Looks like it's officially time to pull the trigger if it drops to $350 for E3, even though I'm still sporting the same 46", 11 year old Panasonic plasma. The One S will move into the 11 year old's room. The only downside is I'm still two months out from getting fiber, so I'll have to take it to my brother's house to hook it up to his gigabit to download the insane 4K texture updates.

and FYI, it's still live on Fry's... the ad anyway.  Now corrected, back to $499 with $50 off.

If MS drops it to $399, the older $50 off ads would probably be void. So it would be $399 not $349.

I'll believe it when it drops.

Since the X has been $449 pretty much every other week it seems.. I would not be surprised that $449 is the new price, and $399 when on sale.

The $150 price drop.... that has to make the board room very uncomfortable. $100 drop would be a little uneasy.

$150 would mean that Sony and God of War *really* hurt MS....

No clue what 1070 or a 1060 are. I’d assume some graphics cards but I don’t buy those for my PC. I bought it 8 years ago for $350 (refurbished dell). I did put one of those board powered cards in, a 750ti. I don’t pay attention to the other type of cards because my PC can’t run them. The good thing is, unlike previous PC’s I’ve had over the years, this thing is still running strong and works with all modern applications. I don’t think buying a new PC is necessary like it used to be.

Oh and you seem to be assuming that MS is paying retail for its hardware. I assure you, they are not.
Since you admitted you have no understanding of modern hardware (and therefore, its costs) let me simplify this for you.

At $350, MS would be losing money on every Xbox One X sold. Even at $400 they would still be. When the system launched and breakdowns were done, it was established that if they were making any money, it was a sliver. Costs have absolutely not come down that much in the small interim. In fact, until recently when graphics card prices came back to the realm of the reasonable, prebuilts were the only way to go because you could find cards for less than 1.75-2.5x msrp markups.

Don't talk shit about topics you don't understand. The X is a substantial piece of hardware and when you go on record stating upgrading from a 7 year old PC isn't 'necessary' you reveal the obvious fact that the console just isn't for you because you have no appreciation of its benefits. Grandma and grandpa dont need the latest smart phone so of course a $1,000 flagship is going to look overpriced to them

thanks. i will pull the trigger depending on tomorrows conference. If its bad, then i can wait for a cheaper 4k blu-ray player.
Conkers bad fur day sequel is an autobuy!
Was the a runor or leak about a new Conker? Cus I would love that, just haven't seen anything about it

I could totally see $349 being the price point this week. Crackdown got delayed into 2019, 343 has been pretty open about taking time for Halo 6, so other than Forza what giant exclusive bomb could they drop? If they can't compete with Sony on games then they have to do it on price. Drop to $349 and push as hard as they can that multi platform games play best on Xbox.

The price drop trial balloon is totally working in my head because even though I don't have a 4K TV or any real reason to buy an X, it's a gorgeous piece of hardware and even a better 1080 experience would be pretty cool. (and I've already bought a few mutli-plats with the idea that SOMEONE I'd have an X, or the next gen will likely be backwards compatible at "X or better" playability)

Someone talk me out of it before the conference starts and I throw my credit card at something!! :)

Fry's and Gamestop with the fakeout.

$349 would've been a no-brainer buy for me.
It was crazy to think that was true to begin with, Gamestop had their add fixed by 10am this morning and Fry's is just Fry's

Pretty decent stuff for Xbox at their press conference today, surprised they bought Ninja Theory. Guess there goes my hopes of a physical version for PS4.

Can’t beat plasma (especially Panasonic plasmas). I play more on my 50 inch Panasonic plasma in my office, than on my 75 inch 4K Samsung in family room. The coloring and motion is just so much better.

100% yes. My Sony 4k HDR is pretty, but no where close to my old panasonic plasma's motion. It could make all games look like they were pushing 60fps.

Grab moved the Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle for the Xbox One, $15 was too good to pass up for both games. Should have been this cheap to begin with!

Hey all you have to do is send me your controllers and $100. I'll give them the ol' spit-shine and put a few stickers on them so you think they're new and cool, then I'll send them on back. Sound good?

I’m not sure you fully understand what “talking shit” means because I certainly wasn’t doing that nor would I talk shut about an Xbox. That just seems silly.

Interestingly, they did mention they are working on new Xbox hardware. That tells me that the next gen Xbox will indeed be released in 2020 and not in 2021.

My problem is size - after watching Blu-Rays on my friend's 65" Samsung LED, as well as watching UHD Blu-Rays on it with HDR, my beloved old Panny doesn't quite give me the spark it used to. Now if I could find a used, 65" plasma...
