General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

My series X must have heard you guys talking about controllers desyncing. I had no problems with it until I saw it mentioned here, now I've had it happen 2 days in a row. At first I thought my controller ran out of batteries because it disconnected, but looked down and the light on the controller was blinking. Tried other controllers and none would connect. Tried a USB C cable and it wouldn't connect. Tried powering off and back on and it wouldn't connect. You actually have to do a hard reset to get it to fix. I hope Microsoft gets a fix out quick for this, if I had lost any game progress I wouldn't be happy, luckily the game I was playing saved both times before it happened.

I had this happen for the first time last night too. I got the low battery notification and swapped batteries and then my controller wouldn't turn back on and it really freaked me out. Tried various things to get it to sync back up, and I am not sure what finally worked but I got it.

Clearly I'm not used to Xbox stuff, but I hope that doesn't become a normal thing.

Nothing wrong with being broke on a site called Cheap Ass Gamer. I think I was 18 and collecting carts at a Home Depot when I joined this site many years ago, and now I make a decent salary but I still like to be cheap with my gaming purchases.

It’s weird going back to an old game you haven’t played in a while. I’ve been playing some Overwatch because I finished the Apex season pass and it’s like time stood still. They have a couple new heroes but it still feels almost the same except the meta has changed a lot due to new hero skills. I don’t really like being locked into a role in pub matches though. I wish I could pick any hero mid game.

I just went back a page to check the original post and yes he is responding to a post that wasn't directed to him. Which is pretty pointless on his part.

Maybe if it's a stupid good deal or you are picking it up for collecting...otherwise, I would just save those funds to put towards a Series. If your S craps out before the revision, I'd say money better spent toward any Series vs a discontinued 1X imo
 
Hitman 3 punch card is back up, i had pre ordered Hitman after the punch went away but when the punch reappeared it had my purchase checked and all I had to do was activate the punch and got my points

I’m passing on getting a 1S or 1X as backup. Not really into collecting and from what I’ve seen the prices for pre-owned One consoles is near MSRP depending on the condition. I’m going with the Series S as a backup until a Series X revision comes along.

I Just ordered another one for a friend of a friend and I can't wait to buy one for myself...in two to three years! At least I don't have to feel too concerned about waiting out on a bundle considering Game Pass and One controllers being compatible.

 
Played Donut County last night. Completed it in 1 sitting(just over 2 hours). Game was fun and witty. Also an easy 1000/1000 for achievements!

 
Resident Evil game news:

-RE8 out May 7th, PS5 exclusive demo now, all platforms demo in Spring
-RE/Verse - appears to be a team deathmatch versus game featuring characters from many of the games. Included with RE8. Is is the beta next week. Looks rough.
-Division 2 crossover event. Several costumes and what appears to be a Nemesis event, starts Feb 2nd

No HD collection, who knows where those screenshots were source from.
 
If Gold really is going up that much it's either going to drive a lot of people away or a switch to GamePass Ultimate. I feel like most people aren't taking advantage of holiday sales like us.

10 a month for basic Gold is steep as hell considering how weak GWG has been on average since GamePass took off.

Series X/S owners who transfered downloaded games from a One/X that have next gen versions (Destiny, Fortnite, Halo, Gears...), is there a realtively small patch to download for the upgrade, or is their usually a full game download.

I assume Control has a full download but I can't tell with other stuff.

Yep that's the same issue I'm running into with it. Original controller batteries ran out go put other ones in and the White Xbox symbol will flash for a second and turn off. Bought some new batteries today same result, guess I'll keep trying but that's pretty annoying. Luckly I'm currently in a situation where long USB C cable isn't the worst thing in the world, but add me to the pile of people with controller issues.

Yes, my backlog is too strong. I have been resisting getting gamepass ultimate since I would rather just have online play available with GWG and the discounts associated with it. My gold is expiring next month so I would really like to find a good deal on gold if the price is going up that much.

I purposefully kept my One X when I bought my Series X as a back up and to use in my bedroom. If something went wrong with my Series X and had to send it off, I would at least have the One X to play on.
 
I've had some controller sync issues but removing a battery and just putting it back in fixes it.

Another fun issue is after, say, 20ish hours of non-use, my Xbox refuses to launch games. Previously, I had been doing a reboot to rectify, but I tried a network test in the settings today and that seemed to work as well.

Good times with new consoles! I secured a PS5 on Best Buy today, but it won't be ready for store pick-up until the 31st. Plenty of time to flip-flop on keeping it ...

The comparisons are inevitable; it was clearly an inspiration for the developer. I enjoyed my time in donut County with its quirky characters and nonsensical storyline, but I won't be returning.

Katamari kept me coming back again and again trying to find secret areas, get better scores and sometimes just trying to finish the level without losing. With DC you can't lose. There is literally no 'game over' unless you're very very bad at the last level. There are a couple of lightweight puzzles that may slow you down for a minute but that's all.

It's kind of like a visual novel or hole walking Sim where there's stuff to do but it's just there to move along the story. There's a good core here but it's just so short and filled with untapped potential. I'm glad that I played it, but also glad that I didn't spend any money on it.
 
Donut Country is a super easy 1000G for anyone who still needs to meet the requirements for the 10K bonus by end of week.

It takes a little over an hour to do everything. The dialog and story aren't side-splittingly funny, but they are pretty good. All of the gameplay is easy. Dropping things down holes is subconsciously soothing. Game is one of the easiest Platinums on PSN, too.

They weren't small patches, but they weren't full game size either. I want to say Gears 5 was 40 or 60GB. But do yourself a favor and move any game that requires to be installed on the internal drive to the internal drive BEFORE launching the game and triggering the updates. I had more than one game that installed the series X upgrade patch separately leaving the base game on my external drive. I then had to delete both and redownload the entire game

 
I'm still messing with the game streaming over wifi to my phone. I have an XB controller BT to my phone to play. While game streaming from my old 1s with the xbox app, if I press the XB button (big lit up one in the middle) to pull up the console menu (to exit a game, etc.) it launches the gamepass app on my phone and I have to close that, remote back into my console under the xbox app, then do whatever I needed on the menu.

Is there a way to disable that button from launching the gamepass app when a controller is connected to my phone? I tried looking in the settings and online, but I am not really sure what to even search....

 
Playing through two Telltale games pretty much killed my desire to go for the full 10k.

Also, I could keep ranting about what Telltale did to various Batman characters, but I just don’t care at this point. But I will say I liked Harley’s voice actor.

Two as in back to back, or two as in double boxing them?
I double boxed Game of Thrones, took a break and am double boxing Michonne now. Either way, I do need a pallet cleanser afterwards.

 
I'm not sure I liked Dandara as much but I also didn't get it done before it left GamePass so that's nice. Wondered about that Indy game after last weeks announcement, never played that so bonus there. I already own the rest but if you didn't pretty solid month for sure. That of course makes me wonder about that price increase rumor from the other day. They going to also put more effort into Games with Gold now or is this just a one off month?

Cool, I haven't gotten a HDD/SSD for Xbox yet so will probably be doing a network transfer, and I don't think that will cause the same weirdness.

With this info, it seems like the only annoyance I should have is having to manually re-install Fallout and Skyrim mods, along with load order.

This is the best or second best month in probably a year, I'm curious if they'd even say anything if they improve the overall offerings.

The article doesn't even mention a 5 game month like it's special.
