's stuck.

actually, why am i even trying to explain anything to this guy. It's clear he just wants to cry about it.

I've been raising hell with them already. I ordered mine right after it showed up on Amazon.com and they haven't even shipped mine yet. I sent one heck of an email when I saw it in stock and mine never shipped. I remember three years ago when I first order my Elite and they skipped over me for 10 days. I got a $10 GC for complaining, but I was so pissed off.

But the whole already being shipped thing is really out of their hands, but I still don't blame you for being annoyed. I would for sure try and get something out of it if you don't have it by the time you were supposed to.
Hey guys anyone know if the new Xbox Elite slim comes with a headset?
Yeah, I believe I saw that it comes with a wired headset.

I was looking at this too since I'm wondering how it identifies a console as the "primary" console and I found the info on XBOX.com support:
Content will automatically download to the first console you sign into after completing a purchase on the web.
Hope that helps you out.

I don't know if you've ever driven a truck the size of the FedEx vehicles, but in the type of severe weather that has passed over us recently it's extremely unsafe to operate them in those conditions. You can literally feel the winds pushing the truck, let alone having rain obscure vision, and wet roads providing less traction. I have no experience with freight size vehicles, or any overnight air deliveries they might make, but I would assume the larger the vehicle, the more it's affected by this type of weather. I'm not saying you shouldn't complain, as it sucks if you don't get what you paid for, but there's no reason to be extremely hostile either. Also, I believe I've seen somewhere when ordering on Amazon a disclaimer when it comes to them not being able to control weather related delays. Therefore you might be shit outta luck. I'd link the reference, but too lazy to go and find it =)

I feel like this was touched on earlier in the thread. Here is my question. Is my old 120gb accessible without transferring? I forgot to delete my game installs, and would like to delete them before transfer because 1)It would be so damn slow to transfer them all and 2) I think I need to reinstall them anyway, cuz game installs are tied to console for some dumb reason. I sold my 360 today, so yes, i can't just plug it back in my old system and delete them.

Thanks for any input!
Yep, a black one.
That's racialist!

By the way, it's so funny - it's the same in every thread with someone wanting something overnight. FedEx is the worst! UPS is the worst! DHL is the worst! It's the same thing every time. No shipping company is perfect. I've had my issues with ALL of them.

Hey. I'm planning on purchasing the new slim model xbox 360 and I have a question...I heard that the there are some over heating issues that are still going on with the xbox...Actually that's how my old xbox broke...I was wondering if this would help (http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-ZM-NC2...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1277243303&sr=8-1) I have it for my 18.4" laptop that used to over heat alot. Ever since I got the cooler, it doesn't over heat or give me any more trouble...I was wondering if anybody tried this product for their xbox? Will it work? It didn't install any drivers for the computer so I would assume the xbox would have no problem running this...Let me know

There are no vents on the bottom of the console and that would make it sit on a slant which would no be good for discs.

I've never had problems with anyone but FedEx, it's them every single time. I still don't have my Xbox 360 Slim and I doubt I'll ever get it from the lazy corrupt fuckers at FedEx. I e-mailed Amazon and already got a refund since no one has any idea where my god damn console is that I paid $300+ for.

I can guarantee you that if my payment had been delayed as much of their shipment that they'd be having a cow, but of course the rules are different for the corporations, they think they can get away with anything and everything.

Aquired from GS. Using a USB drive to port the data was rather easy, except for the already installed games. Rather than mess with setting up extra ethernet cables.

Having the WiFi build in seems nice, we'll see during the first game.
