• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Skill trees are supposed to be just power boosts with little to zero impact on actual gun/swordplay, with exception of augmentations but that's it. And all narrative apparently just leads down the same path with just variations/tweaks to what you encounter on the way.

If true, that's pretty much an epic failing for an RPG based on pen and paper.

Depends what you're expecting. I was a big fan of the p&p, but I was still expecting a videogame, something like the Witcher/Deus Ex. I said that here before release.

So if you we're expecting something never seen before in storytelling mechanics, or whatever mechanics, this is not it. Your choices are as impactfull as they were in the Witcher 3, but there are more ending scenarios based on choices and side missions. Side missions add a lot to the character progression and impact on the story.

What I'm praising about the story and characters is the quality of the writing, narrative, voice acting (except Keanu, but i'm not a fan), facial animations, etc. This alone is compeling me to definitely do a 2nd playthrough after I've completed everything, and I still have a lot to do.

The complaints sound like they came from someone that didn’t put much time into the game. I had 15 hrs before I hit the title screen. I have about 25 hrs in and none of my skills are over 8. I am now just starting to see how understand how character progression works and can see how many skills points I need in a particular area to mold the character to play how I want. Character progression definitely has an impact and skills will work to tailor your character.

Regarding narrative I can’t really say because even with 25 hrs in I’m just scratching the surface. I’m like 10-15% into the main story.

I get the feeling people really overhyped this game and made it out something it wasn’t supposed to be and now they’re all disappointed.

I play about every game that comes out and has come out since the 80s or 90s. I can’t recall a game that has ever delivered on the things that people were expecting cyberpunk to do. Lol

On the surface, yes, but it's so much more. Rolling up as much as you can within a certain time limit, from small items like paperclips and pushpins to people, trees, and buildings. Certain levels challenge you with picking up a particular items (crabs, twins) while other levels end immediately when you pick up a certain item (cow) so you have to avoid those and build up the size of your ball first. Again, on the surface, it sounds simplistic, but it's the experience that changes you. The cathartic nature of simply rolling stuff up, the challenge of coming back to items that were impossible to roll up before, and the mesmerizing music that will happily be stuck with you for days. Honestly, do not sleep on this deal. It is an amazing game that doesn't get nearly enough love as it should. A true hidden gem.

Indeed. This was a fantastic genre. The likes of Katamari, Mr. Mosquito, and Muscle March definitely fill that "What the hell did I just play?" itch that sometimes just needs a good scratch.

I know people like pacing their achievements, recent GwG Trine 4 is good for 6 quick ones. Each of 3 tutorial missions give one, maybe 5 minutes each. You get another pop for collecting all experience items. Run mission and miss an item, run and collect, repeat.

An update on this as Xbox 360 games that are part of sale do count towards spending $50. Did a $50 gift card with bing points and purchased Rocket Knight, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Unleashed which came out $16.50 after tax. Was pleasantly surprised to see $16 showing towards spend $50 get 5,000 points reward.

So Xbox 360 games that are part of the sale count. Only thing left for Microsoft to do is make Xbox 360 games gift-able.

It's a shame this game came out so early in the year, since March 2020 feels like it was 3 years ago. It may not be what everyone wanted in a Doom game based on the strategy involved and the platforming, but aside from that, this game is one of the best shooters I've played in a very long time. My biggest complaint is that the MP is just not fun.

Confident this one is coming to Xbox in the Spring since Sony had 1 year exclusivity, probably as part of a next-gen definitive edition (because S-E would love an excuse to milk FF7 even more). Even though the ending overstayed its welcome by about 2-3 hours, I couldn't put this game down until it was finished. It's also one of the best looking and sounding games I've ever played, with the remixed soundtrack getting all the right nostalgia but still feeling fresh. I may double dip on Series X when it's finally real.
 
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2
Speaking of nostalgia. I couldn't put this one down either, they nailed the controls / physics and it's just a testament to good game design, since the main things that made the original games so good are all right here. I really hope they do a DLC expansion for THPS3 instead of making them a separate game entirely.
 
Dragon Quest 11
I played on the Switch, but I'm counting it since the Xbox version just came out. I've been playing DQ for over 20 years and this might be my favorite entry in the series. 
 
Streets of Rage 4
Same as Tony Hawk, they just captured what made the original games stand out and game them a modern packaging. Older beat-em-ups can feel tedious or boring in 2020 but SoR4 has a lot of variety and doesn't overstay its welcome. Lots of high score chasing for repeat playthroughs with friends if you just can't get enough.
 
Carrion
It could have used a better map, but you basically get to play as the Carnage symbiote and that's ing cool.
 
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
I'm only about 30-40% of the way through, but this is such a well-made game. Equal parts absurd toilet humor and deadly serious plot, there is a ton to do and everything you can do advances your character / party progression. If you haven't started yet, get to Chapter 5 before you start grinding or doing a ton of side stuff, you unlock bonding systems, job systems, etc and start earning a lot of experience towards both.

Not too hard if you don't have kids. I've finished at least 80 games each year for the last 5+ years. I'm married, work a full time job running a company, and we watch through like 80 shows a year also.

Managed to get me a Series X this morning. Woke up and saw on CAG's Twitter that Target was taking orders for in-store pickup so I quickly placed one at a Target about 20 minutes away. It was ready to go about 2 hours later. I've got it set up and downloading the SX enhanced updates right now. Just need to get a 4K TV now...

Quite a few of them are 10 hours or less, but it still feels like a lot! My list also didn't include the many hours of Borderlands 3 I've logged with my best friend.

Mostly though, it's just 2020. Normally I'd be traveling, going to shows / concerts / etc, and not have so much time at home. Working from home and all extracurricular and cultural events have been shut down for 9+ months, gaming has been one of the few escapes from the day to day monotony. Friday and Saturday nights, after dinner we usually just end up playing a lot of games.

I haven't played TLOU2 or Ghost of Tsushima yet, so they aren't up for consideration.

According to the Completed Games Tab thread here on CAG, I've beaten 59 games this year. Some fair few of those are walking sims, quick completions, and the like.

Favorite games of the year are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, The Last of Us Part II, and Cyberpunk 2077 (from what I've played of it so far).

With the punch card I bought 3 games and it is only counting the 1 game. I had a look on the site and you can search for games in the sale and 2 of the games I bought are not countdown sale games ( must be games with gold).

So should the punch card also count Games with Gold game sales also?

Must be a sign I have too many games when the only thing I bought during the holiday sale was Atlas for $14.99 and that’s based purely on future speculation that it might be enhanced for the Series X someday.

If I buy a game on one xbox profile on my console and buy DLC for the game on a different account on the same xbox, there is no issue with accessing everything on either account is there?

As long the DLC account has your Xbox set as the Home console.
