Xbox One Console Thread (Console is currently in stock as of 12/3 at Amazon)

I got a headache just from reading all this fanboy garbage.
You can think that all you want, Im just going by how sony has done things. Ive had a ps3 since the day it launched. Im going to get a x1 and ps4. But like I said, im not just gonna be blind by the previous generations lies. Did you know sony a month or so after launch clearly said that ps3 would offer cross game voice chat in a future update? It was jsut to keep the hype. Did you even see the video in my post? All i was talkign about is Sony and how they have handled previous console launches. They keep taking punches at MS about there no reverse policy when it not even relevant now.

Sony and the PS4 deserve alot of there praise and hype, but i think people are overhyping thereselfs for it. When it comes down to the console and how its UI works and games play is the main factor any gamer should have. Last gen it was how awesome ps3 was that it was free online but that is no longer there, and the real so called console war has started. Its gonna be fun.

Does ordering online @ Best Buy with in store pickup charge your card immediately?
I believe its the same as ordering online, from what ive read they check to see if its in there every so often which will show as being charged. Thats from what i read.

Ho ho, what? Lol

Actually it was pretty quick. That and the start up time was a LOT quicker. Don't be delusional.
Im not bein dulusional, I was with 360 when it launched and remember the old bladed guide and used it tons, compared to it the newest guide is much faster. The dashboard may not be as fast since it has to do alot of downloading images. But when it comes to the guide menu the new one is much cleaner and more responsive.

Just wait for the advertising banners to start clogging and choking the interface lol

I will take a small 250x250 banner ad over that steaming pile that is the XMB any day!

I launched the PS Store the other day to a full screen AXE. Why do Sony fanboys act like their platform has no ads?

When has the XMB even came close to the X360 UI? Never!
Come close to what?

Blitzkrieg of advertisements on a paid service? The 360 UI and the XMB were on par for each other when the 360 used Blades.

Now the PS3 boots up about half the time the 360 does.

Also, even when the 360 is in offline mode, it STILL takes forever to load.

Because the Store is now considered an App.

It is no longer tied into the XMB.

And that's not annoying?

There are also small 150x150 adds on the XMB in that 6 blocks section as well.

Yet again - for the Store App. You never see an ad unless you go to the store specifically.

Yes, the Store being an App is kind of annoying, but I don't go there often. A useful alternative is using the website.

I honestly don't know how the bland XMB can be considered pleasing to the eye. Also something that has barely changed in over 8 years. I don't know how anyone can argue that the XMB and the Xbox UI even come close to comparing to each other.

Guys,

I'm a huge Xbox fan but I have to admit that the interface has really gone downhill since the blades days.

Granted I have a ton of downloads and arcade games,etc... but it takes forever to boot up. Constant pauses become quite annoying. Browsing my games takes forever. I kept thinking it was perhaps my wifi but it behaves the same over ethernet.

The XMB on the other hand is quick and responsive. I hope that the UI on the interface is snappy.

Quick Response Time
The demo that was shown during Gamescom featured a few developer friendly debug items on screen, but the most prominent bit of exposed console code was the measured response times that would pop-up when switching pages, loading apps, or inputting voice commands. In every case, the Xbox One flew through these tasks in less than 9/10 of a second. Though there aren’t accurate timings to measure it against, in practice, Xbox One makes Xbox 360’s dashboard look as slow as molasses.

So to get back on topic here,   anyone new pre order there system form walmart today?  Im wondering if they are selling out fast.

Here's what the preorder card from Target looks like...

I got one of those pre-order cards on sunday. They have 15 total and I was 1 of 15. This was around 4 pm EST.

Also, I have only heard 2 people bitch about the XMB bar.

You can guess who those 2 are, lol.

Yep...we are the only two on the planet who don't like the XMB...

I also love how backhanded your comment about the card was. Are you trying to say that you were the only one who preordered an X1 at Target that entire day?

Damn Sony wins /generationbeforeitstarts

I dont like the XMB, its very dated and has so many useless options that just get in the way of the stuff i wanna get to. The PS3 XMB was actually a menu system created first for the PSX (which is a japan based DVR PS2) which was release around 2003. Seen here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vofHwP9J9Rw It's just so dated.

Also the old PSX ps2 looks alot like a xbox one lmao!

Dude, stop reading into what you want to read into, lol. They still had PS4 cards as well. This is most likely due to the fact that they are locked up and you have to ask for them and not just out on the shelf.

I don't get it.  Why do people think a one week earlier release date is a win for MS vs. Sony?  How is releasing earlier by a week an advantage?  I'm still holding off for some holiday deals (probably won't be huge, but I'm guessing they'll throw in a game or something somewhat cheap).

Its definitely always an advantage to launch prior to competition.. granted its only a week this time around.

I'd be much more inclined and eager to go next gen If i can get it as early as possible...especially around COD Ghosts release time. Hopefully i can convince some people to jump onboard as well

If you are on someones mind first I think it is a win. Earlier release date to me means more press. More people talking about it.

It will be on the news about people camping out. Reviews are out earlier etc etc. Like it was stated. A PR win.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, haven't seen it yet, but....

Apparently, the "Day One" versions of launch games will be available as downloads for two weeks from the launch date.  It was in the latest Major Nelson podcast.

"To commemorate the launch of Xbox One, Day One Editions are special game SKUS that include exclusive content and are available only through retail pre-order while supplies last, or via download on Xbox Live the first two weeks after launch."

Think I may change my DR3 disc preorder.  It's mostly paid off with credits, but, I'd rather get a second controller from the store and just have the game on my HDD.  That way I won't even have to load a disc.  The trade-in value doesn't mean anything to me - I still have pretty much every disc I bought on or near the 360 launch.

Need to see if this is applying to the Forza 5 LCE; I may change it, too.

The wording makes it seem like you can buy the games directly from the Xbox marketplace. In theory, you don't need to buy an XB1 right away. If you want the Day One edition of these games, just buy them from xbox.com. Then when you get your XB1 eventually, you have the Day One editions even if you get your XB1 after those initial two weeks.

Yes, but who will pay full price for a game that you won't play for months or possibly years down the road.

Someone who wants the exclusive Day One Edition content (bolded below)? Depends on what that content is, obviously...

Given the launch games will probably be $39.99 by February, I'm not so sure paying $20 more so you can "save" all-digital versions for later playing is such a grand idea.  Bonus content really isn't worth that.

I personally agree. Plus who's to say it won't be available as DLC later on. I just thought the wording was interesting, that you can do stuff like this with digital downloads.
