• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I want to like this, I have hope. But with everything The Coalition has done to up Gears 5, I have extremely little faith. Even with Operation 3 their newest update, can't bring me back. Damage has been done.

Ended up skipping on stranger things even though I've had my eye on it. Would kick myself if another game in the backlog went on gamepass and with it on PC gamepass I feel like it has a high chance.

Picked up arise and gang beasts for higher than I'd normally pay but the 4k points made it better.

Well, Control finished downloading and I began playing it on my Xbox One X, and I believe I have hit a bug. As I wander around, a glowing x will appear to draw my attention to something I can interact with. The problem is, even though I get as close to the object with the x as I can, pressing the X button on the controller has no effect.

Nice to see it is no longer available to tempt me. I too had this one on my mind. I started playing 1.5 on PS3 a few months ago but did not get far. I saw PS4 has a package with all three so if a similar deal comes to XB1 I will likely grab them. I want to give them an honest go but realistically I into other games at the moment and looking at least 4-6 weeks out to playing them. Just no urgency right now and plenty of backlog.

I hate how they cheap out on shipping these things in bubble mailers rather than boxes when they're $80 items.

Amazon combined my copy with a chair base in one box... I just knew my copy was going to be crushed being in a huge box with a 10lb box and no padding.
There was bubble wrap inside! I don’t think I’ve seen bubble wrap in months.

- Bulletstorm (finished it on 360 had decent fun with it and having a 4k tv and hearing people talk about it sold it for me)
- Onrush (Again price was right and missed out when it was on gamepass)
- Dragon Age Deluxe and Mass Effect Deluxe bundle. (Yeah it's on Access but it's the deluxe with dlc and I am not seeing a lot of value out of access anymore...)
- Phoenix Wright trilogy (I played the first one on DS and had a lot of fun - looking forward to get achievements)
- Life is strange beyond the storm (it was my filler to get over the threshold of $55CAD)

Most electronics are made and shipped out of China. That’s why you see some ppl worrying about hyper inflation if manufacturing lines are shutdown for too long. I was glad I could get a copy of Animal Crossing and I don’t mind buying my Xbox games digitally so I think I’m good until things get moving again as far as gaming.

Lots of gaming stuff is slowly creeping up in price. New stock will slowly get depleted until manufacturing can ramp back up to normal. Used stock is being depleted since I don't think anywhere is taking trades right now. Certain older stuff is going up on average too. Wiis have started to go up in price as well as popular family games like Wii Sports. Probably similar to the demand for Ring Fit Adventure that's being compounded by the lack of available Switches.

Elite Controllers are a niche product due to their high price, so I don't think most individual stores kept a very many in stock normally, and I'd assume that extends to the warehouses.

All of this is amplified even more since almost everyone in every part of the world is stuck inside. Video games are the most obvious thing to get into that requires at least some external hardware to be acquired if you don't already have, compared to watching and listening, or reading, as far as entertainment goes.

I've been interested in the new terminator game but it seems they didn't make too many physical copies. It's nearly full price or more on ebay and I don't want to pay or wait for physical. Saw that it was on gamefly so figured I'd use a free trial to play it and maybe check out a second game. It didn't tell me until I had the trial that there's extremely low stock. Wonder if I'll get it delivered.

Some people don't like some of the newer story stuff, but the multiplayer is what has most players up in arms. Really since Gears 3 the games have made fairly polarizing choices with design decisions, and 4 and 5 have upset people with how they've supported the games. 5 has the F2P store design of modern games like Fortnite, but filled with mostly bad content and actual gameplay releasing being super spaced out.

Story wise you're fine. The campaigns of Gears have pretty much always been good, with complaints generally boiling down to either not innovating much or a bit too much emphasis on whatever new gimmick was introduced. You probably want to start with Gears 1 (the enhanced X1 remaster) and play in release order. If you're really impatient you can start with 4 as it's after a big time skip and focuses primarily on new characters, though there are still plenty of references and characters to the original trilogy (and to a lesser degree the black sheep that is Judgment).

If you like third-person shooters, Gears is pretty much king of the mountain in the genre.

yeah i've always hated Gears multiplayer, so to me Gears is a campaign run and horde with friends. Still fun to me.

Multiplayer.

I haven't touched Campaign, it's probably decent like it was in Gears 4, I just have no interest in whatever TC does with it. Horde and Escape are decent from the time I've dabbled with them. I am not a fan of the VS multiplayer at all and that's my bread and butter with the series. They took auto aim/aim assist way too far and entire game is just poorly designed with atrocious updates that compound the problems. After getting no enjoyment from the game in months, I realized that I was fighting Terminator characters, Halo characters and real world e-sport skins with Earth nation flags in a game that takes places on a fictional world with it's own history and concluded that I don't enjoy or repsect this series anymore.

The campaign in Gears was very off-putting. Making 2/3 of the game open world made me feel like I was missing out on so much of the story if I didnt scour every nook & cranny of the game world. Felt like a cheap way to extend the game and just didnt feel like Gears. Plus, the major part of the story that happened just before the end. I did NOT like that. Turning Gears into an rpg lite game, wtf.

Multiplayer, some of their decisions with Horde were okay imo. I've never been a fan of Horde. Escape is a cool addition. And as others have stated, the versus multiplayer part they've had very questionable design choices. Some of the ranking systems the coalition have in place is highly questionable, very imbalanced.

Now the multiplayer progression system/earning cosmetics, is so ed it isn't funny. It has gone "fortnite" with all the emotes, but unlocking stuff is just not fulfilling. The character/weapon skins you earn by grinding dozens of hours are blah and if you want decent to cool looking skins, pony up the cash. I would rather have the random lootboxes in Gears 4. That's how bad Gears 5 is. I had so many "cool" skins in G4 from just playing normally, but G5 just jumps the microtransaction pillaging to the 11th degree. I really wonder which new studio that had nothing to do with the original franchises(Gears & Halo) have handled it worse. It's that bad IMO

In contrast, I haven't played multiplayer much at all beyond horde in any of the games. But Gears 5 campaign is by far my favorite from the franchise. There are some big open levels with lots of optional hidden areas to explore. It's a good blend of action and exploration, but gives you the freedom to explore little or as much as you'd like. Even better if you do 2-3 player co-op.

Used my free month of GWG last night to pick up Fable and was able to get Toybox Turbos this morning. Upgraded to Castle Crashers Remastered for $3 too.

I am not seeing a lot that interest me on the sale right now, what am I missing?

I saw a bit of chatter about TJ&E; I love 90s stuff but I am not familiar with the series other than the name. Is it worth it if I have no nostalgia for it?

I honestly love it this way. Not a single game in there I own and a few that are day one releases. Been testing Levelhead on iOS and probably shouldn’t be saying this, but the controls aren’t great on mobile so looking forward to playing it on console.

I've had my eye on Gato Roboto for awhile and almost bought it on Switch. It's a tribute to Game Boy games and has a Metroid II vibe, only you are a cat in a robot suit. Apparently it's pretty short but quite charming, aka the perfect game for Game Pass.

The first PSO2 Game Pass Ultimate pack expires tomorrow on the 16th. There are rumors that we might get a similar one on the 17th with a lot of good stuff. That's hopefully true, the second month's one, that is valid until August for some reason, is disappointing.
