• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

One new thing about next gen I didn't realize is that quick resume works even if you fully shut down your xbox. You could power down, even unplug it, and it would save your quick resume states.

I've barely been following PS5, but I've already seen several games mentioned where the PS4 game saves will not transfer to the PS5 updated version of the games. It would be insane to have that happen for an RPG like this but just a heads up. I have not seen any confirmation of Xbox upgrades having the same issue, but who knows. Xbox had much better save compatibility last generation since disc and digital were the same, but even here we had an issue with Witcher standard vs complete version (I believe but can't personally confirm since it's still in the backlog).

If you pay for it entirely in X-bucks it takes the amount now. If you pay with any other form of payment (CC, PP) then it waits until closer to release before being charged.

I think your conclusion is correct though. So far, there are two games, Dirt 5 and Maneater, which have confirmed that they are getting next-gen versions, that Xbox One version saves will carry over into the Xbox Series X version, but PS4 saves will NOT carry over into the PS5 version. You will have to start the game over if you upgrade to the PS5 version of those titles.

That doesn't mean that PS4 Cyberpunk saves will not be compatible with the PS5 version. But it's reason to worry.

The one that seemed oddest to me is that supposedly the PS5 remaster of Spiderman does not allow continuing from the PS4 save, but the Miles Morales one will let you continue from your PS4 save. If they don't bother doing it on first party stuff either it is fairly difficult or just not a feature they are super concerned about offering.

Backwards compatibility on either system should work fine, but free next gen upgrades just might be a total crapshoot. I'll probably delay playing any games that will definitely be getting upgrades to avoid the whole issue. My backlog keeps me several years behind anyway so it should work out fine by then.

I get that Spiderman remastered is a different game, it's only odd that Miles Morales is different by the same company. Last gen we weren't surprised when out Skyrim saves didn't magically work with Skyrim special edition. But this generation where launch games have been generally replaced with cross generation upgrades just feels like maybe a little more effort should have been put towards save compatibility. It could still end of that 99% do work in the end and these few we know of are just outliers so no need to panic... yet.

I noticed that the over the past couple of days when the 10k punchcard started. Ever since they started doing the daily 50 pts for an achievement, I could pop one after 8pm and get credit for it the following day. I just would do it unless I was busy during the day. Oh well.

I thought it was just the ghost mode that was getting shut down. Sniper co-op will get shut down before 3 is out, but it's safe for now.

I've been eyeing them for about 6-8 weeks now to do the same thing and haven't caught any deals. Even CDkeys has been hovering around MSRP on it. I think there was deal on some site like BCDkeys or something (maybe $40ish) but it seemed a bit sketchy. I have decided to buy a few codes from amazon since I get a 5% cashback on that card plus I can cash out a couple $20 gift card through my employer's rewards program.

I've considered using some GameStop points to cash out coupons and try buying Live from them...but not sure it that will work. Seems like GS can be hit or miss on what you can buy with coupons or even the ability to use rewards points.

Yes, this is a pretty good deal if you haven't done the GPU conversion yet. Just be very careful about accepting any bonus months you get offered for turning on recurring billing, because if you are trying to combine a 2-year code and a 1-year code before conversion and you accept that extra month, you won't be able to redeem one of your codes because of the 3-year limit.

Only issue with that game is TA says it is a 5-6 hour completion. Easy but a little time consuming.
