• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

New Overwatch 2 players need to grind out 100 matches to unlock the original games roster. Seems pretty high. On average 10 minutes a game means around 17 hours, not including matchmaking or menu time.

Thank you for reminding me, I went and made each of my kids a battle.net account and logged into OW1 so they have them unlocked for OW2.

Hope your kids all have phones otherwise they will never be able to play OW2, the new requirement to finally combat Smurf accounts requires a real phone number, no VOIP or Prepaid numbers will work.

Ah, that’s really stupid. I didn’t know that. I don’t think I even have that turned on for my own account. I’m pretty sure I silenced voice chat in Overwatch in 2016 and have never turned it on since, same with Apex. Unless I’m playing with someone in my friends list, I’ve lost interest in hearing what the average free to play gamer has to say over the mic.

Maybe I won’t be playing Overwatch 2. I was going to give it a try but I don’t feel like being hassled with giving them my phone number or letting them record anything. I’m interested to see how launch goes for them. Guess maybe they are wanting a small player pool.

Anybody happen to own the Hisense U8H? RTINGS posted their review and it’s pretty favorable. The 55” (the biggest I can fit into my game area) goes for $700. I see a few complaints about some ghosting.

There's also noticeable banding and posterization in gradients, but we don't know if there are any plans to fix this. The manufacturer advertises it to support 4k @ 120Hz Dolby Vision gaming, but it's not working at the moment, and with the Xbox Dolby Vision is limited to 4k @ 60Hz. If you start playing a game that supports Dolby Vision and you have the refresh rate set to 120Hz, it'll fall back to HDR10 instead."

Prodeus is indeed ing awesome. If you’re a Doom-style shooter fan, it’s a must play. Level design and style is fantastic.

Also tried FIFA 23 but can’t figure out how to play as Ted Lasso. Is that DLC that’s not available yet?

I played for about 90 mins tonight. Had a blast. So far no stupid platforming and fly though the air like Doom Eternal (rage quit and will likely never go back). Looking forward to playing some more soon.

It’s kind of insane how many jokes are hidden in background objects in AI Somnium Files.  The same objects will give different lines when viewed again in later scenes.  Some of them are pretty hard to spot.

Admittedly, I didn't finish any of them because I binged FC6 and burned out on the gameplay. I suppose if you enjoy the characters enough you might like it; I thought I would enjoy Vaas' "journey" in the DLC but it's not very substantial as there is no story. Also the DLCs encourage you to replay them on higher difficulties. You don't have to unless you really enjoy the gameplay.

I did mean 6. Playing as those great villains would be great but I’m not into rogue-likes much. I’ve seen others mirror your comment that the DLC just is t substantial.
FC5’s DLC was meh. I played FC3 so many times years ago, I never got around to playing Classic edition that was included with it. The only other DLC I played was the Vietnam one and thought it was good. I got bored early on in the Martian one and never finished.

Can confirm my U7H does this. DV only at 60hz.

A lot of the 4K releases lately have been from specialty labels like Shout, Arrow, Kino and Criterion. They don’t own the rights to digital. They’re only paying the original studios to do the 4K discs. Kind of leasing those rights for physical.

Codes usually only come when the original studio is actually doing the 4K release themselves.

With a lot of this stuff they seem to be mirroring how Valorant is set up to combat Smurfs and F2P hacking. Taking that as a cue, I am fully expecting the extremely expensive cosmetics from that game to show up in OW2. Some people were trying to defend the survey asking about $45 skins as testing the waters, but I seriously doubt that.

As is, I don't really know what the goal is here. I should be the exact type of player they want on their side. I have hundreds of hours in OW1, and, put in thousands of hours between three F2P games, and have played Fortnite nearly every day for about 4.5 years. I'm the exact person you want to be excited and trying to bring my friends over to check out the "new" game. But with the phone number requirement, the recorded voice chat, AND the large grind to get to square one it is now difficult to recommend to new players. I'm still going to check it out, but I'm only really expecting to see long-time and lapsed OW players from my existing friends list.

Really I think the unlock process should be pretty short. Maybe play 2-3 games each as the Tank/Healer/DPS. As is the grind works out to "play three games as each hero" and I feel like that will reinforce the lopsided preference of DPS created when they rolled the support class into it. A problem due to the stupid role restrictions placed later in OW1 life.

I’m not surprised after seeing what they did with Valhalla. I thought it was the worst AC game so I’m glad I’ve had no interest in all the dlc and seasons they’ve done. I’m also really reluctant about the future of the franchise. I wouldn’t be interested in this rumored GOTY edition either.

Bought it on steam when the hype started. You are correct in that is weirdly addictive for such a simple game. Sometimes you just get those lucky runs and become ridiculously powerful and feels amazing to plow through the couple hundred enemies on the screen.

Getting a new character every 3ish matches gives them a chance to gradually try different characters. I know games with similar character variations like Apex or siege I'd jump around from character to character until I found what I like.

I am curious to see how it all turns out but am not getting my hopes up. A big overhaul will maybe get me to play more frequently than the "events only" way I've been playing the last couple years but who knows how long it will motivate me to stay playing.

I don't know. From what I saw it will be limited to 15 at launch, which is less than the original game had at all launch. I really don't think it's that overwhelming.

Yeah, the combination of luck, building the stats, and unlocking characters makes it pretty addictive, there is some hidden depth to it beyond how simple it is. You could literally play this with an Atari 2600 controller.

So am I the only one that when they announce a new high powered handheld that plays AAA games I just don't get it? Like big blockbuster games I always feel are best at the comfort of home with a controller or keyboard or whatever and sitting down and rested and taking in all the big dumb multi million dollar effects and sound on a good sized screen. So am I the only one that when they announce a new high powered handheld that plays AAA games I just don't get it? Like big blockbuster games I always feel are best at the comfort of home with a controller or keyboard or whatever and sitting down and rested and taking in all the big dumb multi million dollar effects and sound on a good sized screen. Totally with you on that. Most of the games i play I only want to see on a big screen tv and with a home theater and can’t imagine playing on a handheld.

Hell yeah it is! I've only gotten GamePass free (through promotions), I've never really felt the price tag was worth it, but this is definitely more my speed. I usually only want to play a game or two, I just wanted to try out Deathloop.

Prodeus is indeed ing awesome. If you’re a Doom-style shooter fan, it’s a must play. Level design and style is fantastic.

Yeah, don't sleep on this one if you are a fan of 90s shooters like Doom, Quake, Unreal, etc.

Different use cases really. I know some people who need to rely on portability, and a couple who just prefer it. I'm generally ok as long as the game runs and looks decent, but when possible I like to play the best available version of a game that I can access.

While games that get ported to inferior hardware tend to suffer pretty badly(horrible performance or cloud versions), I don't care as long as it doesn't impact the better platforms overall. I can't think of too many cases of the reverse, all that is coming to mind is the overall superior Dragon Quest XI S being compromised on all platforms by the Switch assets. It's rare that this type of thing is the case unless you zoom way out to high-level designs like having "loading caves" due to old HDD speeds in stuff like God of War or Tomb Raider.

The only thing that really bothers me is when first/second-party games run badly on their only hardware, like many Nintendo games.
