• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

So pressing A on a game that's pinned to home in the new dash doesn't launch it, it opens the Game Card. Pressing A on a game in a group does launch it. I can't see anyone that customized home liking this update beyond the rearrangement of the top screen. I'll adjust, but I can't see how people with design and usability backgrounds would sign off on this.

On another note, completed The Last Case of Benedict Fox. Decent Metroidvania with an interesting story, but some annoying controls. They could be a bit more responsive during gameplay when timing jumps or in combat.

There are also some design decisions regarding the controls that take a little getting used to. Pressing start takes you to the map page of the menu, but pressing start again doesn't return you to the game, it brings up a list of the warp points for your current area. Have to press B to go back to the game. Also, the game differs on whether you need to simply press or hold a button to pick something. I think it broke down that the menus used presses while interacting with things required holding, but plenty of times I got into the habit of holding B to leave the menu, with the game sitting there until I released the button.

Load times are a bit surprising for the genre, running on Series X with the game on internal storage.

There is a point in the very late game where the game gives you a warning about proceeding. It's not a complete point of no return, since you're still able to go through the map and do most things, but a couple upgrade vendors leave. If you haven't fully upgraded from one of them, you will miss out on at 1 least achievement. I had read about it beforehand, but generally try to get everything before moving on. If you plan to 100% everything ...

there is 1 collectible item past that point, which gives some Bits and Pieces currency used for upgrading. But there's more than enough to upgrade everything before you get to that point. So don't stress about not having 100% BnP for that area.

The game has some accessibility options to make things easier. Not sure what they all do. I think I read somewhere that one of them involves highlighting on the map which upgrade is needed for various dead ends you run into. There's also an "immortality" option.

I ran with the defaults, took me about 30 hours to complete, which includes many deaths and circling back to every question mark on the map to see if a recently acquired upgrade helped. Some enemies are tough, as are many puzzles. Had to look up some of them, because I couldn't tell what they were going for. There are a couple chase sequences that will take some tries to figure out the path, since it's not immediately clear which way to go when you've got a huge enemy on your heels.

They've legit actively made it worse the last few years in a row. Makes no sense unless you're an advertisement shilling garbage person.

If i would have known the Medals on TA for August involve playing more Games started, I would actually have done more during the bean dive lol. Now I'm thinking about starting some more this month so I can go for them in the next one...If I read that correcly it's achievements from 15 different Games started for the Gold.

As for the Genre Medal, I wonder how they will count if a game has multiple Genres. Also a lot of those Games on TA are flagged either too generic or completely false....

Also I have another personal goal for this year, 100% a game for each letter of the Alphabet, and I'm already close (for some letters I beat 5+ games this year alone lol) currently only K, U, V, X, Y and Z are missing. But I already have titles for that in mind.

I've beaten a total of 49 Games this year so far. Biggest backlog of unfinished Games are on the 360 site and more than half of these are not BC and have to be played on the 360.

I thought the dive period was only the 10 days, but I think that may have only been for starting a dive. I thought of diving more games, but felt 25 was a good number.

I have a page and a half of double vowel achievements. I dove the first Assassin's Creed, which has 9, though I don't know how far into the game I'd need to go to unlock all of them. For the Borderlands Pre-Sequel XB1 port, I picked Wilhelm (did Athena on the 360), and his action skill achievement is a double vowel.

I've completed 18 games so far this year, not counting FH5 which was just the Rally DLC that released. Nearing completion on the JP stack of Sudoku and a couple Gears games. Completed the last daily challenge achievement in Sudoku last month, and they announced earlier this month it would be delisted (happened a few days ago) with support ending in November. Just 14 levels and 110 games for the last 2 achievements, though I don't think they'd be impacted by the support ending.

After completing Gears Judgment last month and all but the busted Mix It Up achievement in Gears Ultimate Windows earlier this year, I'm down to Seriously in Ultimate console and the 2 Ironman campaign achievements in 4. I've been grinding out Seriously in 2v2 Gnashers myself with 3 dummy accounts. What's weird is the progress tracker that pops up is ahead of my war journal, and the gap widens. Tracking is probably nearing 8,200. Considered finishing that and 4 on the same day, but it could be tricky with the tracking off. At least it's in my favor. Currently toward the end of the first act in Gears 4. Ironman needs to be done Hardcore, but a second account can join as casual, so I've been playing with a casual dummy and keeping my main in cover. Not sure how well that will work in some sections, particularly the bike vs jet part, but we'll see. Still needs the long Vs achievements in 5. At 69% on 100k kills (though only at 55k kills), 54% on 100M damage and 52% on 50k assists. Would really be something if I could finish all 3 off on the same day. Could go for a quad with the JP stack of 2. Partway through the Insane campaign, still need most of co-op campaign and around 87k kills for Seriously 2.0.

Other things that have been added, like the larger purple icons (Midnight Battles) and extra stories were free updates. Can't think of anything added that would've required a paid car pack.

On TrueAchievements, a Bean Dive is when someone starts a bunch of games from their backlog, trying to limit it to a single popped achievement in each to get the games onto your tag (at least on TA, since it only counts there when you've popped an achievement) and drop your overall completion percentage. When you get your completion percentage back to what it was when you started, you've recovered from the dive.

There are a few things on there if you need them. They have Xbox and PS5 controllers and some headsets. USB flash drives don’t seem too overpriced. And not sure about right now, but Dell was actually the best deal around when I bought my racing rig, wheel, and shifter. The festival page is a decent way to easily find something to try and shows up when you enter the game. You really shouldn’t have to filter at all. You have to “travel” to the areas where the expansions are through one spot for each on the map. The races, etc. for them are on different maps that you won’t see.

Yeah, the expansion stuff isn’t on the main map. You can’t end up rolling up to a race on the map and it being one from the expansions .

There's only the 2 paid things on the main map, the jump off points to the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions. I just fired up the game and told Anna I wanted to race. She set a route for me to the build stub next to the soccer stadium, which was the only icon I had left on the map marked as "New". Maybe that's why she sent you to the expansions. Are they still marked new? Do you have anything else marked new on the map? If Hot Wheels and Rally aren't marked as new, where does Anna send you if you ask about racing again?

I started the build stub and backed out, which cleared the new marker. Asking again, she set a route to a race icon that I hadn't completed the exhibition for. Quit out of the game and asked to race, she again sent me to the build stub, then the same race as before. I won that, which was the final exhibition win I needed on the map. Now when I ask her for races, she cycles between the 2 routes closest to my current position and that build stub. Jumped around the map, and it was always the same. The 2 closest routes to me and the build stub.

Based on that, I'd guess Anna prioritizes new things, then incomplete things (the incomplete exhibition I had was in the city, when there were closer routes). Didn't publish anything from the stadium stub, so I don't know if that would be removed from the cycle. With nothing new or incomplete, she just picks the closest stuff. So she probably will continue picking the expansion jump off points.

I'd just skip Anna and go by the festival playlist, things on the map or achievements you still need.

Hopefully a bit more info comes out soon. Based on how FFXIV works on PS, I would expect that we will have cross progression, but not purchased expansions.

I'm only in the free trial so I really don't want to buy the expansions if they don't transfer.

The xbox wire post mentions the trial up yo lvl 70 and has stormblood I think with it. It is cross platform as that is why it didnt hit xbox in the first place.

I never played FF14 because I would never pay a monthly fee for any game. It will be interesting to see if FF16 is a permanent PS5 exclusive or just timed. It's a great game that everyone should get to play. I doubt FF7R ever comes to Xbox though.

Isn't the reason that FF14 was never on Xbox is because Xbox never wanted to enable cross play or something?

FF14 is a great game. You can play almost the entirety of the game completely for free. I think you'd only really need to pay for the later expansions but you're still looking at dozens of hours if not hundreds easily. FF14 actually ran out of license keys for the game at one point due to it's popularity. I wonder if they got that sorted out or if they will make more for Xbox?

If FF7R is never coming to Xbox I see no reason to think that FF16 will either. Maybe future titles?

I "purchased" the FF14 Starter Edition at some point when it was free on PlayStation.  Apparently, that makes me ineligible to use the trial version as purchasing any version of the game or an expansion kills access to the trial and requires a subscription.  I never played it so I never linked my PSN ID to my Square FF14 account.  I might finally check it out when the Xbox trial version comes out.

tweet say dev is unaffected, I just don't think they liked how easy it was to start and play roms legally, while their also illegal but ok to use as long as you don't talk about it, share how you got it or try and sell it.

On a totally different note. I had no expectations for the newest Transformers movie but I was surprised how terrible Rise of the Beasts was. I couldn’t even finish it.

Just curious, how far did you get in Rise of the Beasts? I'm watching it right now and it's ok so far. Feels very "video gamey" rather than a movie if that makes any sense.

I think FF7R and FF16 can release on Xbox, just not any time soon and not in their current forms. I do believe it is just a matter of resources/manpower and SE just wants to focus on making the best version of the games possible (LMAO at Forspoken though).

SE is no stranger to releasing their games on the Microsoft Store and making them Play Anywhere though it is a bit inconsistent. I imagine it's just going to take a LOT more effort to port the games this way. Look at FF7R Intergrade on PC; it was doggy doo doo at launch and might still be mixed now.

What I'm thinking is SE wants to finish off the FF7R games and then port that after it is done when they have free time (and a boatload of money from MSFT). As far as FF16, we know one of the producers said it will eventually come to PC, just not anytime soon (not in the 6 months after the console exclusivity ends). There is speculation that FF16 uses a heavily modified version of FF14's engine (or at the very least a brand new bespoke engine by the FF14 team) so seeing an Xbox release of FF14 sounds quite promising for the prospects of an Xbox port (unless Sony really locked it down in perpetuity like Xbox did for Splinter Cell Conviction).

Summary of what I want to see:

• FF7R trilogy getting a Play Anywhere release a year or two after the trilogy is completed
  maybe an "enhanced" release sort of how Mass Effect Trilogy came to PS3 with some engine enhancements (and perhaps how ME1 got around Xbox exclusivity)
• maybe working on Kingdom Hearts 4 in UE5 helps with this porting process if they do enhance it in some way
• given how SE doesn't really discount their FF series, I highly doubt this would be a $70 bundled release and instead separate titles/releases

[*]FF16 getting a Play Anywhere release some time after the official PC release

• I think a simultaneous Play Anywhere release across Microsoft Store and Xbox might take a bit longer so I do not expect it to be ready by the time the Steam/Epic version is released

[*]I would understand if these ports weren't Play Anywhere but still had cross-save

• Waiting to see how Forspoken is handled once console exclusivity is over since it has a Microsoft Store release
• Might be a FF15 situation

Wow... I've tried several times over the last few weeks to order an xbox game code from Dell using my rewards credit, and the order would always get immediately cancelled. I tried again last night and actually got a code delivered to my account. The best part is that it was for the delisted Soul Calibur 2 HD, and the code worked on my xbox. I'm happy to get a game I figured I missed my chance on.

I get the negative optics you have, but these guys were charging people to access a backdoor to run unsigned code on retail hardware. The dev mode exists for multiple reasons, and one is to keep unofficial apps quarantined. If anyone wanted to do something malicious with the system that was just banned, they could have.

Much better to spend the $20 on dev mode than pay these dumbasses $5 a month or whatever it was.

I was downloading the latest BC games I purchased to a hard drive and remembered a trick I read about for Dead or Alive 3.  If you set your system region to UK before downloading it, you get the European release of DOA3 that has the CGI intro, more costumes, and extra moves.  The costumes and CGI intro were later included on a booster disc for the US version.

I found a couple of races on my own but anna still directs me to the paid content if I ask her. I guess I have just completed most of the races in the base game.

Like Bloomy said, don’t use Anna for anything. It’s easier just to find stuff to do on the map itself of the festival playlist. She’s never been more than a gimmick and not very useful and if you haven’t played Horizon much before, I think she’s gonna make it more confusing. I think if you keep trying to use her, it’s just going to frustrate you more. My favorite part of the Horizon games is just driving around. Try that and see what races you come across or use the map. The types of races are marked on the map and by different colors(blue for road races, orange for dirt, etc.)

I got the part in Peru where the get the transwarp drive and was so bored I refused to waste anymore time watching it. The humans were worse than in previous movies, they did Wheeljack totally wrong and the use of Maximals was disappointing.
