• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Came back to Control after a hiatus and finished it 100% (until the DLC comes out in a few weeks - insert gripe about timed exclusives here).  Despite a few annoying difficulty spikes, it is a great game.  Never in a million years did I expect to play a game - let alone a AAA one - that feels like it was inspired by the wonderful miniseries The Lost Room.

Now I need to finish up AC Odyssey.  That game may just be too huge for a continuous playthrough.

Most 4KTVs only have one HDMI port capable of doing 4K. It's stupid, but it's how they save money. My mom's 4KTV is the same way with her Roku. Unless we plug it into one specific port, the Roku reads as only being able to do 1080p. But, when it's put in the right port, it reads that it can do 4K again.

I would double-check that your TV settings didn't get reset somehow. There are some TVs that stupidly have 4K disabled by default on the HDMI ports (Sony is guilty of this) and you have to manually turn it on. Also what Zantra said above - make sure you are using a 4K-enabled port; some TVs have only a few that support it.

I’m actually using a 4K monitor. Both ports support 4K. Seems like I was able to get it resolved by unchecking all the options and rechecking them. Weird but everything shows correctly now.

Yeah, but with its 16bit style I'd say it's more like the 90's Contras, Alien Wars (92-93?) like our friend mentioned, and that other one, the Sega Genesis one they did after. I actually beat those back then without the mandatory upupdowndownleftrightleftrightBAstart from the 80's ones. They were def easier.

Doesnt Blazing Chrome even have hoverbikes as an early level just like Alien Wars?

Played Supermarket Shriek before it's off gamepass. It's fun but I don't think I currently want to play the same levels over and over. I had fun with what I played but don't think I'd be able to get 3 stars in every level without going crazy. I spent 30 minutes on the first level of zone 5, which is the second to last zone, and never beat it. I'll probably go back and try some of the other levels in zone 5 but if they're similar I'll probably stop playing. I'd rather play something else than spend 30+ minutes memorizing each section of a single level and take hours to beat a zone. The last time I enjoyed  that was playing super meat boy.

It has a decent leader board that's fun if you are into trying to best your friends scores. Something like the effect Geometry Wars had on me. It will be doing exactly that, running a level a 100 times until you nail everything. I loved it, but I can see why people wouldn't.

Not that it’s a great sale at 20% off but have to recommend Book of Demons. Mix of hack and slash and card game but it’s so much better than that sounds. Clever and charming. Great game and worth a buy.

I like it, It's mostly with everything going on right now I want to play a game for fun and while Supermarket Shriek is fun, the constant resetting and the frustration of missing something by inches is overpowering the fun. I probably would have pushed to 100% it if I played it when it first came out since I played the demo at the xbox PAX booth last year and had fun with it.

I didn't think there was a way to do that, at least they never offered it. They've prob received a lot of complaints of people losing their streak through no fault of their own and found a way to fix it. If true, that's good news since I'm at 696 days.

My 2 cents on Digital vs Hardcopy for media
-Movies: almost all exclusively .mkv or .iso files and managed with Kodi on my Xbox 1 X. I got into Kodi back in 2008 have been building a digital Blockbuster. And I'm old enough to remember Napster. Netflix + Hulu + Disney+ is making my library a bit obsolete, but not having to stream when I'm out of town is great.

-Music: all in Google Music, but now that's ending so I'll need to pivot to something else. I've also started to get into vinyl for albums that I love

Nintendo: All carts (Switch + SNES + NES) because of Nostalgia and I don't trust Nintendo's digital rights management.

Xbox: Flipping more of my 360 library digital when they go Backwards Compatible. Xbox One is almost completely digital and super helpful when I visit my in-laws out of town with their more rural internet.

PS4: Only purchased a few games (God of War / Spider-Man) and keep the PS+ membership going constantly. 2tb Hdd inside has helped as well

I think it plays well. It’s pretty much the PC/console version ported straight to iPhone so the text is a little small. But I don’t have any issues with it and loving having it on the go.

Looks pretty nice. I picked this one up from a Woot deal a couple years ago now for about $400. Only 144hz and also 1440p but I pretty much do all my gaming on it now and can't really tell a diff between 1440p on this and my 4k TV. I have switched over to playing the Forza Horizon games on PC because of play anywhere, playing them at 120 hz is a game changer.

I will say the current dashboard is a lot better than I remember it being.  Seems like there's less ads/spam trash forced in your face.

I just can't handle the sluggish startup and basic system interface.  Going to have to do a "cybernetic augmentation" on this unit asap.

The custom sounds are my favorite part of the limited edition xbox's. The taco Bell dong every time I turn on my One X always makes me chuckle.

The dashboard got a pretty solid overhaul again not too long ago. They definitely did away with a lot of the ads and blatant unnecessary crap that the dashboard used to have. It's still not perfect but it's a lot better. The biggest issue I have is the full start up time does take a while. But that's fine. It's pretty rare I do a full system shut down
