  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Totally agree. Gamepass has knocked it out of the park this year. I played a bit of Psychonauts 2 for the punchcard and was immediately brought back to when the game first came out. I’ve mostly been working on some of games that have been on GP for a while. Like Genesis Noir, Yes, Your Grace, Call to the Sea and Donut County, the shorter titles have been the best experiences. I’ll hop back onto Psychonauts 2 after I finish up one or two more games.

Totally off-topic, but I need to rant about Amazon for a minute.
So last month, I placed an order on a low stock or out of stock item, so it understandably gave me a ridiculous month away delivery estimate with a 10 day window. Kept checking on it every so often hoping it would come back in stock, and last week or so noticed it was. So since it was back in stock, I assumed my estimate would update and it would ship ASAP, but the status would not change from "Preparing for delivery". Meanwhile, I could put the item in my cart and get it in two days.. But I thought, maybe it's just not updating on my order page and it'll be here day one of the delivery window anyway. Well, today's day one, no item. Contacted Amazon support and they said some bs about the delivery having issues and it'd be here by the last day of the estimate (September 24th). I told them while that explained why my order had a long delay originally, it didn't explain why new orders would receive the item noticeably ahead of me. Their only response was "Oh, we'll make sure to escalate it to the proper department so it doesn't happen again" (a lie, I'm sure). I would just cancel the order but I paid for some of it with a credit that has surely expired by now, and I am no longer a Prime member (I was one when I placed the order) so now I'm just stuck waiting, I guess. It's obvious that Amazon, in their infinite cost-saving, places no priority on when items are ordered, just estimated shipping windows, so because mine was so wide and down the line, they bent me over a barrel. I've gotten absolutely no help from their support on issues twice in a row now, and I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with the change in leadership.

So in regards to the first issue they did nothing to help with, it was the lack of them providing a preorder bonus. Long story, but Amazon blamed the publisher for not providing codes and the publisher blamed Amazon. I still think it's ultimately the publisher who is to blame for not sorting it out, but given that all other retailers EVENTUALLY got codes, I assume Amazon didn't follow procedure or even care enough to investigate. Frustrated by both of the parties' apathy, I wrote a 1-star review summarizing the situation (which is why it received 1-star) and surprise, Amazon blocked the review. Their reasoning was "reviews are not about the seller" but if you've ever read an Amazon review section, you know that is absolutely not true. So obviously, it was flagged for mentioning Amazon's role in the kerfuffle.

Amazon's customer service has been trash for awhile now so definitely not due to leadership changes. I didn't get my ore order bonus for tales of arise and they won't do anything about it. I have had issues with ore order bonuses with Amazon in the past and usually it eventually shows up but doesn't seem to be the case here. I've just started buying games elsewhere unless I get some free discounts on Amazon.

Their lack of interest in taking care of gamer customers is somewhat ironic given their push of a new gaming platform/marketplace (Luna). Just another case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing, I guess.

I feel the opposite. Easily my least favorite year out of the last 5. I make a top twenty games list at the end of each year out of the 80+ games I play that year and I barely have 6 or 7 games so far that I would feel comfortable putting as a favorite. Hopefully some good stuff hits in these last few months.
 
Amazon is trash these days.  Customer service is horrible.  Prime shipping no longer means two day shipping in most cases.  Their selection is principally comprised of no name generic junk you would find on eBay or Wish.

Really enjoyed Ikenfell although it's quite lengthy.

Drake's Hollow entered Gamepass as early access if I'm not mistaken, never even knew that it came out of early access and now it's leaving. Looks like a fun game to be fair.

 
Seeing that Battlefield update makes me sad. Not because the game is delayed, but seeing Criterion listed on there as a Battlefield support studio.

Returnal was my GOTY followed by Death's Door and Ratchet and Clank plus I just got Deathloop and I can't wait to try this one and see where it ranks since it is getting such high praise.

Plus some of the great indie games I played this year with Gamepass like The Wild at Heart, Narita Boy, Cyber Shadow, Omno, Rain on your Parade and Call of the Sea. There are many more coming that I'm looking forward too as well.

Agree with this too. There’s too many good games for me. Death’s Door, Psychonauts 2 and Deathloop are at the very top of my list but so many other fantastic titles including R&C, Returnal and Tales of Arise just to name a few.

I put Deathloop in the top already because I’m going to have trouble getting back to Tales after starting this. I wasn’t even excited about Deathloop but it has blown me away. Incredibly addictive gameplay cycle, wonderful writing, combat and stealth. I think it’s Arkane’s best game yet and that’s no small feat. You guys are in for a treat next year if you can’t play it on PS5. The dev will be a gem in Microsoft’s exclusive arsenal going forward.

I am incredibly doubtful that at this point it'll ever appear on consoles. Will be playable on steam deck however!
 
Bought 2k but if these games are gonna go up in price I feel the rewards should go up too.

Anyway can’t wait to try battlefield. Also bought watch dogs legion gold for $20

What’s fallout worlds about is it an expansion to 76 or is it mostly to promote fallout 1st I see they give a free month of fallout 1st in the perks.
 
Season 8 is the final season for Master Chief Collection. They are shifting to a more traditional "release feature when ready" model, with nothing on the horizon until next year. The main features actively in development are PC focused stuff and modding support, though expanding the customs browser beyond Reach is on board.

The one major thing that needs to happen is making a new way to earn unlock points as these only come from weekly and seasonal challenges once you level up high enough.

It is a bit disappointing if only because they had implied they were shooting for 10 before, but the large amount of content and features being added to old games was great.

I am a bit surprised that Halo 4 never really got a dedicated season like the other games. Spartan Ops is left as a fairly large chunk of content that is near unplayable due to lack of matchmaking. I also expected 343 to have some cut content or features in the attic since it was their own game.

They do only briefly touch on it but obviously it's getting cut down now for Infinite. I kind of doubt MCC was in the exact same pipeline of support for a game delayed a year and nearing launch, outside of maybe testing. The actual devs have been said to largely be seperate, aside from some poaching somewhat recently.

This just shows that Infinite is not in a great place if they need to completely tap even the MCC resources..
Definitely imagine that one of the two remaining seasons would have been Halo 4 focused (saved for last because it is unsurprisingly the least popular).
I just hope they fix that damn broken achievement.

I was browsing the sale on my console and noticed something weird and concerning. Halo MCC is showing as “buy to own” even though I redeemed a digital code for it back in 2016. I’ve definitely played it, so it’s not like I bought the code and forgot to redeem it. Even more concerning is that I went through my purchase history on the web and it doesn’t show up there. I have the purchase email from cdkeys, but that’s all I’ve got to back me up. I really want to know why MS doesn’t show that I own it anymore

This happened to me. I believe the current Halo MCC includes Halo 2 Anniversary (I believe previous Halo MCC owners also got this in the update) which essentially changed the content so it is different from the original release of Halo MCC. MS is too lazy to use a different title to accommodate the additional content. My code redemption from CDKeys does show up in my purchase history, though. You should be ok, or at least that's what MS support told me when I contacted them regarding this.

There's two versions of MCC.
The OG one that has 1 - 4 and the new one that also includes Reach & ODST.
You most likely bought a code for the OG one, as Reach & ODST came years after the original release.

The campaign (and content like the Black Panther campaign) is good and fun to play. The online multiplayer is an incredible grind and seriously repetitive. Are you going to be happy with about 10-20 hours of single player content of an fairly above average loot/adventure and be ok with putting it down afterwards? Honestly there are plenty of much better games available these days at a similar price point. If your backlog is empty and you love Marvel, you might enjoy it.

Worst case, I'm betting it hits $10 (or less) for Black Friday. You could get it then.

It's an expansion but doesn't really add anything. This update removed Nuclear Winter the pvp mode that was a fortnite type battle royale that never made it out of beta and hadn't been updated in the last year.

They added a new mode for 1st subscribers called custom worlds that offer some light modding/settings changes, but this mode does not offer any progress towards the main game (can't keep items, xp, mission progress when you switch back to adventure). It's basically a sandbox mess around version that might be fun for some but has been fairly universally panned for the lack of progress in a grinding game.

They are offering a free trial taste of these custom worlds to trick people into subscribing. There are public worlds that will rotate out every few weeks or months maybe, where they offer some unique custom settings that you can play without the 1st sub, but once again there is no progress on this mode once they switch to a new world.

The base game adventure mode didn't get anything new added in this update, besides the endless season content grind of daily chores. The other 1st only mode is still private world that is basically so you can play solo if you want.

Nothing drastic but still halfway worth playing through the story once if you like fallout games.

I haven't bought a game on steam or played on steam in probably 10 years. I reactivated my steam account and I bought Black Mesa for $5 and played it for about an hour yesterday on my laptop and its amazing. I'm going to try a play a little bit here and there and finish it.

I'm a huge fan of Half-Life its one of my all time favorite games. It's actually one of the very few games I have played on PC as I have always just preferred playing on consoles. This remaster is excellent and surprising was able to run fine on my laptop on medium settings. I really hope that one day this might get a console port but if you are a fan this one is worth the $5 to play on a PC.

It would have been the og version. I even bought the ODST add-on. Has that version been delisted? I actually remember seeing both in the store at one point and now I don’t

Whatever your preference is, I think we can all agree that "Invert X-axis" is dumb and can be removed from every game.

Going after him just over behind the scenes shit he posts on YouTube is expected pettiness from Bungie but Marty shouldn't have posted stuff for sale on Bandcamp, even if it was PWYW.

I'm not privy to all the details of the original lawsuit, but basically since he was working for Bungie and creating his art for Bungie ALL of that is Bungie's IP and they can do with it as they please. I was sympathetic for him because of the messy firing from the studio, but he's brought all this nonsense on himself.

I caved and bought it earlier today, downloaded it but haven't played yet. I never finished the OG one but started multiple times - it just takes me back to being a kid again playing that demo over and over.

At least you have lessoned my buyers remorse - I know the odds of me actually finishing this thing are slim but I figure I can get my $5 worth out of it
