Xbox One Console Thread (Console is currently in stock as of 12/3 at Amazon)

That is horrendous news actually. Now the horrible sound quality of people on the mic will continue. Well at least I won't sound like garbage to others. Ever since the Xbox 360 came out the voice has been terrible. It's my least favorite thing about the Xbox 360, and they were finally fixing it with the Xbox One...until this news.
i have turtle beach x12 and i don't sound awful online the adapter is for any head set that worked on 360 not just the cheap 20 doller one

Can't make up their minds -- or making a wise business move? This is only bad news for the PS4 fanboy, gives them one less thing to rail about.
Doesn't matter. Over the past few months, it's clear they made many wrong decisions. While money-wise this may entice more sales, I think it speaks poorly to the minds and the thinking process at MS. Who's to say that this same poor track record doesn't extend to their decisions in the hardware, software, or infrastructure-side of things? Just my 2 cents...

(Before anyone flames, I am not a PS fanboy....yet....)

Anyone else disappointed that they still cannot figure out how to get rid of the damn power brick? The system is gigantic already and they still could not fit it in. On a good note, I am glad to see that they decided to throw in the headset.

*I am still looking forward to getting my Day One Edition.

Yes, it is especially annoying when Sony has shown it can be done.

Also, why the hell Microsoft cannot include a built in rechargeable battery in their controller in this day and age, when even Nintendo does this, I have no idea.

I hope Microsoft never puts rechargeable batteries in their controllers. Doing so just ensures the controller will eventually be garbage. Non-removable rechargeable batteries are a ticking time bomb and are not going to last forever.

Watching these two companies compete from the sidelines is fascinating.  Sony had the attitude of "we will do anything to win" and Microsoft came out with quite a different plan.  While Microsoft has "fixed" most of what people have been complaining about, I do think they had a good plan from the start and that they just didn't communicate things the right way.  I am very interested to know if the seamless transition from game to tv to apps that we saw in the first reveal will still work if you install all games as originally planned.

I know I'll get a One eventually, but there is no way I'm getting one in the first year.

I must say I'm glad they are listening to the customers.I wonder if people bitch enough about the charge kit if they'll throw that in aswell.Either way,I might hold out on the 99 TB headset now and just wait for the adapter for my 360 TB headset now.

That not's argument for not having a rechargeable battery. That's a argument for having a user replaceable rechargeable battery.

Edit: Oh, and personally, I have not had any PS3 controller die on me. On other hand, I've had a couple of the Xbox 360 rechargeable battery packs die on me.

So I guess Day One Editions are mostly done except for at the MS store WalMart, huh? GS has reopened PS4 preorders four times for extended periods, while X1 only reopened once for a single day. We shall see, I guess.

glad i jumped on my orders when they first became available.. love the tax break plus being able to apply amazon credits and getting 3x points on my amazon card..

i still have not decided if this is going to be a launch thing for me. I want to play so many of the games coming out this fall but if i jump inot a system at launch i will not be able to buy all these great games maybe like one or two of them. At least i still got 3 months to make that choice.

Yeah, really. How is it bad news for MS to throw in a headset? Saves me $25 up front when I'm already spending $100 more to pick the XB1 over the PS4.

Also, are you guys serious about the batteries? I'll take eneloop batteries over a built in battery pack any day.

I'm honestly surprised that fanboys on GFaqs and what not aren't picking apart the external battery supply.

That is one fucking sexy console.

The fact they are bending over backward to please the consumer is cchanging my mind, might keep my pre order now.

Agree on eneloops, but DS3 batteries do last a long time.
And fyi, the DS3 battery is replaceable.

I've got my Xbox One and PS4 ordered at Best Buy (I find it easier to get credit here than anywhere else between reward zone, shopkick and even (though much more limited than ever) the trade in program).  I also have a Xbox One pre-ordered at my local Microsoft store because Best Buy closed down pre-orders for a while but I was able to get in on the silver members only event opportunity. Haven't returned the MS Store one yet just because... just too likely Best Buy will fuck up somehow.

Still have no idea what one I'm actually getting.

Sell the one you don't want via the e-bay route. No way either system will be readily available for Christmas demand. I'd say you'd make a $200+ profit, and you can use that for the system you want to end up keeping.

Who knows if they are following through but I've seen a couple X1 preorders going for $999 on ebay already. Just search sold listings and shake your head.

I preordered a PS4 to help supplement my X1 purchase :)

With as long as pre-orders have been going on and with how many have been pre-ordered, i think you guys are in for a rude awakening when tring to re-sell them, lol.

i guess no harm if you can't, just return it.

I can't remember if PS3 and Xbox 360 had pre orders but they sold like crazy on ebay. I have no intention of selling mine....that Day One achievement code, maybe ;)

Im sure with them going head to head, neither company wants to face a shortage. Also being pretty much just PC parts will make it easier to produce them.

Yep.

Same thing happened to many people with the PS3 launch.

I do give credit for Microsoft for reversing their policies, but $400 is still my sweet spot.

However, to be honest, even if the X1 were already in the $400 sweet spot at launch, personally, I would still wait, as I could not justify spending nearly $1,000 at once.

That is one fucking sexy console.
X1? I do not know if I would go that far, but I am glad I am not the only who likes the physical design of the X1.

Honestly, I do not get the complaints about the X1 looking like a old VCR. To me, it looks more like a modern electronic, unlike some of the video games console of old, that looked more like electronic toys.

Just like all those people that grabbed a Wii-U to resell with that crazy holiday rush... Worked out well for them.

I think the days of massive shortages at launch are done, quite frankly neither system can afford to have people that want to buy their system but can't find it (and may, MAY end up buying their competitor).

Anyone who preordered from newegg ever find out if the XBOX One is the Day One Edition or not? I'm secretly hoping it's not (ugly chrome d-pad, and ugly "Day One Edition" controller), but it would be nice to know for sure...

Does replacing the battery void the warranty?

I know no one can know this for sure, but is it likely or even possible that GameStop will open up pre orders again before launch?

I see it happening

At this point I find it highly unlikely. PS4 has opened so many times and X1 has opened once for about a day and a half. If MS increases production perhaps, but seeing as how Walmart and MS Store are the only places with them left in the middle of August doesn't bode well for reopening preorders.

Hopefully this forces Sony to throw in the headset as well. I'd love to avoid buying both headsets at launch.

Actually, will the new headset be wired or Bluetooth? I do wonder if I can just use the xone headset for all three new consoles...if its Bluetooth it should work...

PS4 comes with one but it looks like junk.  The Xbox One headset is not bluetooth and it's wired.
