• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I'm relatively new to the XBOX scene (last console was the original XBOX prior to this series X) but I am trying to get into the Forza games. I must really suck at driving games as I can't seem to control the car well at all. I am trying the career mode and the only thing I see is going to one marker and setting up a race. Am I missing something? How do I do other things in the career mode? Is it supposed to be hard to start with and you accumulate street cred to spend on upgrading your car so it is actually able to maintain speed when turning?

Also, I beat the first Halo back in the day on the OG XBOX and have been meaning to play through the other games in the Master Chief Collection via Gamepass. Would it make sense to eventually buy the master chief collection or is it expected to remain in Gamepass as a core Microsoft experience along with gears of war? It's kind of a Catch-22 for me as I had intended to finally play through the only 2-3 Microsoft exclusives I found interesting (Fable series being the third) but if they are never leaving Gamepass then would my time be better spent on the newer multiplatform games on Gamepass?

Can't help you with Forza, as I haven't really touched them even though I bought Horizon 3 years ago. As for MCC and Gamepass, every MS owned IP should theoretically stay indefinitely. The possible exception is Forza, since there are licensing issues that cause the older games to always get delisted after a set time, but we don't know for sure since the only Forza games on the service haven't been out long enough to be delisted.

I could see Microsoft working with EA to put it on gamepass pretty quick then hitting EA Access once it leaves gamepass - basically making it a permanent part of gamepass.

I don't think Microsoft is done. The rumors of Square Enix releasing more Gamepass day one titles and we still have Watch Dogs Legion to hit Gamepass. I'd imagine April and May will be pretty big months for gamepass and then they will go for Sonys jagular in the holidays when even more big AAA games hit gamepass day one.

I think "day one" is probably the distinction to consider her. While Outriders is truly day one, all of the other recent SE additions were new ports of long existing games. Nier Replicant isn't announced.

Glad Comcast pushed off their bandwidth quota in the Northeast (i.e., markets where they have some solid competition).  Set up my Series X, moved the drives over from the One X and the upgrades for Series enhanced titles were basically the full size downloads.  ~75 GB for FH4 and DLCs, 90+ for Gears 5, 70+ for Borderlands 3 and DLCs, bunch of other games.  Only thing I've played on it so far is Tetris Effect, since that was just a 3-4 GB download.  Wasn't a problem for me, perfectly fine christening the new console with an iteration of my favorite game.

The upgrades plus watching Godzilla vs Kong a couple times (so far) would tear through a quota.

The Windows 8 and phone versions of MS casual games (Solitaire, Sudoku, etc.) are shutting down on Monday.  The Win10 version of MS Bingo is shutting down, too.  Not 100% certain if this will block out all achievements, or perhaps just the daily challenge ones.  Already finished many of the Win8 ones.  Should finish the Bingos and JP Sudoku this weekend.  Need to sideload Jigsaw and see what my badge levels are at.  Can probably finish the badges for Taptiles, but doubtful on some of the others.

In other end of life news, Gears Pop also had an update yesterday, with 2 more planned for the 8th and 15th before it shuts down on the 26th.  Yesterday's update made further tweaks to pin upgrades (fewer coins needed, more XP gained) and doubled pin rewards in crates.  I actually made Gold league, so 3 achievements to go.  The tough one now is maxing out a pin.  The coming updates may help with that, but they haven't said exactly what they're doing.  A prior update that attempted to lower the pins needed by 60% broke some things and needed to be rolled back.  Should be able to reach player level 20 with the coin / XP changes they've made, but am holding off on upgrading pins I don't use in case they reduce the number needed.  I think I can grind out Seriously Pop.  If you lose enough ranked matches, you can get consistently matched against bots in casual for easy Vs wins.  And I can KO pins by myself in Horde matches using laptop and tablet.

Which Forza are you playing? It sounds like a Horizon game if yo are setting up races by driving up to markers rather than using menus in Motorsport. The last two FHs have had a pretty extended introduction to walk you thru different race types and events. It's like an hour or two and then everything is opened up. Very annoying for veteran players who would really just need the changes dished out.

Horizon is very forgiving, but still rooted in realism so if you are driving a super car (think Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren) then holding the gas all the way in thru a turn will wipe you out. You should have a driving line with red indications for your speed being too high to make a turn. Use that as a guide and you should do at least a quick brake while still straight right before the curve to set the weight of the car up front so that those tires with the most grip are controlling the car the most. And accelerate out of the turn. It may just take getting used to compared to what you've played in the past. What do you usually race?

Congrats on the cap removal! Working on the casual games as well. Bingo I think will close completely as it has olnine lobbies for the games. Should have started sooner, but I thought sideloading the WP8 stuff would be more of a pain.

I have been through many gaming highs through the years and eventually most of them fall. I really hope that is not the case for GamePass. But I guess we will ride it until the wheels fall off.

Of course if the US Military keeps giving MS almost $30 billion for augmented reality we could ride this forever.

This will actually be the 2nd big government contract that Microsoft have secured with the U.S. government within a few years. They also beat out Amazon, Google, and Orcale for the Jedi cloud contract. I have been a long term shareholder and Microsoft has really been a good company holding.

So I just tried using the Hitman 3 Starter Pack for my old Hitman stuff and now I'm confused. I own Hitman 2 GOTY but my Hitman 1 is from Games with Gold. I have the Hitman 1 campaign installed and working in Hitman 2. In Hitman 3, it recognizes that I have Hitman 2 but the Hitman 1 stuff is locked out and it wants me to pay $30 for that. Also, oddly, I can't find Hitman 1 in my Gold library even though I have the stuff working in 2. Anyone else seen this?

Dude, Hitman is a giant cluster trying to get things working.

When Hitman 2 first came out, I was able to play all the missions without the disc for a few days, then I needed the disc. Then certain missions needed to be redownloaded. Or certain items weren't registering correctly, it's a goddamn mess and you should buy this digitally. The only thing I can say about Hitman 1 is go the marketplace for Hitman 1 and search for all 8 listings of Hitman 1 and see which own is labeled 'You own this'.

To do this day I've never played the Patient Zero Mission because it's confusing as hell what you actually 'own' and have access too. And to top it off, there game requires an internet connection despite being a single player game.

I have a second account that I use for my Playstation stuff (my PS was hacked and had to change my email) from years ago and I decided to at least do the daily stuff on it. Please keep us updated if you can. I saw I think two others who posted about doing the EA Access "glitch" and having their GPU sub glitch out back in December but for whatever reason they never posted what ended up happening. Mine is also coming up soon and I extended 2 years till 2023 but was worried about this happening to me as well. Looks like whoever took advantage of the conversion glitch is going to have to deal with this when their original sub was set to expire.

I wonder if adding a month or so would do anything other than just give you another month, like maybe reset and fix the glitch or something.

So instead of waiting around for something to be fixed that may not be fixed any time soon, I decided to conduct some experiments:

• I tried to redeem a 1 month GP code to see if I could add some time to my GPU. This ended up burning the code and not giving me any time.
• I tried to redeem a 3 month GPU code from bestbuy.com that only works for new members. This looked like it was working until the very last step where it said that the code is only good for new members. I was disappointed but not entirely surprised.
• I tried to redeem a 3 month GPU code from target.com (that doesn't have the new member restriction) and that extended my GPU from 4/1/23 to 7/1/23.

Right now I can play GP games (PC and console) and continue turning in GP quest rewards and I have access to MP sections of games again. Hopefully this was a fix and not me just kicking the can down the road for 3 months.

Apparently MLB is publishing the Xbox version, which means they are probably free to negotiate distribution as they see fit. A quick search online shows MLB does not publish games, I have a feeling they're listed as publisher and paying for distribution, and Microsoft may be doing the rest.

I don't have any interest in the game, but the whole development is very interesting.

I'm sure MLB really is the publisher as it doesn't take much to be one these days (look at LRG). All you need is a distributor to get stock in stores. A lot of the smaller pubs use COKeM or U&I (Unsigned & Independant).

Kind of funny though how MLB made them put this on Xbox to keep the license and now it's going to GamePass because MLB can't say no to whatever Microsoft offered.

The other thing I would mention is that the difficulty level helps, you can turn it down to new racer and that should help.

Steel Rats, one of this weekend's Free Play Days games, is pretty decent.  They are also giving it away on Steam until April 4th. 

It reminds me a lot of Trials, but the controls might take some getting used to before they become comfortable.  The file size is relatively small too (6.3 gb), so it's good for a few achievements if you're willing to put in the time to play it.

Yeah, Bingo's going to be completely shut down. Have been working in the Win10 version, but when I loaded the Win8 version, it synced my level and auto-popped the L30 achievement, so I'm hoping once I hit L46 and unlock the final location in Win10, that will sync back to Win8 leaving just playing through the destinations for the final achievement.

For Vs, I'd mostly use Myrrah / Wretch spam. Capture 2 rows of cover, then when the E-hole Ultimate is ready, throw down Myrrah, Wretches and the E-hole to overwhelm an outpost. Once one opponent outpost is gone, I might try to take the other or the leader, but would mostly play defense to win 1-0. I'd use Marcus, Snub and Lancer crew to capture cover. Frag or Ink grenade for area damage. The other 2 slots are Grinder and Fahz, which are used both offensively and defensively. Had also used Cole and Clayton in those slots, particularly when there was a Cole quest or for the Clayton achievement. Opponent area damage attacks would cause me problems. Grenades, Sam (shock grenade), Fahz, Boomers and Nemcysts. If I know my opponent has a Seeder ultimate, would also wait that out before spamming Wretches, or bait it out by putting Myrrah on one side and the Wretches / E-hole on the other.

That had worked well up to a point, cracked Bronze with it, but seemed to hit a wall. I then switched to a tactic that was mentioned in the Pop thread on the Gears forums to abuse the arena. Set down Cole (or Fahz) along the edge of the arena, then place Juvies behind him. If the Juvies catch up to Cole at the narrow space between the edge and a piece of cover, they will get stuck behind him and push him forward much faster than he can normally walk, getting him to the opponent outpost faster and drawing fire from the outpost while the Juvies tear it apart. Onyx Guards and Grenadier to capture cover, Shepherds to deal with enemy Juvies / Wretches, Frag / Ink for AoE damage and Stun Tracker to slow down enemies. That worked for a bit, got me from 2,800 or so to above 3,000, made a couple pushes toward 3,100. But that hit a wall, too.

What ended up getting me over the hump was playing matches in the mid to late afternoon on weekdays. After about 4pm Eastern or so, as people got off work / school, the going got tougher, so I'd wait for the next day. Once I noticed that, I switched back to the Myrrah approach and cracked 3,200 for Gold league. Luckily I was able to sneak some matches during the work day, not sure if you'd be able to do that.

When the season reset yesterday, I just started losing ranked matches. Am down to 2,151 right now. If you lose enough in a row, the game will match you with bots to give you a chance to win. Bots are generally two word accounts, an adjective and noun, no space, with both words capitalized (e.g., GroovyJunior). They also never have the Xbox icon. Once you match with bots, switch to casual so you never rank up to match against people. Someone mentioned on the forums that lasts about 12 hours before some server side matchmaking reset where you'll get people again, but just lose some more ranked to get back to bots. Am a little over 600 Vs wins, so a ways to go for the 1k needed for Seriously, but can probably get there over the next 3+ weeks.

For Horde, I'm doing the standard Brumak speed runs you can find videos of on YouTube. I got Sid to level 6 and he can one-shot the Brumak without needing to take out the arm guns. At level 5, you need to take out the arm guns first. I think he also has problems doing it at level 3 and maybe one of the higher levels. Thunderland is supposed to have a better pin return than Brumak, but I've had trouble getting through that quickly by myself, particularly if I don't have Reyna and Juvies in the starting load out for both sides. I can clear Brumak waves in 35-50 seconds consistently, though sometimes the pin selection leaves me taking a bit more time. While I've had sub-20 second waves in Thunderland when starting with Reyna / Juvies like on YouTube, if I can't get the good start, it turns into multi-minute waves as the storms take out some of my pins and the enemy advances.

Seriously progress is at 67,389. Not sure where I'm at with Horde waves, but will get there. Last weekend I ran a Butcher Horde to check. Killed 5 Butchers and my Seriously progress increased by 7, so I hadn't reached 1k waves yet.

For pins, my general approach has been level up the ones in my regular crews and leave the others alone. I leveled up all my pins after the update before yesterday, since it wasn't clear there would be more. I think I was level 17 when I reached Gold. I am 18 now since I upgraded my regular crew pins after yesterday's update, plus some of the Legendary pins just to put me over. Still have 26 Common / Rare / Epic pins that I could upgrade, plus 1.1 million coins. I haven't worked out if that would get me to player level 20 right now, but I can hold out in case the final updates will help with the pin upgrades. Though if you think the outpost / leader health boosts from leveling up would help you reach Gold, I'd say go for that. I'd upgrade Epic and Legendary ones if you have them, since they're less likely to max out, so little point holding out for a better upgrade return on those.

I currently have 6 level 15 Commons, none of which have enough duplicates to upgrade. I have another 9 at level 14 and many of them have enough duplicates to upgrade to 15, but could reach 16 if they lower the duplicate pins required.

Well it looks like my console wasn't bluffing. Even though I have GPU through 4/1/23, all the messages that mentioned my subscription to GPU would run out on 4/1/21 seem to mean that I can't use it anymore for some reason. I can't play any GP games (PC or Xbox) and I can't access any content that requires Xbox Live Gold (including GwG games). Time to find the right set of options in Support Chat to give me a live person...

EDIT - I still seem to have access to EA Play games and have the option to upgrade to Xbox Game Pass to Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold to Ultimate.

EDIT - Apparently there is an ongoing issue with EA Play that is causing this problem. Maybe we'll see a resolution in the next month or so?

EDIT - Removing and re-adding my account to the console didn't change anything.

Call Microsoft. I had the same issue at the beginning of March. Everything said I was good until March 2022, but I kept getting the 3 days, 2 days, etc remaining and when the day came I couldn't play any GPU or GwG games.

The first person was not helpful. The lady I got second had it solved in 10 mins tops. She cancelled everything out and just reapplied the amount of time needed. My issue was caused from the EA Play conversion. I added a year code the day it converted but it never went through on they system side but showed on the account.

They added that like one update before the ultimate edition came out. I turned it on and made short work of a few of the side bosses I was stuck on.

Finally got back into Cyber Shadow this week and stayed up way too late last night finishing it. That game is awesome, completely in the spirit of what you'd expect from Yacht Club Games (who published and helped bring to market). It's basically if Ninja Gaiden on the NES had modern conveniences, like mid-level check points and permanent power ups. There are some parts in it which had me wanting to pull my hair out, but the retro gamer in me is a masochist so I didn't mind.

If the main game doesn't kick your ass enough, the achievements will if you try to 100% it. Either way, highly recommended.

Not sure what's wrong with the Microsoft Rewards top 10 punch card, but I activated it, green check, I got two achievements in the Master Chief Collection, one last night, one just now, and they aren't registering for the punch. Anyone know what's up?
The only two games I have access to in the list are MCC and State of Decay 2, and I don't have any easy achievements left in that game unfortunately.

Same. Looking at the rewards reddit, apparently it's not tracking for MCC. Other people had luck with Battletoads, I'm going to try it later.

Yeah, there’s sporadic server issues. It’s frustrating because I’m actually having a blast with it. Hopefully things get smoothed out.
