• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

As long as they get it to Gamepass, fill it with some microtransactions and pump out some low quality DLCs, its smooth sailing from there.

Without getting into judgement on personal opinions, this is the thinking I'm afraid of. Like wow, Game Pass is a great value, but to me at least it looks like the average quality and craftsmanship is, well, lower than what the standard should be for a next-gen slate of offerings. I mean, does HI really look like a next-gen game? At all? It looks like it could be an Xbox 360 game for crying out loud!

Hope everyone on this board realizes this is a alt account just trying to stir people up. Recently dropped a gem in the psn thread how claiming how Ghost of Tsushima isn't worth $20 since it has zero difference from Sekiro.

As is The Outer Worlds, Gears 5, and Forza Horizon 4 IMO of course.

Those all launched of Game Pass day one.

Out of the games you listed previously, how many of those would you have paid $60 for if Game Pass didn't exist, let alone drop $400-500 for a new console for?

I'm just glad they announced that early instead of after launch. That would have been the ultimate screwjob, like when they said Xbox One couldn't function without Kinect before shortly dropping support for it, leaving early adopters who paid $500 for it SOL.

Without getting into judgement on personal opinions, this is the thinking I'm afraid of. Like wow, Game Pass is a great value, but to me at least it looks like the average quality and craftsmanship is, well, lower than what the standard should be for a next-gen slate of offerings. It's like buying a Nintendo system and complaining about Mario Kart, Smash, etc. sequels not being innovative. Those are the games that sell and people want. If you want more interactive movies and new IPs there is PS4 for that which is not my cup of tea as I'm more old school and care about gameplay more than stories or cinematics. Microsoft tried many new IPs and they always sell like crap so they go with what people want and buy. I don't see why sequels are bad, if they keep making sequels it's what sells. The best games that sell always become sequels even if they were once new.

How is asking someone to pay $500+ to play a few games exclusive to one box a good thing? I LOVE some of the games Sony makes but I still barely play my PS4 because I am more invested as a whole in the Xbox and the overall value it brings right now. Again this is preference. If someone only wants to only own a Playstation system that is great. But to be happy that your next game will only play on a PS5 seems weird to me. So exactly how many games does that end up being in the first two years? Maybe 10? A lot of third party games are going to do the same exact thing as MS and be cross-gen (for good or bad). Basically 100 million Playstation users will now have to decide if that great 1 or 2 exclusives is enough to buy a new system.

Why can't a game be next gen if it plays on an Xbox One X? PC does it ALL the time. Do you think Halo Infinite won't look and play better on the Series X? It will. Same with every other game in the pipeline. What even makes a game "next gen" at this point?

People forget that the versions on the older systems play and look much worse than the new generation. I remember people bragging about not having to buy the Xbox One to play Titanfall because it was also on the 360 but neglected to mention that the 360 version ran like crap compared to the Xbox One version but they didn't know better because they didn't play the new version yet. Many games that have X support also look and play crappy on the original Xbox One in comparison. So yes, you can play the inferior versions if you want but don't pretend they're the same experience.

I think the Xbox One X is powerful enough that it will run most of these games well. It may have longer loading times and no ray tracing. But it’s not going to be the same as the gap between last gen and this gen.

I mean I buy all systems and I feel like the console wars are a pretty ridiculous thing originally created by the manufacturers that no longer care. It's now just propagated by angry fans for whatever reason. At this point Microsoft has blatantly admitted they're not even trying to win a console war that's not their aim anymore. So all this talk is so silly. Most AAA games are multiplatform across so either way you're in good shape as long as you get one of the systems.

At this point what it comes down to is if you want high budget AAA, narratively heavy games you go PS5. That is, more or less the bread and butter of Sony exclusives at this point in time. And that's awesome.

Xbox is perfect if you want to play lots of games of varied genres, types and are less concerned with super high budget AAA. That's not to say MS doesn't have any - but you pretty much know what you're getting. Gears, Halo. Sure with a lot of those new studio purchases next gen might bring some new AAA quality releases but generally speaking you're going to get solid AA titles from well known studios of all different types. The best part is with gamepass they're free on launch day. That's also awesome.

Switch... Well tbh I barely use my switch I don't have much to say about it. You want lower quality on some of the same games but you want to play them on the go? Go for it? Gaming? Portably? That's probably also awesome!

Find what works for you and stick with it. Or enjoy all of them. But no reason to judge someone else for their preferences. Console wars at this point are so outdated. They're all just simplified PC's at this point.

I'm totally on board with Microsoft's approach which is to let us play those initial games on the One X, then upgrade to a Series X in a couple years when the impressive new games that require the new console are actually ready.

Nope, not alone. I hated it for two reasons. First was the cringey early 2000’s stereotyping of gamers being the vibe of the network. Second, TechTV died for G4. I loved TechTV back in the day and was so bummed when they killed it.

Absolutely not. I was frustrated when they absorbed Tech TV, and Attack of the Show with Kevin Periera (five time winner of Most Punchable Face on Television) was a dreadful replacement for The Screen Savers. Also, while I used to like X-Play, some of their reviews were horrendous. Find their review of Baten Kaitos Origins on YouTube. It's like opening the Ark of the Covenant. If you can glean any information about the game from that mess, you're doing better than I am. Amateur YouTube reviewers did a much, much, much better job of reviewing the game than the people on X-Play who were paid by Comcast to cover it.

In conclusion, G4 should stay dead. I piss on its grave.

100% correct.

While I agree Halo Infinite's visuals looked a little lackluster, a lot of people immediately forget this is open world & (likely) couch co-op. Avowed looks better than anything Sony showed. Excited for State of Decay 3 big time. Crossfire X looked amazing, maybe the most visually impressive of the show with some cool combat options.

Add in Warhammer Darktide (Sci-Fi sequel to Vermintide...basically Left 4 Dead in space...count me in day one), Stalker 2 (PC gamers know the original & this alone could be game of the show depending on how the final product comes out, but I'm psyched), and Grounded all look great. Everwild & Tell Me Why & The Gunk also look really fun. Finally, we know a new Fable is coming, which is potentially exciting assuming it is a traditional RPG (perhaps with co-op elements).

There were a handful of "meh" games but overall this was a really good, solid show. I thought it was somewhat better than the PS5 show. Too light on the gameplay but more games I want to play in this show. Avowed, Crossfire X, Darktide, Hellblade 2, Stalker 2, & State of Decay 2 are all games that I want to play bad, right now.

Edit: I'll also add that I fall into the camp that even if this show had been far worse I'd still be buying the XseX at launch simply because, for me, I'm buying it primarily to play all of my mostly untouched backlog of 800+ games at higher fidelity & frame rates.
