• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I was goign to preorder Tony Hawk, but I have GCU, so I rather buy it physical. I almost have like no need for bing reward money.

If you are looking for indies, look no further than Cuphead. The glory of classic cartoons turned into a run-n-gun/boss medley, it does all of them justice.

If you want less light-hearted and more pulling on your emotions, the pair of Ori games are wonderful platformers that tell a great story.

Am I the only one who thinks certain games SUFFER from pushing 60fps? Specifically, story-driven/cinematic games? I think it might be one of the main reasons I found it hard to get into The Last Of Us, because I played the PS4 remastered version and all the in-game cutscenes were smooth as a fighting game. I much prefer 30fps for those games, it looks more like a movie, which it's trying to convince me it is.

I find it very similar to motion-smoothing features on a TV, or the "soap opera effect" as it's otherwise known.

Bing Rewards can be used to extend your Game Pass, so I wouldn't ignore it completely. A few minutes of searches a day can make a difference, and there are specific Game Pass quests that will help you to rack up lots of points in a short amount of time. Hey, free is free!

Anyway, I use the Xbox One tab on PS Prices to show me what's currently on sale. That way, you can get the most out of your Xbox funds.

I'll suffer through a soap opera looking cut scene for 60 fps game play any day. There are very few games (Last of Us being an exception) where cutscenes have a genuine value anyway so the quality of them is not so important as the fact that they exist just to help move the story along and connect the action together (and for pacing).

Staying on topic, Sea of Thieves got its monthly free update. Except this one is more Quality of Life themed after the 2 year content update. Some good fixes in there and also added in daily, weekly and time limited challenges to acquire gold, doubloons and ancient coins. There is also a sales page in the pirate emporium, so I'll post those discounts here when I have a chance to sign online. Plus there is a free emote too

Seeing Star Wars: Battlefront II being released alongside COD: WWII as the Playstation 4 freebies next month, solidified my decision not to digitally purchase either of em. I can be patient and wait til they become GWG freebies on X1. Heck I can wait til they go GWG on the XSX

It sucks man. Eventually video games will turn into playable movies completely. A decent amount of gamers are tech spergs who shout "GIVE ME THE GRAPHICS", and those are the people who are heard louder than others.

This is the analogy I was going for. Posting mean, rude comments doesnt help anyone. Its selfish. They dont realize that competition(Microsoft) will make Sony and Nintendo step up their game to match the other console makers. Looting and vandalizing is self serving, stealing clothing and crap from Target. Protesting and demanding justice by pressure is changing things.

That's awesome news about the even more upgraded features for BC on Series X. I moved over to Windows 10 versions of Forza Horizon 3 and 4 to finish off their achievements and have been running them at 120 fps and it's hard to go back to the console versions.

Speaking of Windows 10, downloaded the Phantasy Star 2 Online client and finally went to go start it and oh yeah I forgot how MMO work when it comes to this stuff, now it says I got to wait a couple more hours as it downloads something else... shaking my fist.

I totally agree with this statement, I live not even 10 blocks from where the riots started so those are my local Target/Cub/Autozone that were vandalized last night and know some of the local bussiness owners from some other nearby ones, mostly from minorities (Mexican and Somali) and mostly victims of both sides of the protesting parties at some point or another. It is very disturbing to see how it all went down, hoping everything calms down soon and it doesnt start tonight again, not fun being on edge.

Did you check the settings? There are quite a few options. I just finished the game last night in 4K/30fps on PS4Pro.

Great, now I gotta figure out which games I want to experience first hand with the fresh hotness and not bleach my eyes with One X power.

I did a 100% play through of Red Dead Redemption 1 when it went to 4K on the One X. I'm doubtful it's going to happen, but it's not a 0% chance I'm not going to do that again with HDR.

Of course we understand why it's occurring. It's wrong for someone to take the law into their own hands when a family member is killed, etc. So why can't we expect that from people here? Just because we want people to follow the law doesn't mean we can't sympathize, understand, and support them.

I don't agree. I've yet to play a game that I felt was being negatively affected by having a higher framerate, as long as it's stable. I'm much more sensitive to other effects if they're poorly implemented, like motion blur or some of the post processing effects out there.

I get the point you're making on a cinematic feeling, but if a studio really cares about this they can choose to lock framerates during cutscenes. I haven't really heard of this phenomenon in western games beyond pre-rendered cinematics sometimes being stuck at 30, but Ark System Works did it with Dragon Ball FighterZ's super attacks. It goes from 60 FPS gameplay to 24 FPS for animation to emulate the anime.

Really if anyone was going to put too much of a focus on a cinematic feel it'd be Naughty Dog, so you might be out of luck there. Hopefully way more games will start to give an option between a performance or graphics option on next gen so we both can get our preference, though it's hard to know if it'd lock all the way down to to 30.
