• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Curious to see what happens with this and where they all end up if it's by studio and not all together.

I think WB still owns the MMO I used to play, Asheron's Call, that was shut down a few years back. I know there's a few people that are running their own servers but it would be interesting to see if anything is done in an official capacity, but I know that's likely not to happen. It was made by Turbine which turned into WB Games Boston. It was originally published by Microsoft.

WB split could go a lot of ways. I don't really get the impression that the teams under their banner are particularly connected or reliant on one another, not like Bethesda or Ubisoft.

I would say their only top-tier studio is NetherRealm and maybe Rocksteady. Traveler's Tale/TT Games is pretty consistent at least but Lego is kind of its own beast.

I’m definitely hitting a ramp up in difficulty. Playing a soldier on Insanity. Started off pretty easy where I didn’t have to put much thought into my build or load out. But I just rescued one of the core teammates and now I’m having trouble completing anything else, getting swarmed by husks, etc. Guess I’ll have to go back in and optimize things.

People that pick soldier in mass effect, why? Just genuinely curious. I know bioware said 50% of people pick it, I just never understood.

As for difficulty, reddit seems to think Insanity is easier now except for a few specific fights. Probably has something to do with the combat not being bad anymore.

I’m playing on regular difficulty and not having too much trouble, but garrus in combat is useless, he never sticks to cover and keeps dying even when I tell the squad to regroup. I just need to complete 4 more missions with a turian in my squad for the achievement and then he’s benched.

That is a wonderful little puzzle game. I bought it at $10.49 and really enjoyed my time with it. Nice relaxing 5-6 hour experience.

I’m considering Serious Sam Collection but I think it can go lower.

i'm pretty sure Adept is supposed to be one of the most powerful in ME1, mainly later in the game though. I know singularity is OP.

I happen to agree. I’ve played all of the original titles through a minimum of 3 times each and never once played as a soldier so thought I’d give it a try. Also, I’m playing on insanity from the start rather than starting with a level 50 character like I did in the original, so wanted a less squishy class. Honestly missing the variety of playing a mixed class character, but my survivability is making Insanity much easier I suspect than it otherwise would be.

There are bad opinions and then there is just being wrong dude. Biotics were broken in ME1. Adept and Vanguard were the best classes. This game has been out for 15 years. It is objective at this point. Biotics bypass all protections in 1. Adepts get multiple abilities that CC entire rooms. That krogan that you can face tank with a soldier on insanity? Will never get within 20 feet of you as the adept. You will literally insta-kill enemies that the Mako can die to later on. They hard nerfed biotics in 2 and then kinda brought them back in 3 cause of CDs but in 1 biotics are nuts.

Nah, I enjoyed it when it originally came out but I wouldn’t pay again. Yeah I think it will hit Gamepass, but still not sure I’d play it again.

You can’t kill anyone until chapter 2. The first big bad guy you just have to sneak around and use hiding spots until the coast is clear. It’s going to take you probably 30 minutes before you can get to a spot where you can kill someone. After your first kill it will auto save. But after your second kill reload the checkpoint and kill that guy again

Xbox rewards need to work out the bugs for achievement based checklist. I unlocked 2 very easy achievements in RE8 and went to check the 10,000 pt challange, the daily achievement, and the another one where you need 2 achievements to complete that challenge, none registered what I unlocked.      What a waste of 2 easy achievements.

The frustrations I referenced (no range, poor targeting, absent combo effects, limited mapping) have to do with quality of gameplay in reference to ME2 & 3 and not to other ME1 classes in respect to efficacy on Insanity.

Not really, it is the shareholders of AT&T and Discovery that will own the new company. AT&T will not have any of the new company on their balance sheet. Looks like they just want to focus on telecom.

I am curious if anyone here is holding AT&T and if they are going to sell out of their position because of the spinoff. The dividend will be cut, and you will get shares in the new company but that new company will have a lot of debt.

Thanks for bringing Call of the Sea to my attention. Really enjoying it so far. Maneater is a game I really really want to play as well.

Tried playing Call of the sea, really started to get into it but I can't continue past Chapter 2. It hard crashes my one x during a cutscene. Apparently, this is a known issue and still hasn't been fixed. Ugh.

Currently playing CotS on the One X as well. Just arrived at the start of Chapter 2. Will let you know if the game crashes on me.

Had this happen to me once before with Yakuza 3 on the PS3. Could not pass a certain part in the game. Was a well known bug. Even bought a second copy of the game back in the day praying that it was just a faulty disk. Absolute heart breaker! Burned me off the series.

Wow what an absolutely charming looking game! A nice 5-6 hour game. Seems like perfect gamepass fodder. Very tempted to pick it up at that price though. Made by Hello Games.

I beat that today. It's satisfying, but you'll have more challenge trying to figure out who you're fighting with the wonky camera than the enemies themselves. Also the game is open world, but really all the progression in the game is very tedious with it coming down to "eat this amount of humans/fish" or "destroy this enemy" for really it's whole 14 hours. With that said, it's fun upgrading your shark to become basically a God even with the super tedious gameplay. Also very straight forward 1k achievement by just playing through it without having to worry about missing anything. As for price/Game Pass, it's a Deep Silver release and far more of their Xbox One releases have hit Game Pass compared to those that haven't. Even then unless you're going to play it ASAP, it's a Deep Silver title so it going 75% off of more before the end of the year is also in the realm of possibility.

I’m pretty sure I always picked soldier. I’d have to go back and boot up each game to be certain though. I know I used some biotics and tech like slam and neural shock in 2 and into 3. It may have been vanguard I picked. My last full play through of 1 was at close to 4 years ago but 2 and 3 were more recent. Played The Last Campfire on Apple Arcade. Definitely a good indie.

In other news, not finished but right now firmly have Village at least #2 all time of RE games. Even has surpassed my expectations following the positive reviews. It’s that good IMO.

Any tips for playing The Evil Within? I'm trying to complete the monthly challenge to kill three enemies, but the first bad guy keeps killing me over and over. I would assume that getting three kills isn't that hard, but I might just delete the game if I can't pull off this challenge.

Played DayZ for achievements, and with use of the achievement server it's really easy, except it's really hard, because that game is a dumpster fire. Sometimes some buttons don't work, prompts do or don't show up based on some alien math, and the controls are completely inscrutable. Glad it's done, and appreciate that some one pays enough attention to that game to keep the achievement server going. Didn't want to download it, and the game is too hard to play using xcloud on my phone or laptop, so I was able to use the xbox wireless display app to play the game using xcloud on my tv as if it were on my console, so that was cool.

Looking at Mudrunner American Wilds with some bing points. Has anyone played it on here for some CAG feedback? Looks interesting and could lead to Snowrunner Premium edition when that drops further in price.
 

Also what is with MS pricing of The Surge 1 & 2 base game bundle at $21?  If you buy them separately they are $5 for Surge 1 and $12.50 for Surge 2. We see this every so often with MS and always puzzles me.

I just finished the first real section (of the 4 main sections) and it's an extremely well-made game. I don't know where it will end up in terms of favorites, but it's great.

I am disappointed though

that Vampire Lady is defeated so early in the game. She was hyped so much in the previews that I thought she would be the primary antagonist and be developed more. Instead, it really was what you saw in the trailers - 3 daughters, stalking you like Nemesis, then it's over. I'm looking forward to seeing what else the game has in store, but I had thought her castle would be much bigger and that sequence more central.

Oh well.

The first few areas of that game require stealth so approach from behind while crouch walking.When close enough you should get a Y or A prompt to perform a stealth kill.

I'd recommend skipping Mudrunner and going straight to the much improved Snowrunner.

Mudrunner feels like an alpha test for Snowrunner; not necessarily bad, but very much incomplete.

Both are tough learning curves and slow starting simulation games but damn am I addicted to some Snowrunner. It's my go to "knock out a mission or two" game when I got a bit of extra time.

That said, if Mudrunner is a must play for you, do it before Snowrunner because I don't think it would be an easy step back.

I bailed on this game pretty early on. Thought I was missing out on something as people here on CAG and elsewhere at the time were liking the game. I found it way too hard/annoying.

Playing on Hardcore, so far I think ME1 is easier. Between the rebalanced leveling giving a ton of skill points and the fully usable weapons on all classes it's a lot easier.

The only thing that has been noticably harder is the updated Thresher Maws. New abilities and better AI.
