General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

The d-pad is different, the shoulder bumpers are slightly different, the triggers are textured, the overall shape/design as been tweaked a bit, and the polling/refresh rate is supposed to be higher as well

The d-pad design is more like the Elite controller, and the new one will have USB-C. I’m not sure if there are other differences.
 
I don't know how to feel about the d-pad redesign.  I always have been a fan of the + going all the way back to the nes, and when Microsoft switched to it over whatever that trash was on the .360 controller it was when I really started liking Xbox controllers.  Though I have never used that satellite looking d-pad MS has on the elite controller so I guess we'll see.

We had an insane thunderstorm here in Orlando a couple hours ago. Pretty positive my X1X is fried. Terrible timing, I'm still furloughed from work and have nothing to fill my time but video games - and it's not worth buying a new one this close to the Series X launch. I've unplugged it from the wall and I'm letting it completely reset (it was plugged into a surge protector and everything else is okay), but I think it's had it.

Make sure you unplug the power supply from the wall AND the xbox. When I have a power outage/surge, very often I have to unplug the power brick from everything for it to reset. Hope it helps!

I had a similar thing happen the very first week of my furlough this year. I was able to find a repair shop that fixed it for $80. Hopefully you're able to fix yours as well

I could be wrong but don't they suggest not to plug the X into a surge protector because one is built in?
 
I've started plugging my new consoles into the wall directly, because I have had surge protectors destory consoles in the past. Not sure which method is actually safer, but I do think that newer electronics must have some kind of safe guard against power surges. I would hope so if I'm paying $500 for one.
 
I just checked with my local shop (they are fairly small business compared to the large chain stores) regarding pre-orders of Series X. They said no pre-orders as they have no idea how many they will get. Hopefully that changes! Hopefully we get an announcement about the Lockhart tomorrow/this week.

I’m assuming they mean they won’t know how many they’re getting until they actually get them. Of course they wouldn’t know now since MS hasn’t even announced the release date or price.
 
I just noticed that I already had The Witcher III: Complete Edition installed (I purchased it years ago) and not The Witcher III, so I have to reinstall a game that I already had installed just to get the 12 kills for the Game Pass quest.  That's completely idiotic.

Ha, I was going to mention that. My cousin saw Goonies at a theater when it released and always talked about the octopus. I thought she was making it up or was on drugs. Took 20 years for them to put the octopus clip in the deleted scenes on bluray.

On a side note: Goonies 4K UHD disc comes out in September :D/ :D/ :D/

Just realized discovered I have not played my PS4 in 2 years and 2 months. My last trophy was God of War and I never even finished it. 

The crazy thing is there several game I want to play (and own) but I pretty much game on my Xbox now that my achievement streak 1960+ days. I think the say it ends will be the day I binge a bunch of PS4 exclusives.

To the member who asked which Capcom games had console exclusive content, the most notable examples are Street Fighter d Tekken where you unlocked multiple exclusives by owning the Vita game and Monster Hunter World with the Horizon: Zero Dawn characters and missions. I know there are many more too.

The whole rewards app on XBox is very inconsistent. You never know what is going to work any given day. I tried to do the Gears 5 punch card for 500 points. I got an achievement and the rewards app did not register it. I asked myself is it worth trying to get another achievement for the possibility to not get the $.50 reward again? I decided not to waste my time anymore with that punch card.

Worked me for immediately when I unlocked an achievement in Yoku's Express around 11 p.m. last night. I'm hoping it will give me another 50 points when everything resets at 6 a.m. Wish me luck.

Edit: the same achievement just gave me another 50 points at 5:47 a.m. Now that's what I call a chain combo! :applause:

That sucks, I saw it looming.

I agree that the Rewards achievement tracking being inconsistent stinks, but I can't get angry about it. I get angry about plenty of things not working, I don't know why it never gets me more than "oh well". I don't get the extreme amounts that some of you do, I'd say I get $20-30/year from casual use and I'm happy with that ROI.

Don't get me wrong. It is nice they offer all of these ways to earn points. It's just annoying when it does not work the way you expect it to. I never bother contacting support like some here have done when it does not work, I just move on. Maybe complain here too a little ;)

 
On the achievements subject... Anyone here playing Spongebob and getting them? I have put in a couple hours over a couple days and it has not triggered anything in the rewards app?

 
1st game I ever beat was Ghouls N' Ghosts on the Genesis, I had a master system before that but those games were wayyyyy to hard and I was like 4. 

I may be the only one on here who has never owned a super nintendo, hell I didn't have an NES until I was damn near 20 (bought a top loader with 2 dog bones at a garage sale for like 8 bucks, this was before they blew up) Still have yet to beat a single NES game :(

I haven't had a single issue with the achievement thing in the rewards app not registering. I have been popping a bunch of achievements in ARK though, no clue if getting 600+ gamerscore at once matters.

 
I finished the Touryst last night and besides some annoying and awkward platforming sections the game was really fun.

Also really digging Undermine and need to play some more. Xenocrisis is really good and fun Smash TV type of game.

It resets for me at 1AM PST, 12AM when clocks change.

Many of you know I almost lost my grandfather mid-May to internal bleeding from intestinal cancer and had 2 ft of his intestine removed. He is currently doing slow drip chemo every other weekend. He gets a lot of fatigue but he is doing well, and right now things look hopeful for the future.

One I didn't tell you was in June I almost lost my dad. He had intestinal colitis and low blood flow to his intestines. They started to die and he almost bled out in the shower. He spent a week in the hospital and got things under control. He seems okay now but his sedentary lifestyle after a botched spinal surgery is slowly killing him.

And it ends up July was my turn...

2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer.

I want to share this with everyone so that it may convince some of you to get that check up you've been holding off on. I had ZERO notable symptoms for mine. I only found it because I started checking myself more after my grandfather was diagnosed with his cancer in May. That month I found a tiny lump in the right side of my neck, about the size of an almond. It was only on the right side and not the left. I knew that when things are not symmetrical you definitely should get checked. The lump turned out to be an angry lymph node and after a needle biopsy it showed the proteins for thyroid cancer. Over the last 2 weeks I have finished up ultra sounds and CT scans to confirm the diagnosis and make sure everything is isolated.

For those who don't know, thyroid cancer is the least likely to spread and the easiest to cut out. My prognosis is very good. I have my surgery set up for September 2nd to have my thyroid removed. They will also be cutting out any lymph nodes that look bad. For the surgery they will be slicing me open from my right ear down to my adam's apple. After some healing time, I will then do a radioactive iodine therapy to kill any remaining cancer cells. Going forward, I will be on Thyroid medication for the rest of my life.

It goes without saying that I will have a low immune system for a while. So please, wear those masks in public for me and stay safe. And no matter your age, ALWAYS check yourself for irregularities

I'm really loving the indie games that we've been getting on GamePass 

Touryst - finished this one as well. Fun game, but cleanup wasn't quite as enjoyable for me.

Carrion - I'm really liking it so far, I took a break, need to come back to this to finish it.

CrossCode - Like an epic SNES RPG but better.  I keep chipping away at this one, it's a long game, but I really love the combat. Puzzles are really satisfying to finish. Somehow the puzzles seem too difficult, but I always manage to figure them out anyway.

Neon Abyss - Chipping away at this one too, I probably do a run every other day. I like it. It can be really fun when you get a lucky set of items that synergize really well and make you feel OP.

Undermine - My current addiction. I love the progression in this. I feel like I make a lot more progress here than I do in Neon Abyss.

Finally, I've been playing Double Kick Heroes. A pixel art, zombie slaying, music rhythm game with a mostly original heavy metal soundtrack. It'll be coming to GamePass August 28th. It's alright, I think the music is the real star of the game, but it'll be nice to have a music rhythm game for variety.

I learned my lesson the hard way (several times) before investing in series mode surge protection. Look at either Zero Surge or SurgeX. Worth every penny. And the best part, they don't degrade over time like parallel surge protectors. Which are laregly worthless.

I'm also playing CrossCode and Neon Abyss. And I feel exactly the same way about Neon Abyss, it just isn't as satisfying as Enter the Gungeon, which it seems heavily inspired by, progression is just too slow in it. I'm going to jump into Undermine, it definitely looks like a better game.

 
Understandable, but I got mine! One of those fun circumstances where something that was entirely off my radar just became a little more interesting. Haven't followed anything about the game outside of the initial trailers and the Spider-Man discussion in here.

Reportedly only 5,000 redemptions for the promo, so not sure how long it will last.

You know, I used to be oddly ashamed of all the games I have unopened, but since I started cataloging my collection over the weekend I am legit shook that it somehow bares benefits now. Though now I'll definitely never open and play some of these games nor will I probably ever sell them so now I'm at a weird process of just holding onto them and being proud to hoard them at a cheap price I guess.

It’s really not that weird, people collect action figures, beanie babies, comics, skate boards, Star Wars memorabilia, records, historical items, etc. Collecting video games because you like the industry isn’t weird at all.

I Think it's more that I originally bought these with intention to play because they were cheap and still can't get over the shock that because of my horrible backlogging habits they're now worth hundreds. Like Xenosaga episode III sealed has now become a justification of me of the benefits of never playing your games. Also how the fuck is Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 worth so damn much and why do I have a copy of each??

I got in on The Avengers through Verizon. When I redeemed it on the SE site though it froze. It now says the code is redeemed but I haven't gotten an email yet so did anyone else who did this get an email right away?
 
Can't give an exact time, but maybe within 5 to 10 minutes after first trying it.

Just checked when that tweet first went out. It was 7 minutes from the time I saw it to getting the email confirmation.
