• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Because I once made a mistake and paid a $100 for a version of Halo Wars 2 to clear the threshold to became a 5 star VIP member for buying so much digital stuff in a year in 2017. One of the old MS programs before it rolled into what MS Rewards is now. By all accounts I think I'm suppose to get only 20 points per $1 spent but for what ever reason I still get 100 points per $1 spent. I just bought the Sega Dreamcast classic Zero Gunner 2 for $9.99 and I got 1000 points so still working in 2023.

I played a few hours of Jade Empire since I picked it up on sale this last week. Incredibly disappointing to see how great Bioware once was compared to what it is today. Just a shell of its former self. Also, Jade Empire is a fantastic game and worth playing if you somehow missed it.

Curious, is the stick plugged in right from the start when you turn the console on with no other controllers turned on? I Remember I had a problem similar to that with the ACA Neo Geo games on XBox and it not recognizing my arcade stick and it wasn't until I realized that for some reason it only recognizes the initial controller that turned on my XBox and not the stick that got plugged in afterwards.

I think I might finally just bite the bullet and buy Biomutant. Thought we might see a $10/$15 black Friday sale but $20 seems like an ok price. With 20% off MS money it come to $16+tax. I played the free weekend and thought it was fun enough. It has been out almost 2 years and very resistant to a deep cut. This is the cheapest on digital so far.

Prey Digital Deluxe for $6 and Valley for $1.50 (this game is a 7/10 for me - bought it cheap and enjoyed) are decent pickups on sale this week.  I think the Darksiders collection at $16 is also a new low for all 3 games... haven't played those yet so I may check that out.

I doubt anyone cares but I’ll give my 2 cents after playing the first 4 hours of Dead Space 2023 - I completed the original Dead space in October so it’s fresh in my mind . I’d say so far it’s 80% the same and with a few things being different. With this being a $70 game that might matter to you if you played the original a few times and you are sick of the puzzles and story beats . I can’t really explain it but it feels more like resident evil in space more than ever which makes it more fun to me. The difficulty does feel bumped up even though I’m just on normal the enemies do a ton of damage and if you don’t hit your shots you’ll get destroyed.The good news is if it’s too hard there’s a story mode to help you out . The controls are tight, graphics pop with fantastic lighting effects and the sound design is 10/10 .The guns are fun to use all with secondary firing modes that are fantastic . If anyone cares about achievements it looks like you can get all but 3 in one play through, unless there’s a way to cheese a save game at the end . Having said all that with it being $70 it’s hard to recommend in my opinion this is an instant buy at $40. I would think reviews coming out will be 7.5 to 8 range if I had to guess

We are moving away from Ass Creed modern day (fine by me...at this point the modern day storyline for AC is a dumpster fire), adding in 'levels/gatekeeping' to areas...and creating larger environments where it doesn't really make sense from a gameplay perspective to assassinate people.
I'm a big AC fan, I liked Bayek and his storyline, I liked the ideas around 'the origins' of AC.  Game play was good and I enjoyed the storyline...even if it just sort of ended.

good character to play.  Having said that, this game could just be called Odyssey.  It really has little to nothing to do with AC.  The Kassandra story ending is just bonkers....Storywise it stinks...still pretty entertaining from a gameplay perspective

Sigh.  I told you, enough with the peanut butter...stop backing the tanker truck of peanut butter (Witcher gameplay) up to my choc chip (AC).  This game is like playing a James Bond game where you aren't James Bond, not even a secret agent.  but like a street fighter just following him around to do stuff.   
There's more 'moral dilemmas' (witcher interactive dialogs)...You will be saying WTF to the big twist at the end if you don't play the Asgard missions...this happened to me and I was like...where did this twist come from??? Hey Ubi, if 
you're going to do something like this, maybe force me to do a few Asgard missions rather than making them entirely optional.   So disappointed. I could be done with AC (who am I kidding, I'll check out the next one)

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY (Playtime: ???)
This was my second attempt at starting the game (I started pre GOTY and had to restart because my saves didn't carry over to GOTY). While the game certainly has quirkyness (combat, horse riding/pathfinding, etc).
Man, the story and feeling of the world are just great.  NPCs feel real and choices to be made feel like the had impact to the story.  I'm not sure I agree with the games decision on how it picks 'the ending', but hey, I'm not
going to take it to task over that.  Also, I'm not a big DLC missions fan (Never get any for AssCreed, etc). This game has THE best DLC mission I've ever played.  Hearts of Stone was amazing.  I'd say better than the orig game story.
Blood and Wine is good, but not great.  Both worthwhile to play and you'd be doing a big disservice if you don't play Hearts of Stone.

I was wrong to dismiss this as GTA in the Wild West...it rises above that.

  It's probably been about a year (or more) since I
finished this game. I haven't uninstalled it yet.  I still think about it occasionally.  Just riding on my white horse, going hunting...fishing...shooting people in the face that look at me wrong.  Man, this game has just stuck with me.
I'm not a big fan of games that take a few hours to 'pull you in'.  This was one of those games.  I started it once on Game Pass...I'm on my horse...just pressing the button to advance some long drawn out convo through a blizzard...eh...
Arthur Morgan seems kinda like a dink....this sucks...delete.  Then, I play RDR 1...hmm...curious how John Marston's story started....maybe I should try it again?  Re-install.  Make it past the initial jibba-jabba...man, the voice acting
is just top notch..and the amount of it.  I really got invested in Arthur's story and other members of Dutch's gang. I could go on but...just play it...especially if you like/love Westerns...Man, really, really good.

I played 1, then took a break and played 2-3 back-to-back...probably not a good idea...best to give some space between these....The 'story' just gets worse as you go....Gameplay remains constant, I think.  Really like the big environments.
Liked the story initially, then pretty much ignored it...mid 2.   Works as a AssCreed replacement for me since AssCreed is going 'Full Witcher' (well was, maybe they're going 'Full MTX' now...(MTX reference was for MysterD)

I paused this one for a few months and came back and was pretty lost....finished it and don't regret it...even though towards the end my thumb was getting tired of mashing the 'A' button to get through the 30min cutscenes....

• Doom Eternal - Remember Doom (2016), this is Doom (2016) with everything added into the game that you never wanted: tons of ammo farming, platforming, etc.  Really disappointing...I'm done
• Carrion - Interesting game and gameplay...no map and mucho backtracking is a no bueno for me
• Dishonored 2 - Corvo takes a backseat to the other main character...not what I asked for....may pick up again
• Dark Alliance - Yuck, next...
• Curse of the Dead Gods - Interesting...not sure how into roguelites I am....might pick it up again in the future

• Star Wars Battlefront II: Started to play the campaign...quit when I got to ship combat...The Force is not with me...
• Mad Max - Started twice, I really want to like this game....I just hate the combat engine....god I hate it....I can tolerate it in Batman....but here, sorry, I didn't survive Thunderdome....
• Batman: Arkham City - Started once...it's ok...I just flail around like a monkey on crack....thumb hurts from button mashing....not sure if I'll go back
• Far Cry: New Dawn -  Oh, hell naw!!!
• Sleeping Dongs Definitive Edition:  Started once, liked it...probably about 75% of the way through....checkpoint system screwed me over a few times with losing progress....I'm still salty
• Watch Dongs: Legion: - Started once...yeesh....take what little character WD1 and WD2 had, strip that away and let you play Grandma Moses on the street....I could be done with this one...
• Greedfall - Started once...can't stand the combat...didn't make it out of the tutorial area....may have had my fill
• Ghost Recon: Breakpoint - Played after a bunch of the changes 'improved' it.  Man, I loved Wildlands.  Breakpoint is way to generically repetitive....I could be done.
• Dark Souls - Started once....ain't nobody got time for 'dat!!!  
• Crackdown - Generic open world shoot....I'm good...done
• Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - This game looks awesome...This game sounds awesome....Dialog is humorous....Gameplay...sucks....I'm about 80% through and I just can't stomach the bullshit gameplay any longer...
• Chorus - Supposed to be like Freelancer....eh, not to me....looks good...story/gameplay not pulling me in...
• Maneater - The pork rinds of gaming...ok for a little bit but then you have that first belch and you feel like you should probably put the bag down
• Homefront: The Revolution: Started twice....Your generic run-of-the-mill 'open' world shoot with missions, side missions, etc.  Combat is weirdly spongy....weapons feel and sound off....may go back if I'm incredibly bored.
• Sniper Elite 5: Someone thought that it would be great to remove much of the sniping from Sniper Elite and add in the need for more close combat kills...ok...but maybe change the name to Commando Elite...or something...God what a disappointment...go back and play SE4....I'm deleting this game
• Deathloop:  You can feel some of Dishonored seeping in...Man...I dunno...the gameplay is just boring.....I'm done....
• Saints Row IV: Re-Elected:  How about we use all the assets from SR3..and...um...I dunno...add Aliens!!!!! Yeah, that's the ticket!....nope
• Stranded Deep:  I keep getting knocked off my raft ever 20 seconds by a shark......homie don't play dat!

Between Eneba and CD Keys I'd definitely go with CD Keys. I've had mixed results on Eneba. I had one batch of codes for 1 month Game Pass that were 75% already redeemed. It's not often mentioned here, but I do think the Gamestop $5 monthly coupon is a great way to get a deal on both Xbox credit and Game Pass if that's what you're looking for

Thank you. Just comparing some of the game sales for this week vs eneba. Would have been nice to see an IO sale this week. I have purchased from CDKeys, good site. Some, not all, of CDKeys games are more expensive or OOS vs eneba.

I may have too see what GS has for the $5 coupon. I have access to GPU for another 26 months and use rewards.

You don't have to do the online purchase immediately after, but you do have to do it second because it will disappear from your account after and I don't think they'll let you scan a barcode at the register to use the $5 for the in-store purchase.

As long as you save the code and use it before the end of the month, you are good to go. BTW, ask me what I forgot to do after I did the in-store purchase...

Sadly it actually does list Xbox content and services down 8% separately. I gotta wonder if GamePass is losing a good bit of money. I love it. Just hope it keeps it up in the long run.

But this was to be expected no? The gaming industry saw an absolutely astronomical boom over the last 2 years when everyone was locked up at home. Being down only 8% now that everyone is going back to school and work is really not that bad. The key here is not that they saw a dip in sales but how they fared compared to their competition. I'm willing to bet that the rest of the industry saw a similar dip in sales.

Also keep in mind that Xbox is currently competing without really releasing any AAA 1st party games. What do you think is going to happen once they start the cadence of releasing a AAA every quarter? No other game company can match that. For all of the flack that Xbox received last year, Sony only managed to release GOW and Horizon last year because they got delayed from their original release date of 2021 and they currently have no 1st party games scheduled for all of 2023. Let that sink in.

Pretty sure I'm late to the game on this, but I was playing a PC game for the Xbox app points, popped an achievement, and it gave me credit for the +50 when I logged in on Xbox later in the evening.

I’m shocked Xbox is only down 8%. At Christmas the only new games we got were for PS5 and Switch. I’m buying Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy on Xbox but that’s the first big game I’ve bought on Xbox in a long time. Between Gamepass and just feeling like Xbox has been in a dry spell on games I want to play, it’s been a minute since I’ve bought anything big. I play Apex and Fortnite and Overwatch 2 on Xbox though because it’s my favorite ecosystem and favorite controller of the major consoles.
