• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

When I started downloading it and realized Morrowind was only like 1GB I remembered just how old it was and I reset my expectations accordingly. I'm definitely going to turn the difficulty down and exploit some enchanting quirks to give myself a little more fun on this jaunt down memory lane.

Prey runs on CryEngine (and Unreal for the DLC?) which meshes with the speculation I had a few days ago.

Dishonored runs on Unreal Engine 3. I think this is the first announced Unreal game and could encompass a LOT of games, but is not particularly surprising either. I checked into Dishonored 2, it runs on a proprietary engine based on IdTech5, so hard to guess there. Kind of weird since Prey was only a year later, but they were different teams of Arcane.

Fallout 76 is a no brainer, being on the Creation Engine of FO4 or Skyrim.

Thanks for that but I guess I wasn't clear. I was wondering if it had to have the promotion on it to qualify. Like maybe it's a different UPC on the one with the artwork. I can always just check list and then it won't matter what the artwork is. How much did you stack overall? I have GPU until 8/2023 so I'd like extend it to the 3 year limit. I see that there is a 14 day and a 30 day. Do you know what products give the 30 day?

Yeah Dead Island 2 is the one that got Vampire the Masquerade 2 treatment where it was going on and then publisher said, just stop, just stop whatever you're doing you're all gone. Last I checked Dying Light 2 was still the same initial studio (that made Dead Island 1) but they have had their own issues. to be fair the game was only first shown at E3 2018... so really only 2 E3's ago, that's not even a teenager in video game time

The ones that just show the title screen are the worst. I think on of the older basketball games let you dribble around and shoot hopes while waiting. I enjoyed that. I have learned to not bother try playing a game until it is fully installed though.

I'm not sure how well I'd remember it if it wasn't co-op, but had fun with a friend in Dying Light. The gameshow challenge dlc was annoying though for one of the achievements.

They go down in price pretty quickly physical and you can always sell or trade them in once next years game is out but with digital, it just sits there and pretty much no one plays 20 if 21 is out and 21 gets put aside once 22 comes out etc. I have a friend that has Madden 13-20 all digital. I asked him if he ever plays the older one's and he's like "no, why would ?" I don’t understand getting sports games day one yearly either because I play career mode against the cpu and agree with a lot of what you said. I love FIFA but usually wait until it hits EA Access but I got this year’s for free and marked down with a gift card because I wanted to play the new gen version. I don’t care much if anything for the other sports games either beyond futbol and baseball games (NBA is ok on GP or dirt cheap.) When I still had my PS4 I would only buy MLB when it got down to $20. This is way out of character for me and would never normally do this. It’s different this year because I haven’t played a proper baseball game since 2019, while still playing the previous year’s game when I sold my PS4 to get a Switch. Under these circumstances and considering I really miss playing the game, I have no reservations about buying MLB the Show day one this year for my Xbox.

Depending on your "friends" a lot of "sports video games" is playing online and going to where the player base is playing, same as a Call of Duty. If you're just playing solo against the CPU yeah then wait, as far as digital vs physical. Scan my brain in or whatever, I avoid discs at any cost these days. So I'm having issues with my Series X not turning on from the controller. It beeps, but doesn't actually turn on. I can press the button on the machine and it turns on fine. Tried with 2 separate "new/Series" controllers and plugged them in to make sure they were updated and synced.
