  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

To be fair, the thread has been pretty civil up until about a week ago. I think as far as PS threads go, this one has had a good run.

Wow … once you get to the open world map in the Matrix tech demo … that’s freaking amazing, the level of detail is probably the best I’ve ever seen in a game world … if that’s the future of gaming, I’m all in. It looks almost photo realistic.

Yeah, people are fanboys because they understand that companies have to charge a nominal fee for a new product, and don't mind supporting an already semi-retired franchise when it gets ported to a new platform. Remind me who bundles their highly-sought consoles with crap most people don't want in their email invitations to purchase the system, and attempted to literally double the price of their online subscription service in the middle of a pandemic when thousands of people already lost their jobs before backtracking after a huge backlash? You already forgot about that. Doesn't look great in your argument about being greedy.

The Matrix thing was pretty "woah" if you have the means to eat that 30 gigs I think it's worth it. First part reminded me of my youth and thinking what if these FMV laser disc games had actual gameplay. Ha granted being on rails it's not too far advanced from a Laser Disc game, House of the Dead and Virtua Cop level I suppose. The 2nd part of the demo reminded me of the first demo they showed for Watch Dogs, although this time you could actually play that.

Heard a couple podcasts "singing" it's praises this week, one off the top of my head I remember is the Ex-Giant Bomb guy's new podcast. I hadn't even realized it came out. Might just pull the trigger on it at the $40 price, wonder if it will scratch the "Colony Wars" itch at all. A crime that franchise was left behind.

A week later, he surprises the town by showing up at a trial against the local mafia don believed to be responsible for BDK’s disappearance/murder, and details his escape from the console pile using baking soda, lemon wedges, a discarded energy drink can, and a vacuum cleaner.

I plan on checking it out tonight. It's a good reminder that, as nice as some new games look on current gen, we haven't even scratched the surface in terms of development tools and modern engines that really take advantage of what current gen is capable of.

Never said Microsoft was perfect or isn't greedy, but while you can barely come up with 2 things Microsoft has done, I'd have to write a wall of text on the Sony missteps and greed just over the past couple of years. I'd argue that the strategy behind doubling Gold was to kill the service and push people to Game Pass but the good thing is they listened and backtracked. And Sony trying to push the $70 game price increase and try to fix their first party games price from dropping as well as charging $10 upgrade fees is hardly nominal. Sony has been straight garbage and continue to be like just this week they announced they are killing their rewards program unless you have their lame credit card, a program that already paled in comparison to what Microsoft offers, it's just crazy people still soldier on for this company.

I hope it has better combat than those. It works for a character like Batman but Wonder Woman's strength and general fighting style should mean something meatier. I would prefer something more character-actiony. I would say DMC style but I could only see this team doing that if it mostly has fairly weak enemies, so maybe along the lines of current God of War with a bit more flair would be the best fit.

As for "expect", probably an Arkham/Shadow retread with more Nemesis systems since they patented it. Worst case scenario is another forced 4 player semi-Live game like Arkham and Suicide Squad.

This game is probably three years out with such a nothing trailer.

I think there are some good people on the Sony thread, but I think there are also people that try to stir up stuff also. To be honest, I may have been a bit harsh to a person there recently who was having an issue with their console, but I also tend to be very sarcastic at times.

I do appreciate this site as a place to talk about games and deals and think that (for the most part) we have a pretty nice community here.

As I close in on being 50 years old, all I want to do is enjoy the games that I play and hopefully get some recommendations (and deals) for games that I might like also. I find this is a pretty good site for that type of information.

Totally honest, I barely remember a damn thing about what was shown at Game Awards yesterday and only feel confusion still that It Takes Two got GOTY.

 
It Takes Two is a great game. Wanted Psychonauts 2 to win but am not really that upset with the outcome. Still have Death’s Door as my overall GoTY and was disappointed that it didn’t win anything at all.

IMO, the trailers were mostly CGI/announcements stating that development is still alive and the gameplay ones were kind of meh, except for Suicide Squad.

The awards ceremony felt rushed and too slow at the same time, and GOTY is basically a way for Geoff to award which of his personal friends made his favorite game that year. It Takes Two is a great game, but the entire show, Geoff basically kept pointing out the creator several times in a coy manner and talking about their friendship so he was bound to be the winner in every category it was in.

Once again, just opinion, probably wrong, but that’s how I saw that last night.

TGA: where everything is made up and the fan votes don’t matter!

Isn’t only 10% of the vote from players and 90% by journalists? The only award that is all fans is the Player’s Voice Award and that went to Halo Infinite.

I thought for sure Deathloop was going to win with all the 10s it got from reviews. Then I thought maybe Metroid because of the Nintendo effect. It takes two was a huge surprise but now I'm interested in playing it and it wasn't on my radar at all before.
 
At least on OpenCritic, they were all fairly evenly matched:

RE8 and Psychonauts 2 were both great games, but IMHO not GOTY material. 

In other news, Halo Infinite SP is great and my headcanon is that this is the real sequel to Halo 3. Chief got yeeted into space, drifted awhile, and here we are. Easy.

Yeah this campaign takes me back to Halo 3 feelings. It’s really good. I haven’t stayed up late on a work night for video games in a long time. The “just one more side quest” got me for a solid 2 hours last night.

I’m on a break from Apex for this season of Halo, but once I get to 100 on Halo, if they haven’t fixed Playlists, PC Hackers in Xbox lobbies, and made the season pass stuff more interesting then I’ll probably be back to Apex too.

I learned today that apparently they recruited the original story writer for the first 3 Halo games, Joseph Staten. According to this article, he's the main reason MS was convinced to delay last year:

Staten pulled them out of the fire, but I think the studio needs a shake up going forward. Ideally Staten will stay on, but after 2 or 3 botched games and now Infinite coming in missing a lot of features and tons of annoyances that should have been long solved, I think Bonnie Ross should be replaced. I would say Frankie too, but I believe he has been sent to work on non-game EU material.

RE8 and Psychonauts 2 were both great games, but IMHO not GOTY material.

In other news, Halo Infinite SP is great and my headcanon is that this is the real sequel to Halo 3. Chief got yeeted into space, drifted awhile, and here we are. Easy.

Did you play It Takes Two? It was my GOTY. I liked Psychonauts 2, I loved ITT. ITT hit harder on so many levels, graphically, emotionally and gameplay wise. Psychonauts still deserved an award somewhere though.

Was extremely surprised to see Deathloop nominated for so many categories let alone actually win them. Can't wait to try it when it comes to gamepass. :bouncy:

 
My forza controller charger got in from gamestop amd right as I was gonna cancel thes order it shipped. I'll prolly return one at gamestop later.
 
All this love for It Takes Two. I found it to be slow and cumbersome. Got about an hour and a half in before i retired it. Mucho bleh for me.
