General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

See how the character arcs came together and ultimately resolved.....well, that didnt happen. I had so many questions by the time I finished the game. I won't go on too much of a rant. However when the game is done and the opening cut scene of the game is never explained, that exudes a WTF. Enjoy the journey cause the end result leaves much to be desired

After that one character said he destroyed his phone to go off the grid and immediately the next chapter he was talking about how he was on his phone the next day and no one questioned a damn thing, I just had immediate red flags of knowing "this is not worth it." Then the fact none of the choices mattered and the characters kept annoying me because I had no say in any of it just made me straight up not care and now it's deleted. I'd rather spend this time grinding my Ninja Turtle characters to level 10 where at least I can say I'm playing something and not pushing myself through a game I have no fucks about where only reason I'm "playing" it is because achievements and it's leaving.

 
Shredder’s Revenge was great, if a little too easy. I played it 2 player through story mode in an evening. I’m not sure if my buddy will want to revisit it though. And I doubt I’ll tackle much of the game by myself

I only found John’s arc engaging. I thought there’d be a better resolution but it just ended. Going into it you are expecting everyone’s stories to tie together in a meaningful way but it didn’t. I don’t regret spending my time playing it but I was disappointed only because the premise and idea had potential.

This. After completing the game I wikied the studio and realized they made the game Virginia. Glad I didn't know that going in to play LS. I really enjoyed Virginia. After finishing that game, I checked out a "Virginia explained" vid and adored it after that. Mopped up the achievements on a 2nd playthrough & loved every moment

I get what the devs were going for, but yeah. I'd give another game of their's a shot.....if it was on game pass lol

On topic of the deals thread, since Game Pass came into my life, I rarely buy games anymore. But with that $5 back for buying $40 during this Deals Unlocked sale, I splurged. Got the AssCreed Origins season pass since that's the deepest discount its had, Phoenix Wright Trilogy for 50% off, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 for my daughter & the Goosebumps game for her too. Wanted to get Dying Light 2 since its 33% off/$40, but that game isn't cross gen yet. Update hasn't released so I can't play with my bud. I can be patient

Ended up putting in a refund request for Blade Runner. Numerous problems reported everywhere and the dev has only said "working on a patch" with no details. Guess Nightdive is now on the "wait for review" list.

AC:Origins had great dlc. I don’t buy games much either anymore because of Gamepass and there are a couple of games(Tales of Arise and Far Cry 6) on sale I’d like to get but they haven’t dropped enough for me. Phoenix Wright is still tempting but I think it’s just sit in my backlog forever.
 
Not seeing it get mentioned much, but I thoroughly enjoyed the new TMNT game on Game Pass.  Nice nostalgia for those of us who grew up in the 80's/90's, and gameplay is really fun with a group of friends

The big update for FH5 apparently did include (a major part of) the Hot Wheels expansion.  The map has been found in the game files and someone posted a bird's eye view without the Hot Wheels tracks.

Pretty unique as far as BR games on console. Controls are set up like Souls games by default, but it plays faster like a Platinum or Ninja Gaiden game. Combat seems good but not overly deep, more a wide spread of different feels from the weapons. This would definitely take more time to judge well though, just first impressions.

The inventory UI needs work. Really small for console standards compared to what you actually need to be looking at. Not as bad as PUBG but definitely should get a console pass.

Visually the art style looks great, but performance is kind of rough on Series X. A lot of noticeable screen-tearing and some FPS drops, with no graphics setting the help. The characters look good but the default designs have the kind of generic look that seems common in higher budget Chinese games. The premium stuff looks a lot cooler.

Some mildly scuffed translations, and some of the menus feel early, like placeholders.

As far as comparisons to the shooter BRs, the general feature set feels closest to Apex. The characters are hero style with unique abilities and Ultimate attacks.

There is a free pack for GamePass Ultimate members that gives a character as well.

I ended up starting it and stayed up way too late playing it. The controls are a bit spazzy, but it's fun. The only annoying thing is my fully charged elite 2 controller turned off while playing like 10 times last night. It normally just happens like once every 2 weeks. I wonder if that's an issue with some games like the shutting down in enhanced games.

Anywho. It's a good gamepass game. After playing it, I'd say none of the other versions are worth paying for. That money would better go towards unlocking other characters or the battle pass. There are a lot of different quests and ways to unlock things or progress without paying anything.

I'm pretty surprised the core game isn't F2P, that makes the microtransaction shit feel a lot worse. You do earn currency to unlock the other characters, but everything is fairly expensive for real money prices. The battlepass is $12 since the $10 currency isn't enough to buy it

The other editions just appear to be for some skins and a few lootboxes.

I do see a couple people mentioning controllers becoming unresponsive in the Xbox store reviews. I didn't experience that myself.

There are some super pricey things in the game. It's like $40 for a hamster grapple hook you likely won't notice! :p

No controller issues today. There have been some hotfixes though. I know many achievements were busted at launch but work fine now.

I take that stance with every game. We are beyond the days of needing to pre-order digital games. Let these companies put out a finished working product before taking our money. They are already going to milk us on DLC that fixes what should have been fixed before release.

The GOG and now the Steam versions of Blade Runner EE both include the “classic” edition running on ScummVM. It laid the groundwork for the game to be rereleased and seems to be the best version for now.

Yeah, eventually I might go that route, but I'd prefer to play on Xbox if possible. I just got the new Fire Emblem anyways so I'll be on that for a while.
 
So I’ve unlocked about 13 achievements today and none of them counted for the weekly or daily. It’s pretty frustrating that this is still not working. My streak will probably end now at 48 weeks and I will start over. When there are errors like this they should just give everyone this weekly due to technical difficulties.

TMNT is a blast though. Really enjoyed it.
 
Yeah TMNT is great.  Started up with Casey Jones and it feels like a completely different game. Hopefully that new feeling keeps up and I'll run through it with all of the characters

The daily didn't register for me today. I tried unplugging the Xbox for a bit while I ran some errands, but forgot to check it again before midnight, so now I'm in that midnight to 3am Eastern window when it never works for me. I got the 3 achievements for the weekly set back on Tuesday, but I just checked the tile and it's showing 0/3 achievements earned, though it still has the completed checkmark.

There are at least 5 threads talking about the daily and/or weekly quests on the Microsoft Rewards subreddit in the past 24 hours, so something's up. Someone suggested reinstalling the app. Tried that, didn't show anything different.

 
I got 3 achievements in Death's Door yesterday. All within about 1 hour of each other. No matter how many times I clicked on the daily random times throughout the day, it never worked. I am glad it's only 50 points but still, those add up for the whole month. Is MS aware of the problem? Because I highly doubt they look here for glitches and bugs.

Games do not downgrade when you transfer them to an external, that's why you can "store" native Series X games on an external hard drive. Series X games that are playable from an external drive (xboxonegen9aware) retain all their enhancements.

As for the original question, I do not know if a Series X game that is playable from an external hard drive would work if the drive was plugged into an older Xbox One X. The game may know to disable the enhancements in that case since it looks for which game system you are using. I can try to stop by a family member's house tomorrow and test it out.

I assumed the enhancements wouldn't trigger if it was on an external SSD, but that makes sense too. Gen9Aware games should play on any Xbox series, since they're just recompiled versions of the original Xbox One games to take advantage of the new operating environment, and not custom built for the new AMD architecture. It SHOULD still run in the old Xbox environment.

This has been annoying me all week. I really hate the XBox rewards app sometimes. It is inconsistent quite often. I was able to complete my weekly tasks Friday and just completed a 10 week streak for 2500 points which I was thinking I would not complete because of this glitch. Every time I click the daily achievement button I feel like it is a flip of the coin. Will it check off or will it mock me with no update? Very frustrating.

It's kind of sad that I am used to this kind of broken software and still use it for the points I get. Normally I would be done with an app this messed up.

Well would you look at that. I booted up the Xbox this morning and the weekly streak 3/3 achievements was unlocked and then I checked it off. Got a few more achievements in TMNT tried the daily and nothing. No big deal on that just wanted to keep the weekly going. Daily has always been hit or miss. One more week to another bonus 2500 points.

Yeah, I lost a 50-some week streak a few weeks ago because a third achievement wouldn't register. I popped multiple in different games trying for it but no good. That app is jank.
 
It messed up on me as well. I was stuck on 2/3 and after unlocking a few more and spamming the app it finally registered. Now, I can't get Minecraft bedrock to launch without it immediately cutting back to the home screen.
 
Last night and the night before didn’t check off the daily reward. I registered my 3 achievements right away this week playing TMNT, so can’t comment on that part. Daily was working prior to two days ago

Naraka has taken my weekend and it was a fun time.  I'm down to 3 achievements which are for ranking up characters and weapons.  It'll take a little time, but not super grindy I don't think.  There are enough character challenges to keep it from getting too boring yet.

 
The daily 50 point achievement works for me if I just wait over two hours after getting the achievement then tap on the button in the XBox Rewards app. Like doing it immediately, nothing ever comes up, but waiting awhile I do get it since I had to that method both yesterday and today.

I have tried all of those things and it still won't redeem. I try all various times during the day. Turning on my console just to try to get 50 points is irritating and not worth my time. MS needs to just fix this. The only thing I haven't tried today is resetting the console. I have tried that twice in the last couple of days and it doesn't work so I don't see the point. Seems like MS is getting away with giving out A LOT of points.
