• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I don’t think it’s possible for MS to buy a Japanese studio. The Japanese government will block (or attempt to hinder) any foreign acquisition.

Microsoft bought Tango Gameworks as part of the Bethesda deal. They did exist as before Bethesda bought them as well.

Sega is a lot bigger and has their foot in non-gaming industries so who knows how that would affect things. Technically Sega also started as US company. You might have to dig but they were founded in the States and eventually shifted to Japanese ownership and headquarters.

We haven't really talked about it but Battlefield 2042 has been on fire since launch. They just put out a loose roadmap today announcing the addition of a real scoreboard at the end of next month, and VOICE CHAT is now "on the radar" with no date. Their first season is two months out still if that's on track.

I was thinking more on this purchase this morning. If I think small brain style on the past Sony vs Nintendo vs Microsoft, then I feel like, oh Activision should stay independent and make games for all 3 companies. However, if I think big brain style looking forward at the Microsoft vs Google vs Amazon vs Apple, of those 4 giants, if Activision was looking for a buyer… I’m glad it was Microsoft and not any of the other 3. Microsoft is the only one offering cloud gaming and traditional gaming of the giants trying to penetrate the future of gaming.

Phil has already said this, we're fighting for the Metaverse or something. Sony and Nintendo are great competitors and they will continue to make great games for their systems. These moves aren't about beating Sony, Nintendo who plays on it's own field, it's about Facebook, Google, Amazon, Tencent. Although maybe Sony should have let Spiderman on The Avengers.... thankfully nothing of value was lost. 

Death's Door was worth the $15, but man is there ever a trend now where these games I bought 3-6 months ago now getting Gamepass dates.

For what it's worth, I had previously completed all of them. I got no notification it checked off even after I finished. I was thinking yep this thing farked me, I went back into the Festival Playlist and it was done. I'll figure out what one I did in a second.

edit: I did the Baja Expedition where you drive the Ford "Hoonigan" up to the volcano, skipped the extra side quests went straight to driving the other thing down the hill.

Haven't seen this but what a dumb choice if true. I don't think Facebook has any internal game dev teams, and virtually none of Activision's properties make any sense for VR more than the "this setting would be cool" that almost every game has. Sony or maybe one of the other giant publishers would have made more sense for a counter offer.

I think the reason behind this was more of the mobile empire side of things with Candy Crush and the like. There’s a lot more at stake than CoD and console gaming in this deal.

I knocked out the S2 street race last night. Someone on the Forza forums said the Sesto FE was a decent choice, so I tried that. I came in 4th in the first race, but couldn't close the gap at all against the 3 ahead, so I quit out and retooled. I swapped the stock Sesto FE tires for drift tires to give me some PI leeway to upgrade in speed. Car was a bit slippery around turns, but it gave me enough of a speed boost to overtake the drivatars, so with some rewind abuse, I was able to sweep that one. Another option from the Forza forums would've been to spec a car to 901 PI to restrict the drivatars, since even though some of them would've had a higher PI, the game would still limit them to not completely outclass you (something that was apparently broken with the Trailcat championship this week).

I got lucky with some spins to buy the Bentley, so I bought that last night, but didn't do anything else with it because of today's daily to spend 50k on upgrades. When I started up the game, that daily was already marked completed. Tooled it up to S1 for the speed zones, then dropped it down to D for the road races. I needed the complete and win a road race in a D class car accolades.

Then the 100 mile grind, which I used to set clean rival times on routes. I also needed the top 5% and 10% rival accolades for C and D, so I bumped to C class and worked through road point to point routes. Actually managed to crack 5% in the C class on the Reservorio Sprint just south of the Mexico Festival site. Then I switched to D class, completed the sprints and focused on the dirt trails. Reconfigured to offroad tires and rally suspension for that. Actually managed to crack 5% on a number of routes there, with my best finish top 2% on the Tulum Trail in the southeast, just south of the Gauntlet. So if anyone wants to try for those 5% accolades and the cars that come with them, you might have some luck on Trail routes. I think there are a lot of dirty times on them, so it might be easier to rank on them.

There were a couple CAG club people ahead of me on a couple routes that I couldn't catch but still managed to crack the 5% mark. On the Desierto Trail (little over 33k on the leaderboard), my Bentley is 1,340 (4%) at 3:02, while koheed is at 311 with a Jeep CKS at 2:53. On the Baja California Trail (just under 18k), I'm at 942 (5%) with 3:02.5 and DroogsDontRun is at 594 with 2:59 in a #1107 VW Bug. So those might be better car choices to set rival times. The Tulum Trail has over 37k on the leaderboard and 3:48 is good enough for top 2% in D class.

All told, I knocked out clean runs on about 20 routes and am just left with a few "beat ghost" accolades in a few classes and setting clean times on the rest of the routes. The hard stuff there is done.

With the XP earned from doing rivals and spending skill points from the weekend's arcade events, I earned enough from wheelspins for the Ferrari. Someone on the Forza forums said they were able to beat the speed trap with the stock parts, so I tried that a few times. Got within 2 mph, but gave up and switched to AWD. Took a few rewinds, but was able to line up an approach from the north where I was just able to stay on the bridge and hit the trap a couple mph over the requirement.

Just have the games and tomorrow's daily to go. If the daily works, since it's an expedition one and I've already completed all of them.

Agreed this was one of the hardest seasons with the 100 mile drive and no F40. Was lucky got it in wheel spin also. Had to grind to get enough FP for Koenigsegg.

What I was reading is that Kotick was against the sale, but the board overruled him. Then it was just about coming up with a deal to satisfy his personal outcome. Yes, he is going to cash in big time on this and emerge from his troubles in the most corporate executive of ways, but it really isn't a "win" for him. He hasn't had to worry about his money for decades, at his point it's all just numbers on a piece of paper - once you reach that point your currency becomes influence and control. And he is going to lose that at Activision, which is a huge "L" for people like him, especially given how long he has been there. So an already insanely rich guy gets more cash to put on his already unimaginable pile of money.

At least now people are looking at Activision/Blizzard games now with newfound hope. Yeah Sony fans are upset, but Diablo 4 might actually not turn out to be some unfinished, buggy mess riddled with microtransactions now that they have access to unlimited resources and a more patient/less penny pinching corporation backing them. Blizzard's last two big games were dripping with Activision's overbearing influence to cash in.

My thought is what does a franchise like Call of Duty, or Medal of Honor for that matter, bring to the table for a VR game? Realistic but exaggerated military setting? It's basically just name recognition. It's not like Half-Life where the medium just makes sense.

They are making the changes because of feedback. I do not see why talking about it should be an issue especially when this game is suppose to be a live and long on going game. Would they make this improvement if everyone said everything is fine when it isn't?

My point was just that with $20 for one skin and paid colors locked to one armor set. I don’t think Microsoft is any different than Activision when it comes to, Cash in on this game as much as possible. I removed the word paywall from my other post since that seemed to be the word pulled out.

Call of Duty knows it has the player base to have full lobbies even at $60 with micro transactions (is $20 still a micro transaction?) I think 343 only made it FTP because they knew most of the players would get it on Gamepass anyways and making it FTP would get them enough goodwill to sell some of those $20 skins. I think they were hoping it would get them less backlash over the pricing.
