Xbox Live Summer 2009 Update Thread - Now Live!

I was 100% positive they would not sell these games any cheaper than the Gamestop NEW prices.
That being said, Lego star wars complete for $30? WTF. I thought that was a $20 retail game. Oh well.
360 Games are in the Games on Demand tab now.
Call of Duty 2- $29.99 $12.99
Oblivion- 29.99 $26.99
Need for Speed Carbon- 19.99 $19.99
Lego Star Wars, the Complete Sags- 29.99 $17.99
Mass Effect- 19.99 $14.99
Viva Pinata- 19.99 $17.99
Sonic the Hedgehog- 19.99 $14.99
Bioshock- 29.99 $17.99
AssassinsCreed- 29.99 $19.99

Must be bought with a credit card, or redeemable code, and you will get tax added on apparently.
Wow... and this is why digital distribution is the devil, if publishers had their way they would still charge $29.99 for CoD2.

Green text are prices that these can be bought at Gamestop used, of course even better deals can be had by taking advantage of promos, etc. At least some of the prices are comparable, and I guess you are "paying for convenience" but others are just ridiculously overpriced.

I was under the impression that every game would be $20. Granted, I wasn't really thinking like "I guarantee that none will be over $20", but more like "given the age of the games and new/used pricing at Amazon, GameStop, and eBay, I expect XBL could get away with $20 per game without much outcry."

As well as a Premium Theme and a couple dozen Gamerpics. The AUS price for it is $99, or 6000 points. That's a massive joke, too. It costs $30 AUS there at retail.

Might be because they only showed Mass Effect when they announced Games on Demand and listed it at a $20 price tag.

I'm a bit miffed that they removed the option to use MS points to buy the games.
The one thing I was saving my MS points for, and now I can't use them for it.

I cannot log in tonight...weird. Also, with the new update, I cannot play any of my videos I was able to stream before. I will try to download the optional media update (if i can login).

actually there are few that are still on Live. I got kicked a few minutes ago. There were some threads about it posted before I got kicked so the time varies.
Uh... you can still use MS points. Press Y or X on the buy screen.
Cool. Thanks for the info.
Looks like we really need to start paying attention to the bottom of the screen where it shows the button options. More so than before. But IMO, the more options the better.
Thanks again.

Games On Demand pricing is absurd. Its shocking to see a few of the titles already ahead of the old Xbox 1 titles in the "Most Popular" tab. People should avoid these like the plague and just get a disc version cheaper at any Gamestop or other store that has used copies and show Microsoft that the pricing is horrendous.

Oh well, I can't complain too much. I just won't buy any of them.

There is a new avatar store, with some punk style clothes and skateboards to do tricks on. Still no gears suits. But i think the gears suits will be 240 points for the clothes and extra for the helmet. I only have 200 ms points. :(

I just noticed subtitles on an MP4 movie I'm watching on DVD...I don't have them hard-coded so this is definitely new to me...

The preview seems nice, but not really worth of making a big deal out of. The Netflix queue update is the best feature. Other than that, there's nothing really worth getting excited about IMO.

Makes me wonder if Microsoft is going to do a "preview" of every other update they do from now on.
Will the facebook/twitter be added on august 11th?
yeah, where is this stuff?

They should as it gives them a better way to iron out any bugs before it's forced on everyone.
Update goes live for everyone on August 11th, per the e-mail I just got.
Thanks for the heads up. I hope NXE works faster after the update.
yeah, where is this stuff?
Asked this once I Got the preview and pretty much had to look up my own answer.

Not till later in the year....If that. So who knows really.

Looks lie they added another Clothes Section with skateboards and skull shirts and stuff.
The marketplace and games library are still pretty slow to load, so I'm hoping the next update can address that.
What about the Inside Xbox videos and stuff? For some reason those take FOREVER for me to load. It constantly skips and is a total mess. I don't think I've seen a complete video from any of those tabs. That and the slow friends list is my biggest complaint with the NXE.

All I want to know is when is sirius come to xbox live. Only bad thing is I bet the find a way to screw over the life time members so they have to pay to log onto it or use it.

They did for me, too. I just tried the RB2 video and it took 65 seconds to start playing.

There is a way to stream to it already. I use it daily actually when Playing a game I can't stand the music for.
