Xbox One Console Thread (Console is currently in stock as of 12/3 at Amazon)

Yea buds are terrible.

Maybe I can use my Studio Beats with the next gen. That would be awesome.. I will have to wait and see if I can get my Logitechs to work with it all.

[background=#23252b]Hi, I need advice on choosing a new system for preordering. Here are my thoughts on why the PS4 is the one I want as of now:  I save $100 off an initial console purchase and warranty extensions are cheaper through Sony, the Kinect feels unethical to me, a lot of the resources being used to an x86 programmable OS of Windows 8 is bad because it eats up a lot of the HDD based off my experience with Windows 8 RT, Xbox Live seems to lose its luster because Sony has the free newer games, a party chat, but their store updates slower and a lot of content deals are being signed with Xbox/Microsoft and other devs or publishers, the controller for the Xbox One will require me to purchase separate stuff to even make it rechargeable, Microsoft's PR was terrible around E3 and when they announced the Xbox One, Sony's hardware seems more gamer ready and friendly too.[/background]

i don't see ps plus keeping all these great games they have been doing for awhile. Seeing it's needed to play online i see alot of ps plus advantages going down more then thye are now and alot of free games will be alot of arcade games and some ps3 classics.

Is there an incentive or two to owning an Xbox One? I like my Halo games, but 3 was the best for me (played 1 with only PC multiplayer, 2 was good with friends(never played OG Xbox Live), 3 was my teenage years, Reach stunk and 4 put the nail in the coffin.) I really don't want to own one console for one series/IP. I read that the One will have more RAM for stuff since the OS takes .5 GB less than the PS4's OS. I also read that the DDR5 is overrated for the PS4. The architecture seems to blend better for games like BF4 compared to the PS4. I am just worried about that Kinect sensor and the NSA mainly. Most of my friends are probably switching to PS4 if anything. I have always backed Sony though. My only Xbox is the 360, which I had two iterations and adopted a PS3 in early 2012 and sold that to return to Xbox for Halo 4, which hurt and my friend gave up gaming because how bad it was (only played Halo.)

I've been thinking about this for a couple weeks now, $500 is a lot of money to spend this fall. Looking at the launch titles and features and I'm not sure if I really want to buy it until Titanfall comes out in the Spring. For the Xbox 360 launch it was great launch titles (that weren't on Xbox). They had: Call of Duty 2, Condemned, Perfect Dark Zero and I could play the very addicting Halo 2 on backwards comparability. When I look at the Xbox One all I see are games I can purchase on Xbox 360 (CoD Ghosts, Assassin Creed 4, Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4).

I can't even play those games with my friends until they get the system too. Along with that the Xbox One Bundle controller comes with that ugly "Day 1" tramp stamp on the cover with the chrome D-pad. I'm not a fan of the Kinect and won't be using the Cable features on top of that.

Trust me I'm excited for the future of this system but not so for this launch. So my question is, what other features/games am I not seeing to keep the purchase for launch? Do note I'm not canceling until the time is near. Xbox still has Gamescon and Pax coming up.

Why can't you just make up your own mind?  Why do you need others to try and sell the console for you?  Read about what it comes with, how much it is, what games are coming out for it, and decide what you want.  I'm all for discussing the consoles, but why is it our job to try and sell you on the idea of buying the console when all you do is list all these reasons why you don't want ti?  Unless any of us own stock in Microsoft none of us have any stake or caring if you buy Microsoft's product or not.  I know I will be, and I know it will be amazing, and that's all I care about as a huge fan of the Xbox and Microsoft's products all around.

honstly i don't think either system is worth a buy at launch unless you are a person that needs the newest things or in dierneed of a gaming system. Seeing most of the bigger launch titles are on this current gen and pc i still having issues thinking if i want the new system which means i will not be able to buy all the new games or wait till next year to get one.

I am selling my 360 for it because I am tired of that damn Paywall for Netflix. I have a Chromecast for Netflix, but other apps are important too. I think I will just buy a PS4. I will go 3 months without a current gen console.

How long till we see a price drop or a bonus(free game, accessory)--I'm assuming, a year, maybe NEXT Black Friday as far as bonuses go.

A year for both systems is my guess

Why would you want to buy obviously inferior copies of a game, with many of it's features cut and/or removed would be my question?

Battlefield 4 in particular is going to be a shell of a game on the 360 vs X1/PS4.

Agreed. The only game I plan to buy on current gen is nba 2k14 since i need my bball fix for a month or so before next gen comes out.. Already have it preordered on Xbox One anyways.

Probably next Black Friday with a free game or $50 off.

You won't see any real discounts till the system is out for 2 years, my guess is $50-$100 off each by then. 3 years down the road a "slim" model/revision. Sooner if we somehow have RROD issues again

You won't see discounts necessarily but I think it's safe to say that come Spring time we will see stores offering a 50 dollar gift card with the purchase of the system. I wouldn't expect any discounts until 2 and a half years later with a revision.

i will not even touch bf4 on x1 or ps4 pc is the way to go for that game

I don't know why, but I don't FPS games on PC.

I'm getting it because the game releases before the new consoles do. That's it.

It will be a nice surprise if they release the new consoles early, but I doubt that very much.

I also loathe keyboard and mouse, but I see the advantage it gives people who like it and use it.  I would never want to try and play against people using a mouse and keyboard while I use a controller.

Have you seen those aimon elite controllers for the Xbox though.. People do use mouse controllers for the Xbox for precise aiming.. My friend told me that couldn't believe it.

has anyone actually tried to play a fps with a ps controller? omg... horrible.

I love the 360 controller and expect the XBONE to be even better..

PS controller is better for fighting games while I like the the Xbox better for FPS.

I grip a lot lighter on a fighting game then versus a FPS. So that's how the different shapes benefit me.

If this PS controller is a little bigger and heavier it might make a difference.

Not trying to start a fanboy war yet you are posting about the PS4 controller in the X1 preorder thread...
I'm honestly not trying to cite a riot, just giving a general statement that the DS4 as a controller might not be as bad as the DS3. I didn't even mention the PS4, just replying to the discussion at hand about controllers. You seriously have some issues with me based on the discussions we had on the X1 thread in the other forum. Like I said to you before, you can ignore my post if you don't like it, same goes for anyone who could care less what I say.

Don't let that guy bother you man,He seems like a douche bag.

Should have been that way from day one. Am I wrong to think a $399.99 Kinect-less SKU annoucment is coming? Maybe at Gamescom?

I'd love to see a lower price point without the Kinect. Not sure if they would do that until after the initial release though, at this point I'm going to wait until everything is finalized before I pick up an Xbox One. I just don't know what is going to be included/excluded in the final product to warrant a preorder any longer for me. They do look like they are going in the right direction, but at the same time I'm sure if I can wait I'll get the price point and a bundle that will be the right fit for me.

Great great news!! Thanks

But yes very doubtful they'll sell a k-free model anytime soon, soooo many people would drop their pre orders and buy the the cheaper model.

Wow. This is crazy. They have pretty much backtracked on everything, but not requiring a plugged in Kinect just boosted the preorders. Now all the military that can't have a Kinect plugged in will buy it now.

I can honestly say this might be one the worst things I have ever seen. The announcement, and then the coming months leading up to the console. All the we can't change anything, and then change pretty much everything. I'm stunned but not so stunned since money talks.

I really believe early next year they will announce a $400 XBone without the Kinect.  I like Kinect personally and already have mine paid off so the bundle is a better deal for me.  There is just no reason for them not to do it at this point.

You mean a company listening to consumer complaints, addressing those concerns and improving the product before it's released? Oh yeah, THAT'S just horrible. lol.

Exactly I really don't see how this is a negative...
