It's obvious you're just looking to pick a fight. Whatever. You win. We're all evil.

Obviously you don't care for the image the site has. Some people actually like the fact that CAG doesn't look like a bunch of scammers and theives.

- Does your d**k feel any bigger now?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't swing that way.
just chill out
If people weren't dumbasses and posting about how they are defrauding Microsoft, I wouldn't care. The site's image is CheapyD's stock-in-trade
when he's seeking advertisers and affliate opportunities.
People being asses and talking about how they're scamming companies doesn't do much for the image of the place.

I could care less if any of you are little scammer assholes pulling little scams on your own... you'll all get caught eventually.

Don't bring the site and it's community into it. We don't need our good name sullied so that you're lame-asses can save a couple dollars.

(suMMx, this statement is in general, and by no means is directed specifically at you.)

Just to let everyone know, MS can and will check to see if your information checks out.
I was recently required to scan and submit one of my paystubs from work. I can see the reason why, though--my boyfriend and I both work at different GameStops in the area, and they're likely just confirming that we both really work there, and we're not just leeching store numbers. :p

regardless i think your point got across and you should relax

Apparently you haven't read the thread from the begining. I started objecting to this "scam" early in the thread, yet it still hasn't stoped the little scam artists from gloating over thier ill-gotten gains.

Considering that people were still posting it and using it in such a way that it is a scam, I don't think the point has gotten across.

Why should I just relax when these little noobs are making this great site look like nothing more then a den of common thieves. That isn't what CAG is about.

i really do work at best buy and i got a letter of acknowledgement but no confrimation, i emailed them and they sent it off with a confrimation number and track number. So thank you for the heads up anyways

I don't know why you're responding for redgopher. I don't appreciate that I was attacked (by redgopher) without him even asking if I was legit. And when I posted I was legit, there was no apology. Even worse, redgopher continued his attack. Now what excuse is there for that except that he was trying to pick a fight. Even though we differ in opinion, he should have at least had the guts to apologize. He's the one that started to make things personal. I shouldn't have lost my temper though. Most of us are civilized people and should conduct ourselves as such.

And as far as the discounted games offer:

1) You need a store # - Not many people will just happen to know this.
2) Some people are asked to send in copies of pay stubs.
3) You have to go through a good amount of training to EARN those games.

I'm sure a lot of people are abusing the XBOX live offer. But IMHO, it is at least partially Microsoft's responsibility to keep their site secure. You're supposed to have to go through similar steps as the free games offers, but the person who wrote the webpage screwed up & has YET to fix it. And as far as the games offer is concerned I doubt many people are abusing it for the reason's listed above.

And its not that I don't CARE about the site's image. Personally, I just don't think this is a big enough deal to really affect it. It's just my opinion. I'm entitled to mine & you're entitled to yours.

honestly with this deal microsoft is hardly losing money, the deal used to be $50 and it was bumpd to $70 if ms was losing money on the deal they wouldnt offer it. You are also right in the fact that it isnt a big deal and its up to the individual to make the decision.

The only reason I got this was because I emailed them and asked! I said I dont work at a store or anything and wanted to get this deal but didn't want to say I worked at one of those stores and I didn't actually work at that store. They said they dont care put any store at all. They dont care and if you dont believe me email them and ask, like I did.

That would explain why they haven't fixed the XBOX live offer site.
?

They really said they didnt care?

Then again, they're not really losing at any point here...
Maybe its a way not to lose face or a lot of money, but still boost XBOX live #'s.

I posted this a while back also

i wouldnt be suprised if MS encouraged people to do this because its motivation for those waiting for a reason to get live. Plus a minority of xbl buyers will get it this way and it will still provide profit when users renew their accounts in the coming year.

ooo, I didnt mean that, i meant a few posts above, it was talking about the other xbox retail stuff...eh, nevemrind

Nope. Redgopher has crossed the line of good taste a couple of times. I just don't like anything (even if said somewhat in jest) that starts to build a bad name for the site. That "We're all evil" had that sort of vibe going for it.

I guess if shop keepers don't fortify thier stores almost to the state of a prison camp, they deserve to have things stolen from them as well, right?

Everything is a big enough deal. Things add up over time. Images from.
I'll be damned if I let people ruin the image that CAG has already built up.
I don't want this becoming a pit of scammers and thieves. There's plenty of those on the internet as it is.

You know, just because you're entitled to your opinion doesn't mean it's valid. That way lies madness.

I said MS was partially responsible. NOT wholely. Your analogy is way out of proportion. I would say that more accurate would be if a shop keeper left his doors open & refused to close them even after things have been stolen. The person who stole the items is wrong, but for Pete's sake the store keeper should LOCK HIS DOOR!!!

As far as opinions go, I could say the same about yours. Who's to say which opinion is valid & which is not? You & I are not an objective observers, so by definition neither of us is qualified to judge.

Not to mention that if SCUBA's posts are accurate, then MS actually knows what is going on & doesn't care. If they don't care, then it must not be that important.

JSweeney - is right though about the discounted games

thats not right to cheat that.

I mean think about it. Why do they ask for so much information to prove that you work at one of these stores for the discounted games, but not for the xbox live offer?

True. As I said earlier, with all the stuff they require I doubt many people are cheating it anyway.

Wrong is wrong, nevertheless. It begins to put a stain on the site when people start discussing scams and exploits that are obviously wrong.
That's not the way this site is, and it's certainly not the way I want it to become.

Yes, but considering that I have much more time and experience with the demeanor of the site ( as evidenced by join date and post count), I am a much more credible as a source when it comes to the mannerisms and demenaor of the site as a whole. This gives my contention that discussing a scam/exploit such as this in a positive light is against the stardard behavior of the site more crediblity than your contention to the contrary.
Unless there is a factual innacuracy in what I am saying, or the rest of the membership of the board does not hold the same opinion as I, that's a difficult burden for you to get past.

Not to mention that if SCUBA's posts are accurate, then MS actually knows what is going on & doesn't care. If they don't care, then it must not be that important.

I could care less what Microsoft says about it. Considering that your making a deal in bad faith to get the product, it's still more of an exploit or scam than a deal. Scams and exploits aren't part modus oporandi of this site. Whether or not Microsoft views the enforcement of the rules as important or not doesn't mean the rules don't exist.

The reason I didn't respond is because I decided that this conversation was pointless, that people are going to take advantage of the deal anyways, regardless of what I think or anyone else for that matter. So I'm sorry for ripping into you, but I thought it was appropriate.

On a happy note, I got $320 worth of games from MS (9 games) for the shipping costs of about $45. Woo!

Not exactly. If it steers it's way into the area where people start discussing their blatant abuse of their exploit, I'd like a mod or CheapyD would have no problem locking it down. For the people it's intented, this is a great deal. It would be terrible for them to not learn of this deal because of a few spoiled little kids and unscrupulous "adults".

mine came out to about 36

also don't plan on reselling it or something cause thats wrong and you probably would have a hard time since it has a huge ass sticker on the front that says

microsoft company store purchase or something
Does any1 know how much the starter kit costs including shipping? Thanks
It depends whether or not you actually qualify... if you don't, it taxes your dignity as well.

Great! Look into the games too.. so long as you don't mind taking a little retail training, they seem to cut you a pretty good deal on some of the games.
Does any1 know how much the starter kit costs including shipping? Thanks
its 29.99 + shipping and tax = $39 which is $30 off retail prices.
