General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Might as well play some Dreamlight Valley, nostalgia is strong and from what I've seen so far it might be fun.

Decided to try Train Sim World 3. I don’t think I’ve played any sort of train game for 25+ years so thought it would be a nice change of pace. It’s pretty good and surprisingly accessible. A bit like Flight Simulator in that it would be something I’d only want to play once in a blue moon but at least it doesn’t take up hundreds of gigabytes of space like that does.

Same. I enjoyed the game but I’ve never been to Disneyland but I’ve went to Disney World plenty and would love to have seen some of the rides in that game.

Well back from my vacation and I got COVID! The good news is that one of my symptoms is I got body chills and my city is in the middle of record high temperatures so I ate spicy ass Korean ramen today and barely broke a sweat and living it up with the 98 degree sun beating down on me.

Also I REALLY like the visual design of Artful Escape. That is a beautiful little game.

I loved the Artful Escape. Like you said really beautiful. Feel like that's been one of the better / more enjoyable game pass surprises for me as of recent. gameplay is minimal but the game hit me hard in all the right ways

If one happens I wouldn't expect it until a "GOTY" release after they wrap up all support, and after the expansion has had time to sell. Maybe 2024, possibly late next year if that expansion is out by March, but I doubt that.
 
Heads-up, Avengers is very likely leaving Game Pass at the end of the month based on the discount timers on all the DLCs. Also been about a year since its addition.

Disney Dreamlight Valley so far is a great time sink. I couldn’t believe what time it was when I stopped playing. This might kill what time I spend daily with Animal Crossing.
 
I think awp mentioned it before, but Norco is a great point and click game.  It's on PC Game Pass.

After selling some of my retro games when I got sick, I've been expanding my collection again. I went a little wild after going back to work. Luckily some of the more expensive stuff I already owned, but I don't know if I'll ever get Fire Emblem (GC), House of the Dead (Sat), Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sat), Albert Odyssey (Sat), Dragon Force (Sat), or Shining Force III (Sat).

Could go either way. If they learn the proper lessons from 2077 then they'll be fine. If not they'll truly be Bioware 2.0. I do think they were legitimately humbled by the reception at least.

Personally I hope they hire new combat designers, and someone who knows how to make actually functional inventory and crafting UI for their next game.

I anticipated problems so I already deleted all cookies from the browser and closed it before activating the VPN.

Yeah, after more research I found out my paid VPN (PIA) doesn't actually have a physical server in Argentina, it's virtualized. Apparently Microsoft is aware even though their site redirects to the Argentina website. I had tried the Urban VPN chrome extension but it wouldn't connect to any server, but the program ended up working. I was already looking for another VPN for other reasons, but I see the two I'm looking at don't have servers in Argentina at all. Guess I will have to keep using the free one. Thanks for the suggestion.

 
Speaking of Argentina codes, hoping for some cheap Steelrising. Getting mixed reviews but I’m still intrigued…if I can get it cheap.

Your GameCube collection looks eerily similar to what mine did before I sold most of it off this year. I got $300 for my copy of Fire Emblem.

My biggest blunder was selling my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga way back when for $200 when I needed some rent money. I'm planning to sell the rest of my Saturn collection sometime, which includes Magic Knight Rayearth, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, and Albert Odyssey.

 
Trying to beat Flynn Son of Crimson before it leaves Game Pass and on the third world and the game ain't hitting. Like it's either the controls feeling not as snappy as I like or really the combat forcibly holding back any depth. Like all the moves and then some are stuck behind an upgrade tree and even then those moves take up a bar that slowly builds up from defeated enemies or from a power up pick-up. If they had just given more moves available in the offset instead of bare ass basic X to attack or hell, a least made the stupid move meter build up quicker from combos or whatever then I think I'd enjoy it. But instead the game forcibly sits you down and tries to make you go at a slow pace to the point where I just straight up try and avoid enemy encounters because mash X and roll and dodge just ain't cutting it.

I kinda like it. If you want to just finish it, there's an option to turn on "No Hit" so you don't get damaged.

There were times when I wish I could leave the little brother to the rats, some of his whining got really old, but it was a really great game. I will definitely be checking out the sequel for no out of pocket cost on Game Pass.
 
I honestly can't think of too many games more botched than Overwatch. Back in 2016/2017 it was my most played game after I fell in love with the characters. Now, after tons of updates that just piled on on questionable balance and design choices, we are here.

 
It's great because the founder's pack they've been selling only mentioned cosmetics and currency. This could be the thing that tanks the playerbase.

I haven’t had any problems except when I try and use the Ratatouille themed stove. My hud goes away until I hit the menu button.

I meant that PS5 is the only console that runs the game at 60 FPS.

In other news it looks like the default install locations feature I was asking for is coming in the future.
