• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Yakuza 3 was a PlayStation 3 game. Also, I am playing Kiwami 2, how did you get through the game without being sucked into the Hostess club side missions? I won't rest until my Hostess club is the greatest one in all of Japan.

I Maxed out nearly all my hostess, but a handful of bronze level ones. I Think I understood more about the unknown world of "sports" by leveling up and taking my hostess' on dates and getting their stats up than I ever have trying to understand a single game of footing ball.

My thing with Yakuza games, why does everyone have a 6 pack? from 6 year olds to 50 year olds? Hell of a diet in those games

What about the duration of your current subscriptions when you join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the first time? Are those still added and converted at a 1:1 ratio?

I winced at the Tekken and Soulcalibur prices. Both games are $5 for PC on the trading forums here, and both games are supported on Geforce Now, so you can play them on a potato PC.

But Tekken is on Game Pass too, so you'll be able to rack up 20 wins in a row if you're an experienced fighting game player.

Yeah I need some advice here. Persona 4 is a huge favorite of mine. I bought the big Premium Edition of Persona 5, but only played a couple hours before it fell by the wayside. No special reason, I didn't dislike it, I just never got a momentum going. Anyway, here I am now, sort of wanting to go back to it, but feeling like why bother when I should just restart with the Royal version instead. So does Royal make the original version obsolete, or should I stick with that I have?

Hopefully we will get a good look at some multiplatform games and not just 1st party games and 3rd party that make you wonder why they aren't multiplatform. I haven't bought a Playstation home console since the PS2, I doubt that trend will change with the coming generation.

Won't gamers take into account the console will be at its most expensive at launch?

People find real value in the investment that they make in gaming. You can buy a console, buy some games, and it can literally provide your family with hundreds of hours of entertainment. Even when we went back and looked at 2008-09, in that recession, to see what the impact was on gaming - gaming did OK. It was durable.

We want to make sure we're providing the right value to customers. Price is going to be important. But our strategy is centered around the player, not the device.

If this is not the year when a family wants to make a decision to buy a new Xbox, that's OK. Our strategy does not revolve around how many Xboxes I sell this year. We're focused on delivering services through Xbox Game Pass, which allows people to build their library for a monthly fee. Backward compatibility means that the console that they have will play thousands and thousands of games. Smart delivery means when they move to the next generation, the games will move with them.

I had some gift card money and bought Crash and Spyro for $19.99 each, which comes to $39.98, and us apparently still too low to satisfy the $40 threshold for the rewards bonus. Am annoyed.

I'd like to spend $300 or less. It seems its either ~$200 or ~$400+ for the much nicer ones. I don't have a proper gaming PC right now, if I run Steam its on an ultrabook without a dedicated GPU. This would mainly be for work and also the spare X1S. I don't do much gaming in my work space, but if my girlfriend wants to use the big TV, I use the smaller setup to play online sometimes. If I had a nice gaming PC I'd probably be more open to dropping ~$500 on a monitor.

Nice, looks like a good one. Just keep in mind that the sharpness might need some tinkering at that size. X1S can do 120Hz/FPS I believe, though I think most games cap themselves at 60. It's a good investment in case you're getting a PC with discrete GPU or a Series X in the future.

That’s how I thought they were approaching this generation and it’s really refreshing. It’s incredibly consumer friendly. I do agree with the strategy of focusing on services for the Xbox brand. I hope they continue with this approach.

Personally I found Don Mattick to be pretty transparent. People just over reacted. Always online is always where we were headed. Does anyone know a single person that DOES NOT have internet these days? Want to play multiplayer, games with gold or play those juicy gamepass games? Then guess what... you need to be connected to the internet. Also instead of just having a home console and being able to share your games and xbox sub with another person, iirc MS original plan was to allow up to 10 friends access to your game library. Imagine your friends being able to have access to your entire game library and vice versa from the comfort of your own home? That's massively and infinitely better than Sony Playstation's dinky commercial about being to share your game disc with one friend. Xbox and gamers in general just shot themselves in the foot by panicking.

I agree with you that the messaging is much better this time around and not because Phil Spencer is some kind of genius. Marketing 101, people prefer to buy from instead of being sold something. You entice them with value propositions like gamepass, etc...

I know I'm a little late to the conversation on this but in regards to the whole 'no more codes' with new systems thing, I'm happy for this decision. I have only ever sold one pack-in code (Jedi: Fallen Order) as I had already bought it on the Microsoft store prior to my X1X dying a week post-launch. I also know that if I really wanted to go down that lane, I would've had a case for a refund on the copy I purchased from the Microsoft store had I've redeemed that code creating a duplicate entitlement on my account. Only chose not to go this route because I knew the game was hot and would sell quickly with little to no loss removing any sort of 'refund blemish' on my XBL account.

I know I'm an outlier but I'm all digital with my Xbox collection (almost 400 titles to date) and in this time, anything that helps make the process more streamlined is a plus. If I understand the new process correctly, you don't have to claim the digital entitlement when you first set up the system. This means to me that I could have a friend come over, sign in and attach that game to their account without it becoming a total loss should I already have the pack-in game. 

With an already stupid collection of physical media across Nintendo and Sony, I've been more than pleased with the digital future Microsoft is paving. When my X1X died, everything on my external HDD just worked after signing in on the new system, that blew my mind and helped sell me on the viability of staying all digital.

If I understand the new process correctly, you don't have to claim the digital entitlement when you first set up the system. This means to me that I could have a friend come over, sign in and attach that game to their account without it becoming a total loss should I already have the pack-in game.

My reading of the FAQ is that if you don't claim it right away, you can claim it later with any account. Since I only game share with my brother and a close friend, this will just save typing in codes.

So now in order to sell or gift someone the Cyberpunk code or whatever digital game it is, you'll have to have them go to your place or you go to theirs and they will have to sign into their profile on your brand new Xbox One first and then download the game and then sign out of their profile on yours and sign-in to their profile on their Xbox One and they will have the game. That is a huge hassle.

The idea is to elimate grey market reselling and also they can easily change the game bundles when sales are slow without shipping new discs or new skus. Rather they just send a repackaging sticker showing new games. It's a massive amount of savings packaging wise for Microsoft considering they don't have to make countless bundles anymore. Of course this is also anti consumer and also further pushes the digital landscape.

I don't really care for it but with the amount of bundles they had last gen the savings is going to help Microsoft. I'd imagine Sony does the same.

Next gen should only see two skus with select bundled games outside of limited edition consoles like the cyberpunk one. Less confusing and more straight forward.

Is Lichdom Battle Mage any good? I heard that it had tons of problems when it first released, but has it been patched at all since then? A first person shooter where you play a powerful wizard sounds kind of fun.

That sounds pretty interesting. How did you even hear about this documentary? Is the guy a famous comedian or something?

It randomly popped up a few days after my wife and I watched a food documentary. I also watch a lot of anime, so I’m sure the amazon what to watch next algorithmic just combined japan and food. The guy in the video isn’t famous but works in tv/movies as an editor and he and a friend came up with the idea and ran with it. It’s very funny and a little educational.

Ya, you HAVE to have them personally come to your physical home to log into their digital profile to claim a digital item. What other method could you possibly use?


Again, if you read the FAQ about it you don't have to claim pack in items immediately and you can claim them later on any account. This does cut out grey markets, but it makes it easier for people like me that game share.
