• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Apparently the guy teasing the resurrected EA title made some sort of "dead" reference so it probably is Dead Space. I would expect the Mass Effect treatment as it is similarly only available on current gen through BC.
I don't know how to feel about a new Dead Space given Visceral's shuttering though. Could easily end up being another Andromeda, as Motive doesn't have much of a track record outside of Squadrons and the similar space combat in Battlefront 2.

I really want "Dragon Age Legendary Edition" now, but I'd happily take a Dead Space remaster too.

I'd prefer Dead Space if only because DA2 sucks (but so does DS3) and Inquisition doesn't need the remaster as badly.

The Xbox side of the store is good at filtering out shit indies (that aren't free) but the Win 10 side is not at all, and sometimes that leaks into the Xbox side if the game ends up being Play Anywhere.

These trash indie games are the worst, they are up( down) there with the quality of indie release on Xbox 360. They don't have achievements, some of them straight up don't work up and won't get passed the title screen, they want your info and in the case of something like Lava Hero, straight up steals assets found in popular videogames (in this case Metroid). I really can't believe these things are on the marketplace.

Those games have aged incredibly well, though. The art style and direction are still going to look great in another 10 years, but if they want to give it the Legendary treatment and announce a 4th entry the same way they did with Mass Effect, well then they can shut up, take my money, etc. because I preorder it as quickly as possible.

I loved all 3 Dead Space games so I'll take a remaster as an excuse to play them again.

I think your internet speed is being measured in Mb (lower case, meaning megabits) per second and I'm pretty sure storage is in MB (upper case, megabytes) per second. 8x Mb = 1 MB. I don't know what storage you're talking about but most SSDs these days write well above 400/500 MBps. I think fiber is capable of 1 Gbps, which is 125 MBps (1G = 1000 Mbps / 8 = 125 MBps).

Also, even if your interest is capable of 1 Gbps, that's only true if the host you're downloading from is capable of providing said capacity.

EDIT* should add I'm not a tech expert, but I ran into this bit vs byte issue over a decade ago when we used to host stuff/share stuff on our college intranet file sharing network, so I might not be the most accurate here/outdated.

Pretty sure it is your internet connection that is limiting your download speeds, not your hard drive.

Not just the Internet connection, the gigabit port on the Series consoles (max 1 Gbps ~= 120 MB/sec) is far slower than the internal SSD (2400 MB/sec). If you use wireless it will be even slower. I have seen upwards of 500 Mbps download speed on my wired Series X on gigabit FIOS, which is pretty decent.

I completely agree with both of you. I think part of the reason I was so hungry to snatch up ME:LE was precisely because of the dearth of good, original single player stories so far this year. Pretty sure my GOTY at this point (besides ME) is MLB The Show… lol. I would easily pay full price - punch card for a DS remaster if they give it the same care they gave to ME.

Edit: Only question would be what control scheme they optimize it to, since the three games are not all the same speed. Might be hard to adjust things as much as they did with ME 1.

Despite being told on two separate occasions by two separate chat reps that if my credit expired all I’d have to do is contact them and I could get it back, I was denied. They did not tell me right away, but emailed me this morning saying they escalated it to their supervisor and “ there is no other option reactivated your Microsoft Balance/credits since it was already totally expired.”

$85 gone.

Dont give up! Unless you tried to use the credit the day it expired or the day before it was suppose to expire, you should call and try again.

That sucks. From my recent experience with Microsoft customer support, they are 100% useless when it comes to anything related to rewards credit/balance. I tried to buy Mass Effect with credit - the order didn't go through, but all of my credit was used. I was able to get $60 in codes from @MicrosoftStore on Twitter after DMing them and telling them how bad my experience with customer support was and how all of my cases were closed without receiving any help.

Just to check, since I recently updated my security information, I tried logging in on both consoles again. Mass Effect 3's backwards compatibility worked fine on Xbox One, but I was blocked from the Xbox 360. To log in on that I had to use the App Password. You can find that on your Microsoft account. Log in to your Microsoft Account online, go to Security, then down to the App Password section, and hit Create New Password. Use that code to sign in to your 360.

It’s a great game. Does have similarities to Hades. Lacks the story but makes up for it with combat that may even be a bit better.

Dark Alliance reviews definitely are all over - from 4 on IGN to 9 on True Achievements. I played a bit and am finding it to be exactly what I expected it to be - fairly mindless hack n slash. But the combat is enjoyable and I’m having fun enough so far. Playing solo and it seems manageable even though I’ve read it’s supposed to be a lot more difficult. Anyway, solid 7 from me based on what I’ve played.
