General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

FH5 released a bit later than the others (Nov 9), but we're approaching the 7 month mark without even an announcement.  Once we got into May, I figured they'd hold off until the showcase, but I'm really curious why it's taken so long.  Dealing with the playlist issues and other bugs in FH5?  Focusing on Fable?  Also a little surprised they haven't put out an update with achievements for things already in the game (stories, expeditions, accolades, etc.) like a number of the FH4 updates.

Yeah the lack of even the title updates has been kind of baffling they loved adding "stories" in FH4 on a regular basis, isn't there even a daily payout screen in the FH5 menu? As far as I know there is nothing that gives even gives you daily payouts over a half year into the game. Well I suppose we know they are doing at least 2 DLCs since that's what I bought for that early access to the game, but the silence has been odd. Probably more clarity next week at this time.

Is this the "Here are the games NOT coming to Game Pass" show?

 
I think the second show is probably like a more concise Nintendo Treehouse stream, based on the description. I think non-GamePass is a good bet too.

Hard to say about the Geoff stream, that probably gets just as many viewers, if not more. If GoldenEye is coming to Switch also, that could be a factor. Neutral ground in a sense.

I assume this 2nd bethesda/MS show is just to announce upgraded rereleases of every previous Bethesda game. I'm expecting Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 to get new anniversary editions and added mod support on consoles. I don't think this is too much to expect as an apology for the Starfield delay.
 
I was checking Bing Rebates because my last purchase didn't track and I noticed they have an option to link a credit card to Bing Rebates to get cash back on in-store purchases. Has anyone done this? Any downsides?

Sounds like it is similar to the toast app that restaurants use for their rewards program when you swiped your linked credit card. I don't see any issues but I would not recommend linking any debit cards.

Crazy! Can’t say it didn’t seem likely. I used to listen to them a lot on the podcast but they split off into the East crew and then had a bunch of people leave/let go and shut down the East crew and it just hasn’t been the same recently. Seems like the money for that kind of a business is just drying up.

Tried Game Flip and bought a code from Argentina. Setup a VPN (I have an account with PrivadoVPN) to Argentina on my PC and attempted to register the code on Microsoft's web site. I get an error that the code does not match the region of my account. Do I have to also change my account to Argentina for this to work?

No you don’t. All you should need to do is have the VPN set to Argentina. Maybe try a different VPN?

Stop. That's how things get inflated. Apology? Wtf.

This second show is weird. Extended edition? Have any of the companies done this before? It's appropriately Xbox to have weird/bad messaging. All I really want is to see SF6 make an appearance.

Xbox did it last year as well. It’s just more in depth interviews and “deep dives” that not everyone wants to watch instead of making the main show three hours long. Don’t think it’s weird at all.

Just because I don't trust Microsoft to not care about this further down the line, I made a new account for Argentina and use that to redeem those codes... Since I have the same "home" Xbox, everybody's profile can play them no issues. Maybe worth a try.

Eh, I wouldn't say the business is drying up per se. It's definitely changed. GiantBomb, CNET, GameSpot, etc were all purchased by company called Red Ventures. They are mainly an SEO sales company that operates a funnel for products and services. For example, you google "internet deals Cleveland" and you get a sponsored ad for "internetpackages.net" or whatever and they direct you towards an internet package that they make a small cut of the sale. In the last few years, they have got into buying stuff like CNET, Healthline, and Bankrate (among literally hundreds of sites) so they can funnel you towards software packages, local doctors, mortgages, and everything in between (while making a small cut of the sale).

I don't think Giant Bomb is going to become a sponsored list company, but I definitely think it's an afterthought in the grand scheme of Red Ventures. I would also imagine there is a big culture shift going from a media company to what is essentially an SEO sales company. It's a pretty ruthless place from what I hear.

In regards to the Giant Bomb guys, three of the founders started Nextlander, which is sort of similar to what Giant Bomb started as (podcast, quick looks, etc.). I will be curious to see what Jeff does next.

 
Has it really been that long since he left gamespot to start giant bomb? That saga killed my interest in gamespot back in the day.

And they still haven't recovered. All they are now is a site that posts news every other site posts about games and movies which is mixed in with a bunch of "did you know?" type stuff everyone already knows. Then they repost the articles on Facebook over and over. The comments are always filled with crypto bots and trolls.

Remembering there was hype for Kane and Lynch back in the day for some reason makes me feel older than Giant Bomb starting even though they happened at the same time.

I've been using the site for years. Never a problem. I use Urban free VPN. It's just a browser extension on Chrome that i turn on for 1 minute to verify region and then it's disabled until the next big game comes out. Grab The Evil Dead game for $8 it's great!

 
I grabbed Gem Wizards Tactics for $1.74.  It was decent enough on Switch.  

I also want the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, but there are cheaper ways to play those arcade games.  :whistle2:k

 
Crazy that Dr Tracksuit is gone from Giantbomb, although it died for good when Vinny, Alex and Jeff all left. He hasn't been on the last couple of eps of the podcast so that was telling. Ha maybe he can join up with Nextlander and just basically be original Giantbomb again.

FIFA has notoriously taken forever to get added to the EA Access/Play Vault (which is how it would probably get to Game Pass), but it looks like last year's was there in mid-June according to some cursory Twitter searching. If you're asking about buying it before it gets vaulted, I'd probably hold off unless you really want to play it right now, though the price this week made me consider it, too.

It feels like it’s taking a bit longer than usual. I almost got it this week but I mainly play career mode so I’m fine waiting. I thought it might be added this week but oh well and it’ll be on sale again this summer if you want a copy for when it inevitably gets delisted. Unless you play FUT, I don’t see a rush to get it.

Totally fine with it considering Miura told his friend how it would end and his assistants have said to been able to mimic his style well. Also it's not like it'll tarnish his work since even if it turns out bad you can separate the chapters from before and after his passing.

I Just remember the biggest problem with Miura was he would focus on a singular page for weeks so I'm curious as well. With this and HxH coming back now I'm curious what will actually put out more chapters per year since I think HxH has 10 chapters in the barrel so far or something.
