General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

The new Call of Duty is going to be 250 gigs day one on PC. I think the size is probably close between it and consoles if MW is safe to judge by. Ridiculous.
 
Maybe one of you fine folks can help me.

Im trying to get some rockband/guitar hero controllers working on xbox one.

They had a legacy adapter that you had to use. Originally it was 20.00 now its 150.00. Thats crazy.

The question is there is a new item out called Brooks controller adapter that came out. Its 20.00 but does 360 controllers to xbox one. Has anyone heard of this, used it, or know if it would work for the guitar cobtrollers?

I've been trying to find a solution to this problem as well. If that works that'd be amazing though even still I assume it only supports up to one instrument? Trying to get band play working like that may be a hassle but again if it works it'd be awesome just to be able to play rock band at all on the my x1 for a feasible price

So I bought it thinking it was similar to Dishonored. Lol boy was I wrong. I'm near the end now and it's just... Very much not my kinda game. My friend bought it and is loving it so his encouragement has kept me playing but I'm still doubtful I'll get through the end. I'll admit I'm far from the best gamer but this is one of the harder games I think I've ever played, and it frustrates me too. I've played Katana Zero and HLM and similar games with these mechanics but this one just feels way less forgiving. I want to say I'm on Act 14 of 17 and I just feel completely burnt out by it. It was fun at first trying to master what it had to offer but now it's just.... Tiring. Not sure how far you are but the first boss took me 260 something tries to complete and the second boss I found much easier but still took me around 100 my first attempt. Admittedly after I did beat the second boss I was super confident and boosted my completion on that to only 9 tries but still. May play some more but I'm giving it time. I find the "cyber" world puzzles frustrating too

So my understanding is that that’s like a 30 minute to an hour “episode” of the game? I actually think I played the mobile version of that.

Really seems like they should just be giving that away as a demo before Infinite.
 
Emails are going out for Xbox Fanfest Trivia with discount codes for the Razer Kishi and unique code to add 5,000 MS Rewards points to your account. Also everyone is being entered into a drawing for the Series X. So no Game Pass Ultimate subs, no Streaming Controller Clips, and no headsets.
 
Just got email about the FanFest trivia fail.  They gave me the $10 Razer Kishi discount (meh), a code for 5000 MS Reward points as promised, and I am entered into a drawing to win an "Xbox Series Xbox" which apparently happens today.  This drawing is sponsored by the Department of Redundancy Department.  :)

 
Nice, I got the 5000 point code even though I only attempted to login to the trivia once.

Puts me at over 305k points.  I'll use that to get a Series X next year.

Same but I didn’t do the trivia. The $10 off is kind of funny cuz if you go to razed site it says you get $10 off your purchase if you sign up for the newsletter. I’m not buying anything anyways since I have an iPhone and apple won’t let Microsoft into the sandbox yet.

I'm curious about that... luckily I bought the adapter when it came out, but my instruments could be in better condition.

I'm amazed that they still haven't found a way to make new instruments. There is some demand there after all. Not huge, but some.

Thanks for the help. I was hoping I stummbled into something good. There is still a market for them. If not the stuff wouldnt be selling for so much. Such a lost opportunity.

I only have the one 360 guitar. So for me the legacy adapter doesn't make sense. Ill just buy the xbox one stuff. I just hate throwing down 200+ for a game. I got to throw down 500+ here in a bit to get a new xbox.

So this might sound stupid but why is that a problem? Can't you play Rock Band with a regular controller? I assume the buttons are still mapped fine (Green=A or whatever it is). Or does rock band not support using a regular controller to begin with? My original thought was just to crack open a regular controller and pop it inside an old guitar controller and wire it up properly. Figured it'd show as a core controller but though that shouldn't be a problem

A regular controller just comes up as microphone controller.
 
Got the 5000 point code. The only place I can find to redeem it was on the Xbox site, which redirects to redeem.microsoft.com. I get “ Code not found. Try reentering it. If that doesn’t work contact the merchant“. So what am I doing wrong here?

A shocktober tab has finally appeared in the Xbox game deals, but no punch card for Microsoft Rewards.
I am guessing the movies shocktober punch card would not include games.

Finished Rise and Shine before it leaves gamepass, nice game.

Just got the $50 Dell Rewards for hitting level 25 on Alienware Arena.  Looks like that might be the last tier with a $ reward.  Now to repeat the challenge of ordering a $50 Xbox code from Dell and having them fulfill the order.

Question: If I buy OG Xbox or 360 games through the "new" Microsoft store, can I still download them on a 360 console? Or will I only be able to access them on XB1/Series SX?

It's kind of a moot point for me because I'll probably never own a 360. But I'm still curious.

 
My girlfriend and I both got the 5000 point code in our FanFest email. I just started the stream for both our accounts, we were busy celebrating her Birthday with friends at the start time, so we did not try to participate in the trivia at all.

Rest in peace Sean Connery.  While of course everyone will remember him as Bond, Highlander and The Rock are among my favorite films.  So farewell Mr. Bond, Ramirez, and John Mason - you will be remembered.

Tying this back into video games, it's a shame we never got a Highlander game - there was one in development but it was canceled 10 years ago.  Much like the Animus concept in AC, Highlander provides the perfect excuse for a number of gameplay mechanics (surviving "death", playing in different time periods, etc.).  It could've used a fun combo of swords and modern weaponry as well.

Also, screw you 2020.

Such a crazy thing to say. This interview instantly changed millions of peoples opinion of him. Can you imagine an actor saying this today? That said, The Rock is still one of my favorite action movies. RIP
