• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

How did you manage navigating back? I had shark control but no camera control...from inside the shark the camera stayed facing the same direction no matter which way I turned.

Not easily. Like you said it does not control properly once the camera is inside the shark. When I realized this was going to happen I made sure I knew the quickest way back and also I tried to eat all of the predatory fish around. A few times I was lucky and was right near my home base, other times I had other sharks attacking me and was just a pain. I would use the lunge forward attack you have a lot to move myself I think.

I'm coming here to see if you guys can help. When I am playing Xbox 360 games on the XB1 or 360 my account logs out and tells me I have an authentication error. Playing XB1 games is no issue. Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this?

I had this happen several months ago with my account as well. It did occur when I applied two factor authentication, but the Microsoft Representative said it could happen for other reasons (they didn't elaborate). Essentially, the Xbox 360 isn't setup for two factor, so the password sign-in doesn't work, as it is looking for extra information. Passwords on the 360 can only be so many characters, but when logging in with two factor, it adds extra characters that confuses the 360.

Don't worry, if you contact support and explain to them the issue, they can reset it on their end to allow you access. It's fairly easy, but you just need to tell them the code and issue. You'll want to be near both systems (I have both the 360 and One on the same TV, so swapping inputs was what I did). I think you had to delete both accounts and redownload while the representative resets on their end, then they give you a password to input on both and you should be able to play on both again with your 360 library.

I believe I called them about this, but you could probably just chat online with support for this problem.

I had to reset my information recently, but haven't had to use my 360 again. I can try it tonight and let you know if changing any of my password setting has triggered this again.

FC Blood Dragon is $2.25 on Xbone but $4.50 through the 360. FC3 (360) is $3 on Xbone but $6 on 360. I can confirm buying FC3 (360) on the Xbone store also means you own it on the 360 store. This may not matter to anyone because of the FC3 remaster being the same price and the incoming Blood Dragon remaster, but I'm just happy to retire my FC3 disc.
FC Classic is also $2 on Xbone vs $3 on 360.

I just went through the contact us link on the Xbox rewards site.
I have done this a few times when the punch card has screwed me over and they eventually give me the points.
For the punch card a month or two ago I did this. They sent an email to tell them the games I purchased with the order ID (might be called something else). It does take a while sometimes for them to answer back.

Typically, it's only base games that are included, at least where games like Forza are concerned. Gears 5 did launch with an ultimate edition for GPU, and the MCC included DLC like Reach, but other games (FH4, Halo Wars 2, etc) have only had the base game and they are probably hoping players will want to purchase DLC at a discount.

I don't expect FH5 to include any car passes or DLC given the licensing deals involved.

I was just gifted the razer kraken x headset. This is the first headset I've had for Xbox, normally just use the regular chat headsets. I'm having some issues and was wondering if anyone could help.

If I plug them directly into my controller I get no sound. They came with a splitter cable to separate the mic from the sound. When I use that I can get sound, but it doesn't get very loud. And I'm assuming that means I will not be able to use the mic for chat.

Is there something I'm missing to be able to use them for both chat & sound. And any way to make them get a little louder?

I know that steam got inundated with crappy shovelware "indie" games when they started their online platform. I'm not sure what the quality control is over at Microsoft front.

The timing seems almost ironic but I just came across an article in my timeline this morning that states that people care more about quantity over quality. Given how Sony keeps holding on to the ideology that gamers want quality games, it's actually MS strategy of quantity over quality that is proving to be the more successful strategy and making waves in the industry. Will be Interesting to see how this plays out in the years to come.

Edit: The Falconeer was also made by just one developer. Just goes to show you what is possible.

First of all Tunic is great.

At least we are getting FREE demos to check them out instead of learning the hard way after buying them. Just played trigger witch, and while I liked it, it’s just a less polished enter the gungeon. So I’ll stick to finishing Gungeon first. Sable looked neat, but the game crashes every time I finish the hover bike tutorial and hop off the bike. Thankfully most of these games come to game pass so big whoop if they suck. Just move on to the next 1000 games available that we don’t have time to play anyway.

At the very least, MS seems to have a more curated list of smaller / indie games compared to other platforms, and I love that Game Pass is allowing more indie games to find an audience. Overpriced or not, games will rise and fall on whether or not they are good. Hades is considered indie and was GOTY last year in many publications.

The Switch gets so much shovelware every week it's hard to figure out what's worth your time, and the list of games on sale as a result is impossible to skim easily unless you already have a wish list or have been recommended games from another source.

The article you linked to is just an opinionated piece. There is no information or data at all to support their claim. It is just like reading a person blog post. It is really weird to claim that Microsoft games are predictable and unimaginative and that quality doesn't matter when they spent billions to improve their first party lineup. If it is just quantity that they are after they would have just purchase a whole bunch of small or indies developers.

Just wanted to point out that I was referring to gaming in general, not just Xbox. The Switch is almost becoming Wii 2.0 as its almost entirely great first party games and crap indies. I haven’t bought a game on the eshop in years as a result.

I rarely download “indie showcase” demos or whatever they’re called on Xbox, mostly because they get permanently added to your game library and you have to manually hide each one if you don’t want them cluttering up your collection.

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not inherently an “indie” fan and will usually only pay attention to something if it gets enough hype to reach a point where large numbers of people are talking about it. Even then, I’m AAA all day over most of the indie games that come out. Thinking back to indie titles that received huge amounts of praise … Braid, Journey, just to name a few … mostly ended up hating them. Stardew Valley is one of the few in that overall genre that I’ll give props to.

As a software developer, I suggest you actually try making your own games. You'll be able to appreciate how complex designing an entirely new and original game can be, and you'll also understand how competitive the indie game development market is.

The Xbox side of the store is good at filtering out shit indies (that aren't free) but the Win 10 side is not at all, and sometimes that leaks into the Xbox side if the game ends up being Play Anywhere.

Personally, many of my favorite games this past gen have been indie games. I also end up playing more indie games on GP than aaa stuff.

If anything it's the aaa experience which has lowered it's quality, imo, becoming quite repetitive and stail. I feel there's more diversity in design, pace and mechanics with indie games, being that indie devs are probably more willing to take risks in order to stand out.

To me it feels like your saying “If we didn’t have these indies we currently have, we’d have better ones, if we only band together and none of us buy them”

I don’t think that’s true however. To me, having thousands of indies I don’t want to play to potentially get 10 I do want to play over the generation of a consoles life seems a small price to pay. I think the alternative is you have the Nintendo 64 with only hundreds of games because very few companies can afford the price of making a game for your console.

I don’t think any indie game is taking away from other games being developed, quite the opposite rather. Developing games is so time consuming and expensive, I think without indies, newer consoles would have very few games at all. So many of the 90’s and early 2000’s game studios have shuttered, it’s not an easy industry to make money in. Just look how many studios are eager to have Microsoft buy them out to soften the blow when a game flops. One bad game can mean the end of a mid sized studio. Indies exist sometimes because ppl are willing to make no money and work a day job for months or years to turn out 1 game and hope people like it.

I think it’s perfectly acceptable to dislike any game, but I disagree with the “we’ve lowered our standards” bit. The indies that make it big usually find a niche audience that enjoys it, but not all of them are going to be break out successes just like how so many AAA games flop.

Before Gamepass I used to get annoyed when our games with gold were a crappy indie that they would claim was $25 of value but now that Gamepass is around, that bothers me less. Microsoft’s commitment to backwards compatibility makes it so I have so many games to play it’s hard to be upset with any indies that come out.

Even if it is Dead Space it’ll just be a remaster like ME. Everyone knows EA can’t make new creative SP games/IPs the last two gens (Respawn games being the one exception that comes to mind).

I Mean, the ending of DS3 also felt pretty damn definitive. With that said, I'll gladly take a prettified version of it in 4K on EA Play.

Those games have aged incredibly well, though. The art style and direction are still going to look great in another 10 years, but if they want to give it the Legendary treatment and announce a 4th entry the same way they did with Mass Effect, well then they can shut up, take my money, etc. because I preorder it as quickly as possible.

Series X MK11 owners, do I need to install both the "Story" and "4K Story" add-ons, or just one?

I don't know this for sure, but I'm assuming the difference is the resolution of the cinematic videos and you would only need one or the other.

I really want "Dragon Age Legendary Edition" now, but I'd happily take a Dead Space remaster too.
