General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Is this supposed to be a joke? If so, the humor doesn’t come through at all.

Also, Mary-Kate and Ashley said they were saddened to hear the news and called him compassionate and generous, so I think your sources are off a bit if it’s not a joke. Maybe pick some better news sites.

Looks like Shadow Man Remastered is hitting this week, TA picked up on the achievements.  Supposed to be Thursday for PS4 and next Monday for Switch.  No official word yet for Xbox.

The end of Dexter was fine, but unfortunately it was the most predictable ending possible. It should've been 12 episodes like the other seasons to wrap things up without rushing everything at the end.

The ketamine retcon was very sloppy writing though.

This better be the end of the show. Nobody wants a Harrison show.

Im still unclear about how 
how/when Harrison/Audry and Dexter/Chief Bishop all got back together in their respective relationships to make this ending work. I thought Harrison got dumped for being a psycho and breaking that kids arm. Could have sworn Dexter's relationship was on the rocks as well.

It did seemed rushed and suffered from it as well as some bad retconning.

They filmed Hawkeye early last year but waited to air it because of it's Christmas theme. Hailee Steinfeld was also on 2 shows at once because of this (the final season of Dickinson).

1883 aired a making of special in week 3 instead of episode 4 because of the New Year and because the show is still in the middle of filming. Yellowstone was actually pushed outside of its usual Summer air date so they could premiere the first 2 episodes Kingstown and 1883 on the channel after it before moving them exclusively to Paramount+.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is 90% off, think that's a new low for the big expansion.

Jump Force Character Pack 2 is 75% off, first it's been on sale during the delisting sales as far as I've noticed.
 
Anyone else have an issue with FH5 daily challenge today?  Mine didn't seem to go live today.   I didn't play this morning.   Came home for work and figured I could knock it out before dinner.  Its showing 5/7 completed.  I think the Audi Forzathon was the last one I did on Sunday.  

One of my game restarts it popped up and said Season 3 has started.  Which is not true.

Yeah, I saw they aired a making of instead, but odd that they'd skip New Years and not Christmas as well, particularly since Yellowstone didn't skip any weeks (unless something about Yellowstone's season finale might've spoiled something for 1883's episode). The 3rd episode of 1883 has also aired on Paramount / CMT (my channel guide shows episode 3 airing again on CMT on Friday). Since the 4th episode just released, probably too early to know if it might also air on regular cable, but 3 episodes should be enough to whet people's appetite for a streaming exclusive without getting (too many) people griping about paying for the service.

Finally I can pull the trigger on War of the Chosen. I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition cheap from GameStop eons ago and this will complete my collection of the content for Xcom 2 (minus the Resistance Warrior pack, which is on sale for $1.99). Now to wait for the highly unlikely FPS boost or Series X version before I can actually consider playing the game.

If they aren't careful they'll accidentally air the full series of 1883 on TV so it won't be necessary to have Paramount+. That being said, Paramount+ still has lots of good content.

 
According to Major Nelson, the DLCs on sale (or at least a large batch of them) will be on sale for 2 weeks, calling it a countdown. Wonder if this strategy works against them, since people might have skipped on a game during the original countdown if they couldn't get discounted DLC at the same time. (I don't think this is the first time they've done this.)

Curious what the initial reaction was when CBS ran Star Trek Discovery when a lot of production shut down shows early in the pandemic and they wanted stuff to air. HBO Max has a number of their series set up to run on TNT and/or TBS (Love Life, Flight Attendant, some other series).

Not sure what that would mean, since I'm pretty sure my dad watched Sons of Anarchy, too. Or maybe that was Justified. Also curious what made Yellowstone catch on this past year. Looks like the viewership doubled, if not tripled, from the prior season. Even jumped through some wording hoops in the commercials, most watched show on TV with qualifiers to exclude the NFL and maybe Jeopardy.

 
Doing some spring cleaning on my Xbox before I move the external to the Series X, discovering that there is quite the graveyard of apps. Halo Channel just refuses to boot. It's a crime that they haven't put together a proper Halo Waypoint app for Xbox in all these years.

Priority currently is getting BTB matchmaking into a functional state, as well as vague anti-cheat measures. Both planned for February.

That's it. They're figuring out their plans and priorities going forward, as well as a roadmap to "answer questions and manage expectations".

This sounds bad to me for a live service game. No mention of desync issues, balance changes, upcoming content, store changes, progression/challenge changes. Guess they're lucky Battlefield shit the bed and CoD had no fanfare this year.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Master Chief collection already have a lot of those things? I know the simultaneous launch on PC complicates matters since cheaters have more options on PC, but these all feel like pretty basic oversights in this day and age, especially for a game that was in development for 6 years and had a well regarded prior entry in the series.

To be fair, it sounds like BTB has big issues and it’s appears to be what players seem to want fixed the most. So they seem to be putting priority on what they’re being asked by the community the most.

Honestly, especially compared to Battlefield’s managers, the Halo devs seem to be really responsive to player opinions. Battlefield is doing the opposite in many cases.

I think 343 is getting more crap than they deserve. Just my opinion.

I wonder if they just underestimated the amount of people needed to maintain a live service game after launch. Iirc, Infinite employed a lot of contractors, so with them gone and enough 343 staff put on other projects and stuff like Forge and Co-Op for Infinite, I could see them being left with a skeleton crew for everything else.
Co-op and Forge being released in the middle of the year was already a red flag regarding team size.
I'm grateful that the current model is pretty generous regarding time to unlock stuff in Season 1 but I imagine that's more because they can't put out a sufficient amount of content for more seasons fast enough.

Yes, the specific matchmaking issue BTB had been having for about a month now do mirror the MCC issues, though it's odd that it's only one playlists. Presumably something to do with team size I would guess. Beyond that they haven't addressed the fact that the squad system in that most is completely busted, you just aren't put into a Fireteam with your friends most of the time.

Overall the higher ups at the top of the studio haven't changed since the studio opened, Bonnie Ross coming to mind most prominently. I think they're just really bad at team or project management, and the contractor set up is clearly a negative for most Microsoft devs.

The way things are going, I actually think it needed another full year delay first them to hit what I would call feature complete on a Halo game.

Generous time to unlock stuff is kind of pointless in this case. Since they went the route of having battle passes be both permanently available for purchase and with no expiration date, having an extended season could very well mean the update cadence will remain glacier slow for the people that this model appeals to. Forge would have been the answer here and I can't believe they didn't prioritize it during the year delay.

As an aside, I'm glad the defense force seems to have quieted down some now that we're 2 months in with minimal changes and non-detailed communication. Bare minimum I'm surprised 343 aren't hyping up a new map or something yet.
 
I Enjoy how Dying Light 2 had to correct itself after they announced to fully complete their game it'll take 500 hours and everyone responded with "Ain't no one got time for that" and they had to say the story campaign itself is about 20 hours and about 100 hours for side quests and such and 500 for multiple playthroughs for all endings.

To be fair, I bought one of the original Overwatch Lego sets and the design is poor compared to other licensed properties, so not much of a loss, especially since I’m starting to doubt that Overwatch 2 ever actually comes out.
 
I've been more disconnected from the toy scene more recently, but I don't think the Overwatch line was a hot seller for Lego to begin with. Wouldn't be surprised if that played a part here. Kind of doubt the delays matter that much in this case, other than no big marketing push to jump in.

Lego has a history of being pretty hardcore about both their image and who they associate with. Only thing that is kind of off is that this took a while after other companies bailed on Blizzard, but maybe it's just because that set was only announced last month.
 
I feel like Lego’s level of commitment to a property is shown in how many unique pieces they are willing to make for a property. The Overwatch set I have, I don’t remember any new unique pieces made from a new mold. I even remember being a bit disappointed that the guns included looked like something I could have made with random bricks. I was hoping to see some unique molds made just for Overwatch.
 
Overwatch was just a weird choice for Lego to begin with. I don't really think about the maps or vehicles from that universe, mostly just the core characters and maybe Omnics. Action figures, statues, even Nerf replicas make more sense to me.
 
I realized last night my weekly quest in FH5 was no longer completed even though I did it the first day. Guess I'll do it again for more points? I still have the Lexus.
