Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Since I'm still on the fence about plunking down $50 for the Assassin's Creed Legacy Collection before it goes off sale, I thought I would finally try out Assassin's Creed Unity since it's one of the included games.  

I paid 89 cents for it on CDKeys last year, and I'm bored to tears.  Hoping it gets better, but I might have just saved myself $50.

Yeah, I had to as well with my CX. 120Hz DV support has been in beta for the CX for several months so it should be released soon hopefully.

I just went back to 120 for now. There aren’t really enough games supporting DV yet anyway.

I have a CX. DV was working with MLB The Show 21. I have the Series X set at 60. I was able to play Ori and the Will of the Wisps at 120 FPS by changing the settings in the in game options. I don't know if DV works with it as I beat Ori before I checked the DV settings on my Series X. I will set my Series X to 120 and see if I get DV still with The Show.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm going to give Unity a bit more of a shot. I figure for the 89 cents that I spent on it, I'll get my money's worth. Since Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition will be leaving Game Pass soon, and I haven't made much more than a dent in it, I spent $10 on that one.

Totally agree. I’d recommend buying Gold editions of Odyssey and Origins. Syndicate is really fun and worth getting. Unity is beautiful and gameplay was fun but the main story was meh. Black Flag is the best of the pre-Origins games behind the Ezio trilogy.

I have recently played through Gears Judgment with no save issues and played through Gears 3 about a year ago with no issues

2, 3 and Judgment are known for having progress loses. 2 could wipe your Rank progression randomly, with no way to fix it. 3 and Judgment you could work around. If the server lost your information, a way to fix it was to have multiple copies of your save using things like your hard drive, memory or flash drive and/or cloud. So if when the game started and one save was ruined by server misinformation, you could quit the game and copy over the spare save you made to try again.

The issue is on One and Series there is no alternative to Cloud save. If you log in regularly, the odds increase of a stats loss. Did you only play through the campaigns, or were you also playing multi-player as well? I think way back that is what is more likely to cause the loss.

Looking around online, Halo progress loss is also common over years, with 343i never seeming to reply to threads about it. I haven't looked to see if 4 has this issue since I don't have it digitally.

I agree, that game is fantastic. I wish we could get a proper sequel, or an expanded re-release with some extra content.

Honestly, I had more fun with it than Mario Kart 8, mostly because Mario Kart has never evolved beyond the circuit races, online, and battle mode. Sonic Racing Transformed has a wonderful single player mode that has unique challenges, gives you reasons to try out different characters, and has a real sense of progression. Mario Kart 8 still has the most polished gameplay, but Sonic Racing Transformed was more fun.

Some people on reddit were complaining about this as well. I thought it was just something someone doing a seller account had to go through.

I dunno what to say, I added in a $100 today and I didn't have to do any verification.

The only verification I had to do was on the first charge I had to go in my bank app and give them a code they sent on the charge subject, it was like a 4 digit code, from there I have been buying with no extra verifications.

The "Chills Start Here" Halloween Punchcard on the X1 is the same as the one on-line. The Day 1 quiz didn't give me the 50 pts, but gave me 1 pt for completing. The quiz shows up on the X1 but didn't on-line.

Just noticed, the punchcard on X1 gives you 100 pts whereas the one on-line gives you 150. Completing one will complete the other so I would recommend completing it on-line first just in case it doesn't give you both.

Whenever there's new Xbox Game Pass quests with We Happy Few, I get unreasonably upset because I have to redownload the game and play it and it just makes me want to tell Xbox to stop making that game into a thing. It'll never be a thing.

Well, my series x died on me Sunday night while playing the halo infinite test flight. Was about to load a game and the Xbox just shut off and refused to reboot. Couldn’t even get it to load to the Xbox logo screen. Then eventually the fans wouldn’t even spin before it shut off again. Thankfully it’s still under warranty and currently en route to Texas for repairs. Spent $10 to expedite the shipping, so I should have it back in 6-11 business days. Last time I had hardware issues with Xbox was the old RROD on the 360. Anyone else have a series x with a faulty power supply?

gameflip.com has also had me send them pictures of my card and selfie along with a written piece of paper and i've purchased at least 20+ game codes from them without a single issue and i also haven't had any identity theft issues with them either.

I also understand some people aren't comfortable going through those steps to purchase game codes, i just figured that I could just cancel my card and file a claim through my bank if there were to be any issues, and there never were any issues at all, these companies just do this to make sure the actual owner of the card is making these purchases for security reasons.

But everybody has a right to trust/not trust whoever they please for their own peace of mind.

Anyone having issues remote installing from a mobile app? The app keeps crashing when it tries to put the game into queue. Before, the app crashed every other game I tried to install but now it's crashing every time. They should just remove this from the monthly.

update - no issues doing it on my phone but wouldn't work on my tablet.

Dead in less than a year? I would be pissed I bought a $500 doorstop even if it was still under warranty. The warranty is only a year if I'm not mistaken, so you were "lucky" it happened just before the cut-off. Do you think playing software still in beta testing had any effect on it? I know on other consoles, sometimes fans go into overdrive and more heat is generated when playing an intensive game. That's partly why I kept the VCR Xbox One - it's easy to replace an external power supply if that happens to be the issue.

My series x had a failing GPU, it was a pretty painless process thankfully. Also paid the $10 expedited shipping a nd had it back after about 8 days I believe

How did you know it was the GPU?

I think some companies extend your warranty by a couple of months if you have to file a claim within the first year. Did MS do that for you?

I think in general MS also seems to be pretty lenient with free repairs even after a few months following the warranty expires. I had a problem with my X1 that was like 3 months after warranty. Still fixed it free of charge.
