• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I thought for those of us who have the physical Xbox One version there is no upgrade unless you own the digital deluxe edition. Did they fix this? I know it was announced as a $10 upgrade for the physical PS4 edition but the Xbox One seemingly was getting the shaft.

No, I have the digital edition on Xbox which does have the $10 upgrade still. Personally I wish I hadn’t paid for it.

Finished New Super Lucky's Tale last week and I like it. Decided to try the original version and holy crap I kind of wished I had not. It is so weird to play a game that looks so close to the game you just played but is so inferior. The controls are wonky, the camera limited and it is way less forgiving. It is more difficult but for the wrong reasons really. I would advise avoiding if you care about finishing every game you play because I am not sure I am making it the end of this one...I am actually concerned I might not actually be good enough to make it to the end.

Edit: Side Note. Today is my 6 year achievement streak mark...here is to another 6 years?!?

I got 100% in the original version but haven't played New (yet). It was pretty hard but mostly came down to 3 achievements that were a pain and 1 that was a grind that got me frustrated.

For all those considering the Series X upgrade for Tony Hawk 1+2, I’m not sure I’d bother unless you have a TV that can do 120 FPS. The graphics upgrade isn’t that noticeable to me. At least not worth $10 IMO.

I did have to download the “new” version as I don’t think Smart Delivery works due to the fact that Activision made people pay extra for it. But other than that I haven’t had any issues with playing it. Colors look normal and no crashes after playing it a few hours.

For me it crashes when going through the game settings in the menu. If I launch the game, let it sit on the menu for a minute, and then start playing a level it works okay.

Yeah, I'm bummed that the HDR is broken on mine. The deep blacks are gone and everything looks flat. I'm going to try re-installing and see if that fixes it.

I really need to concentrate on finishing it, but it's so damn fun that I keep getting distracted wandering off in whatever random direction my new skills take me. The environments have decent variety as you progress further. What you're describing about the script doesn't improve significantly over the course of the game. I wouldn't call the dialogue a strong point. If it bothers you that much.. game's probably not for you.

First there were some dinosaur looking things you had to shoot their tails while the bulldozed you. Then there was a lava cave I couldn’t blow up a wall in. It took me some time to effectively fight the Pikemanders, the desert ones are even harder since their weak spot has armor. I was unable to avoid their rolling attack 80% of the time I dodged. So I just started spamming the dodge button, seemed to keep me from getting hit mostly. As for the wall, there are many areas you can't access until you progress further and unlock the necessary upgrades. I think I ended up spending nearly 12 hours on the first section, and another 12 so far on the last two, including mopping up achievements and collectibles in the first area. I could have done it a lot faster, but I wanted to enjoy it. After taking part in the HOF last year and then the subsequent event or whatever they called it a couple months ago, I'm sick of rushing through games.

I’ve read co-op makes a difference as far as difficulty and enjoyment. Trying to get the grapple was when I got too frustrated to want to continue. I started playing it as soon as it was announced it was leaving Gamepass so I should have had enough time to get through it without rushing it. The availability of walkthroughs and guides for games now is great but I don’t want to play a game with one sitting next to me.

Similar to what DGenerateKane said, the achievement events not only do I not want to rush through any game but they also burned some of my enjoyment out of games right now. So perhaps my issue with the game is more to do with my own personal reasons. I’m not having fun with a lot of games right now which sucks because it’s one of the few escapes I have.

My friend and I couldn't finish this. Aside from getting stuck a few times, after a few levels, we got the hang of it and felt like we had enough. It reminded us a bit of the first Assassin's Creed game in terms of the overall repetitive structure. Go to a new level, find the entrance to next level, oops you can't get through unless you unlock new ability, do things to get new ability, go to next level, repeat. The humor was definitely nice, just not enough to keep us playing. We did enjoy what we played though. There just wasn't enough to entice us to keep going.

I'm hoping Outer Worlds season pass is in the big sale. There's a punchcard for the second half but not worth it. I don't think I've bought Gamepass dlc yet. Thanks to whoever posted that NFSHP was free to play. Played for a few hours over the weekend and got my fix in.  Was going to buy it but now I can wait until it will be free on EA Play.  Ended up getting about 6 achievement really easy, wish I could have saved those for this weeks rewards, but I forgot how bad the drifting and rubberbanding is in that game, but still fun to play.

I'm glad MS has a better handle on figuring this shit out, or maybe has more drive to. They've added the ability to sell digital copies of games that never were possible with old limitations, like Xbox Prime games or multi-disc games. I hope that remains a core focus for the life of Xbox. It's not flawless, and I do expect multiplayer for 360 games to go away eventually, but it's miles ahead of how the other console manufacturers deal with legacy support.

Or games that had huge day 1 patches, or later updates. MGS4 and GTA4 come to mind, neither launched with trophy support and had it patched in wayyy after the fact. Once those servers go down, complete versions of those games won't be available. GTA4 is obviously available on other platforms, but MGS4 is the only game in the series to be locked to it's original platform.

At the very least, smart phones 7 years ago could run PS1 games, there is NO reason not to have emulation support for PS1 purchases on PSN instead of completely abandoning them.

Yep. I quit buying discs all together for this very reason. There's basically no use for physical for games that have any online or log in component.

Not going to lie, simple small shit like XBox Movies being Movies Anywhere compatible gives me more faith in them and their digital future than Nintendo and Sony. They aren't perfect, but I don't feel they're as insanely stubborn especially with all the backwards compatibility focus.

Agree with him on most points, though I actually really like the Dual Sense adaptive triggers and will get some multi-platform games on PS5 because of it. Otherwise, GamePass and other consumer friendly policies gives me little reason to go outside of the Series X and earns goodwill to make me want to spend money with MS.

I was very diehard about discs for a long time, but even beyond trash like required check-ins or activations, the shift to a reliance on patches has started to make them lose value. Games that are busted as like Cyberpunk, or only have a small amount of actual data on the disc are common occurrences now.

Personally I've been avoiding buying deeply into the digital space for both Sony and Nintendo due to their histories of support, and it continues to prove a good call.

I only hope Xbox stays around for the long haul, and if a long term storefront I'm invested in goes down I'll switch entirely to PC. As is, I don't see a reason that anything would force the current store setup of Xbox to become obsolete, with a focus on emulation and extremely straight forward architecture now, as well as the old content being modernized into the current store front, which Sony and Nintendo have never really done.

Can't speak for Outriders, but crossplay does not always mean cross save, and vice versa. Apex Legends does not have cross save. Destiny 2 does not (currently) have cross play.

It depends on how they store the data, how the game interacts with the servers, and how the monetiziation works based on what I've been able to find over the years.

Sometimes you get weird outliers for ports, like Warframe had a one-time account copy to switch versions before.
